New Articles

While your drive to create new articles from the request list is admirable, the way you are going about it is not appropriate. Articles should not be created by just copy/pasting plots from ANN. Nor should refs be added to the infobox as you have done with most of the stubs you've made. Please also read the instructions for using the various anime/manga infoboxes, as you are adding non-existant fields to many of them. You might also want to look at our WP:MOS-AM for proper article structure. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:19, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

AGAIN, please actually take some time to see the fixes people are having to make to the stubs you are creating and learn from them! Note the changes made here to your newest creation[1]. If you don't understand why something was changed, please ask instead of continuing to make the same mistakes.-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:32, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

helpme why can't I use external publishers websites as sources? Extremepro (talk) 23:39, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Please could you define what exactly you mean by "external publishers". This will help in our response to your query. Thanks, MattieTK 23:43, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
You weren't using external publishers websites as references and we don't include general websites links in EL when they have nothing to do with the topic. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:45, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

December 2008

When adding links to material on an external site, as you did to Wikipedia:Requested articles/Japan/Anime and Manga, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

 • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
 • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
 • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. You've been given a lot of chances here, but please actually pay attention to some of these warnings. Do NOT link to scanslation sites EVER. Do NOT steal content from other websites. If you continue this behavior, you are very likely to be blocked. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 06:44, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

The character summaries in this list do not need referencing, particularly not seemingly random references to the books as a whole. Rather, specific references to those individual books where the events happen, with page numbers, is much preferred. For now, why not work on filling in the other book summaries (not too lengthy), in the table, and addressing the notability issue. You might also want to use that welcome message above to review various basic guidelines about Wikipedia editing. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 07:18, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Assessment of Mangas

helpme Can someone please assess Shinobi Life and answer my questions on Talk:Asu no Yoichi! Extremepro (talk) 03:38, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

For assessments, post to Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga/Assessment. If you have questions about a anime/manga article and are getting no responses, post to the project talk page at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:44, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Please do not edit Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga/Cleanup task force/Cleanup listing as you did earlier today. This page is automatically maintained by a bot, plus you are not experienced enough to declare any article as "cleaned up" when the ones you create and edit are constantly having to be corrected after you make edits. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 07:33, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Volume lists

Please stop putting misleading volume lists in articles as you did with B.O.D.Y (manga). It is not an Manga-Inspired Comic, it is a manga. As such, any volume release should have BOTH releases, not just the English ones. Also, Amazon should be a last resort source, not the first one you turn to. Almost all of the manga publishers have release dates on their sites which is a more appropriate source to use. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 22:34, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Uploading image with non-free use rational

helpme

How do you upload an image of a manga cover from it's publisher, with a non-free use rational, cause Wikipedia Commons doesn't allow it. Extremepro (talk) 23:35, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

You can upload it on Wikipedia. See the "upload file" option in the toolbox on the left column of your screen. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 23:38, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
But it's not free. It's copyrighted but I should be able to upload it through the "fair use" clause. Except Commons keeps refusing to let me upload. Extremepro (talk) 23:40, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
The commons is not for fair use images, it is for free images. Fair use images must be uploaded directly to Wikipedia itself, not the commons. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:43, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I saw someone upload the entire series on Veoh. Does it violate EL if I included it in the article? Reply here. thanks--Eaglestorm (talk) 14:53, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Not sure. Check with an admin to be safe (I'm not one). Extremepro (talk) 06:05, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Have read the discussion below. I guess I did the right thing in putting in the Bandai Channel links. Thanks.--Eaglestorm (talk) 16:49, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Good work with adding the manga and other media sections, plus the Kyokujitsu no Kantai translation tag. perhaps when the Kyokujitsu no Kantai section is expanded further then we could split that off into a new article. --Eaglestorm (talk) 12:10, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

 • I'm trying to make the article a C-class or start class at least. I hope you can help me with my prose for this article. Extremepro (talk) 12:43, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
I'll do what I can. Been busy watching the VEOH stream. I'm already on Episode 23...and the Japs are kicking Germany's ass in India. --Eaglestorm (talk) 13:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Haha, I've finished watching the series, and it's a lot to digest. Why don't you register there too, dude? --Eaglestorm (talk) 04:51, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
I've got a really small internet limit (6GB) and I've got to share that Internet with my parents and brother, who downloads anime every week. ><" So I can't stream much. However, you can write your summary on the talk page and I'll try and edit it. Extremepro (talk) 05:03, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, I'll look over the episodes again and tinker with them in the KnK sandbox. or see the Ep list through Google Translate. thanks.--Eaglestorm (talk) 06:14, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Veoh

 • Can external links to Veoh be put up onto wiki? Extremepro (talk) 07:03, 12 February 2009 (UTC)}}
 • You can't link to material that is obviously a copyright violation (Veoh and YouTube are full of those). To be safe, only link official YouTube channels or videos in such channels of people who own the copyright for example Oprah Winfrey's channel or the one of the BBC. Remember that unless they state otherwise, the person or company who made a television show, film or video is the copyright owner. People who write "No copyright infringement intended" on a video page when they upload are still legally responsible (and acting illegally). Hope that clears things up. If you have a particular video in mind, but you're not sure about its copyright status, just drop me a message on my talk page and I'll look into it. - Mgm|(talk) 08:56, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Out of curiosity...

The WP:Babel userboxes on your page indicate that you have limited knowledge of English, Chinese, and Japanese, but you have no other languages listed there. I can't help but wonder, then, what your native language is, or what country you live in? You don't have to answer if you don't want, I'm just curious. ;) ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 19:20, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

My native language Chinese but I can only speak it. My second language is English and since I'm currently in an Australian high school, my English is better than my Chinese. I only have basic knowledge of Japanese.Extremepro (talk) 06:43, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Aah, I see. If I may guess, then, I'd say you moved out of China before you ever learned to write Chinese? Or did you ever live in China in the first place? (once again, you don't have to answer if you don't want to, I'm just curious ;) ) ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 07:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
I was born in Australia. My parents wanted me to learn Chinese. I refused to and we compromised by letting me learn how to talk in Chinese but not how to read and write. Extremepro (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
That makes sense. Although, now I have to ask (yep, more questions XD ), why wouldn't you want to learn Chinese? And are you ethnically Chinese, or did your parents have other reasons for wanting you to learn? ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 07:38, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm ethnically Chinese and my parents want me to learn Chinese to work as a teacher in China later. I didn't like that career path so I outright refused learning how to write/read Chinese. Or maybe I'm just too lazy to learn another language.Extremepro (talk) 11:19, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Aah, cool. Personally, I think it'd be awesome to have been raised bilingually (regardless of my parents' ulterior motives), but to each his own, I suppose... ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 18:24, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

helpme|How can I request French to English translation on non-Wikipedia pages? (like reviews in French) Extremepro (talk) 11:08, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, this isn't really a question about WP, but, I personally use Google Translate. There's quite a few others available. Good luck with it. --  Chzz  ►  11:14, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

(ec)What do you mean, non-wikipedia pages? If its an external source, you could use google translate or babylon, although these machine translations these give are only good for understanding, you can't use them for translating articles. On wikipedia, we have WP:Translation for translating articles from other projects, and WP:PNT for foreign language articles that people write here--Jac16888Talk 11:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

It may be worth a shot, although it may need more context as to why it's surprising that those two titles were Eisner Award nominated - I've opened up a discussion on WT:ANIME inviting others to comb the article for potential hooks. --Malkinann (talk) 20:32, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

FLC nominations and reviews

Hi, Extremepro. You may not be aware, but the new Featured list criteria was implemented Sunday 5 April, 00:56 (UTC) following two weeks of discussion at Wikipedia talk:Featured list criteria#New criterion discussion.

I've gone through the nominations and have noticed you have !voted Support, Oppose or Neutral at the following nominations:

 1. Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of One Piece episodes (season 5)/archive2 (List of One Piece episodes (season 5))

Please could you take the time to revisit the articles and candidate pages, and check them against the new Featured list criteria, and confirm/revise your !vote; any !vote made against the old criteria that is not confirmed against the new criteria will be ignored when the nomination is closed.

Finally, please accept my apologies for the brusqueness of this message; the same wording is being sent to everyone who has outstanding reviews, with only the names of lists being changed. Regards, Matthewedwards :  Chat  05:17, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Dragonskin

Hope you had fun at Dragonskin, and that Santa's elves didn't give you any trouble... --Malkinann (talk) 02:32, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Well one of the "elves" decided to give my group 6 out of the 25 possible marks because our team leader couldn't instruct us how to set up a tent while all of us were blindfolded. As for the fun bit, I had heaps of fun. All in all, our group just scraped "pass" and was ranked equal 99th in New South Wales with 464 points. Extremepro (talk) 06:11, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
That sounds like them alright. XD Dragonskin's pretty hardcore... my old school mate keeps telling me I should go as a leader, but I'm still kind of hesitant. How was the weather? --Malkinann (talk) 10:17, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Downpour on the first night. Sprinkle on the second and no rain on the third. It was sunny/overcast for the first days. Then this morning there was a really thick fog. Imagine having to wake up at 6am to "I'm on a Boat" and going out of the tent to see the campsite around you an eerily white. Extremepro (talk) 10:24, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Wow... Are you very tired after Dragonskin? --Malkinann (talk) 10:29, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Not really. Considering we did the absolute minimum number of activities. Coming back to civilisation was cool. Four hours on an express train with barely any adult supervision... Extremepro (talk) 10:35, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Haha, fun times. XD --Malkinann (talk) 10:44, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Why there is a "Girls Guide" userbox but no "Boys Scout" userbox? Extremepro (talk) 10:47, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Look wide, and then, when you think you are looking wide, look wider still. ;-) They're kind of American-oriented, but there is one for the Australian Boy Scouts there. --Malkinann (talk) 10:54, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Added the userbox now. Btw, can you look over Asu no Yoichi! and see what can be improved to make it reach B-class? Extremepro (talk) 11:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Are you sure you want me to do that? I'm kind of a tough peer reviewer. --Malkinann (talk) 11:39, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I want to make it B-class and my semi-auto peer reviewer doesn't really help much. Extremepro (talk) 11:48, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I've had my look - it's not a bad article, really, it just doesn't really put the "cast of thousands" into context. --Malkinann (talk) 12:42, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
So your saying that the character section is too in-universe? Extremepro (talk) 12:59, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
That too, but there's no story to put it in context - like, in Sailor Moon, Usagi learns she's a reincarnated warrior of many from the moon kingdom, and her ancient enemies are back to settle a score... - that puts her, and her other reincarnated warrior friends in the character section in the context of the story before you go into the nitty gritty of finding out who was found first and what their personalities are like. --Malkinann (talk) 13:12, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Some potential articles...

I don't suppose you'd be willing to take a look at the redlinks on List of manga series by volume count to see if any of them can support an article? Thanks for the link. They give me something to do. Extremepro (talk) 00:09, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Aside from needing a more complete plot summary and character descriptions/critique of characters, the reception section is very much biased towards the games (although you've done well there) - I've copied the relevant reception stuff to the article on the game. --Malkinann (talk) 05:37, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Fair enough. --Malkinann (talk) 00:16, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
The lead still needs some TLC, and perhaps the film could get split off into its own article, but you should probably ask whoever assessed it for C originally to revisit it. --Malkinann (talk) 00:21, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't think copying the reviews across is necessary. --Malkinann (talk) 07:18, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Annabeth (Percy Jackson)

The article on Annabeth is constantly being vandalized by IP addresses. While that can be dealt with, there is this big problem with the quote from The Demigod Files. Continuous reverts are going on whether the quote should be "The guy [Percy] has a lot going for him. He's courageous. He's got a sense of humor. He's good looking, but don't you dare tell him I said that. He's so ...obtuse. I mean he doesn't see really obvious stuff like the way people feel, even when you're giving him hints and being totally blatant. What? No. I'm not talking about anyone or anything in particular! I'm just making a general statement. Why does everyone always think...agh! Forget it." or "The guy [Percy] has a lot going for him. He's courageous. He's got a sense of humor. Sorry to bother you

Hi. I hope I'm not bothering you. From your user page, I noticed that you understand a little Japanese, and I was hoping you might be able to find the Japanese release date for Seal of the Red Ram (赤い羊の刻印 Akai Hitsuji no Kokuin) for the Earl Cain article. I have tried to find it, but cannot. (And if you can find better refs for the Japanese release dates for the other volumes, please add them!) Thank you. Kaguya-chan (talk) 22:55, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry; it's my fault. I should have been more specific (especially when dealing with a confusing series like this one). I meant Earl Cain Series 4: Seal of the Red Ram, not the compilation volume, which I didn't realize had a similar name... (If it helps, Earl Cain Series 4: Seal of the Red Ram should have been published around 1999, according to Worldcat.org.) Thank you anyway for looking and cleaning up the refs. :) Kaguya-chan (talk) 01:32, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing. Extremepro (talk) 10:58, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Togari PR

Glad to help - I would explain in the lead what the Toga are (sins). Otherwise to someone not familiar with Japanese it seems as if he is a mass murderer in the present. Thanks too for your review of Nordic Council's Literature Prize - sorry I missed that before, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 12:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Oops - I just saw you prefer that I reply on my own talk page - hope this is OK here. If not, feel free to copy my remarks there, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 12:05, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Brave Story

I gave you most of my thoughts on the Brave Story article prior to the peer review, but perhaps more on the film would be good. --Malkinann (talk) 07:03, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Annabeth (Percy Jackson)

Now that Annabeth's article's AfD has been closed with no consensus, can you help us in improving the article? You might also help in improving The Last Olympian if you have got the book. Pmlinediter  Talk 09:50, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Improving Annabeth's article - sure. But I haven't read the Last Olympian yet. Extremepro (talk) 09:52, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Have you got the book yet? Pmlinediter  Talk 09:55, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Nope. I'm waiting for my local library to stock it. Extremepro (talk) 09:58, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for all the work you did on Earl Cain. :) Kaguya-chan (talk) 19:48, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

The Lightning Thief's GAR has been put on hold. Please try to improve the article. Pmlinediter  Talk 12:38, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

I'll try and do that tommorow. Need to sleep now :)Extremepro (talk) 12:40, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay. Best for tomorrow. I'll be inactive though. Pmlinediter  Talk 13:03, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

As you might know, The Lightning Thief is a GAN. Any comments or suggestions? (Have to do something here, the past week has been boring; ever since Annabeth's AfD closed) Pmlinediter  Talk 10:03, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

I can try to peer review it. Extremepro (talk) 11:04, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Well another editor doing it. So I'll add my own comments after Wassupwestcoast add his. Extremepro (talk) 11:08, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
I have uploaded the cover of the audiobook of The Lightning Thief. Can you take a look at the article to check whether the placement of the image is correct? Pmlinediter  Talk 12:13, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
On a 1650 x 1080 resolution monitor, it looks good. The placement is correct but I'm not sure if the size needs to be restricted to 200px. Extremepro (talk) 12:41, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
It looks fine to me as well. Good job in editing the article. Cheers, Pmlinediter  Talk 12:44, 20 May 2009 (UTC).

Thanks. A few comments:

 • I don't get the point of the consumers heading under the reception section.
 • The reception should be right before the references. ie. move film adaptation section before reception section. Extremepro (talk) 12:46, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Exactly my thoughts. I asked NGG the point of the consumers section yesterday, but he gave no reply. I would suggest you delete it. Also, have you considered joining Simple? Pmlinediter  Talk 13:08, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what to write on Simple Wikipedia. Looking at other articles compared to en wiki, simple wiki's articles are wayyyyy shorter. Going to delete consumer section and move film adaptation section. Extremepro (talk) 13:10, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, the reason you pointed out is the cause of the fading away of Simple Wikipedia. There is hardly any interest for it. You might try it out for sometime. Try expanding or creating the articles with which you have worked at en. You might also try DYK. Overall, I believe that while Enwiki is a nice and complete encyclopedia, Simple is an exciting prospect. Pmlinediter  Talk 13:16, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

P.S. We are in dire need of good editors in Simple. If you join the project and remain even semi-active, the community will be delighted. Pmlinediter  Talk 13:16, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
