Cliché Magazine[edit]

The notability of a publication (particularly a web-based one) is established largely by third-party references. But most of the references you have listed are from the magazine itself, therefore not of great use in this context.

In addition, a paragraph like this: "In December of 2009, the magazine released its "Print is Dead, Get Over It" campaign. In line with its eco-friendly mission, and in light of the online publication boom, Cliché does not offer print issues. In addition to its website, Cliché is also available as an iPhone and iPod touch application." appears to be suggesting (a) reasons you should get the magazine and (b) how you can get hold of it.

I am not saying that the magazine is not notable (or I would have deleted the article straight away) but that you need to be clear about what makes it notable and try to avoid anything that might sound like you are promoting it. Deb (talk) 11:46, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely understand the concerns regarding first-party sourcing; however, most of these first-party sources are supplemented by third-party coverage of the same information (the rest are regarding covers - is there a particular policy you can direct me to regarding magazine covers?).

Are the formats (and reasons for said formats) not notable? All of those facts were sourced to other media outlets...they were in no way intended as "reasons you should get the magazine" - I included the information because it ties into the anti-print campaign, which the magazine is known for (as can be seen in the third-party coverage).

Thank you for the advice...I look forward to your reply.Feather Jonah (talk) 04:24, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:LaCarmina1.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:LaCarmina1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. feydey (talk) 10:27, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have forwarded permissions regarding this image to Wikimedia Commons. I applied the OTRX pending tag, but perhaps I did not remember the code correctly (it's been a while). Feather Jonah (talk) 10:44, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:LaCarmina1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:LaCarmina1.jpg, which you've sourced to www.petaasiapacific.com. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MilborneOne (talk) 17:40, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Sebastianoserafini.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sebastianoserafini.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sebastianoserafini.jpg[edit]

Hello, and thank you for the alert. I accidentally missed the bar when I was uploading the file, but it has been released by the subject who holds the rights to the image under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License, as has been forwarded to Wikipedia staff. Where exactly do I need to put this tag in the file to correct it? Also, the source of the image is on http://sebastianoserafini.com (biography page). Thank you! Feather Jonah (talk) 00:43, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

One of the volunteers who handles forwarded permission information has taken care of it, but for future reference, a license tag is usually added either in the "permission" section of the "information" box, or just below the box. You can see how it was done for your image here. --Carnildo (talk) 00:44, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for expanding it. It could be a good DYK. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:18, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • No problem! I've been following the conflicting coverage since it started, thought I'd help it along. It would be awesome to see it as a DYK - do you know how to go about getting it rolling? Thanks, Feather Jonah (talk) 03:23, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wonderful. You can follow the steps here: [talk:Did you know#Instructions for nominators]
As for a hook, we can think of one together if you like? Short is good. What do you suggest? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:09, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks for the info! I just sent a licensing request so that we can hopefully get a proper image for the article - let's wait and see how this works out before we nominate it (maybe later in the week). It will be really cool if it gets accepted! Feather Jonah (talk) 04:16, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect. Let me know when you are ready. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:18, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for October 17[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bagel head, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Fetish and National Geographic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

See this. Please feel free to suggest a better hook. Also, ensure nothing is copy pasted, and the hook is supported by the source.

I suspect it could get top spot with image, and plenty of hits.

Feel free to contact User talk:LauraHale if you have questions. She's very nice.

Best,

Thanks again for helping out! I just suggested a slight rewording, since it doesn't seem right to treat it as a proper noun. It will be great to see if it gets picked! Feather Jonah (talk) 23:59, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:REDi official logo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:REDi official logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:07, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
