A tag has been placed on Submergence, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. —teb728 t c 04:54, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Hi, thanks for message. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide adequate independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, or they will be deleted. Although it had references, they were not in-line, so it was hard to see what facts they supported. Some of the refs were sales sites like Amazon or self-created like tumblr and penguin. Using just bare urls also makes it harder to check facts.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims or opinions presented as fact include: is a novel about the deep ocean, belief and love... The novel has been praised for its authenticity by foreign correspondents and by some involved in intelligence gathering... was named book of the year in Britain and Ireland by several newspapers and magazines... Icelandic artist, Olafur Eliasson, has singled out Submergence as an inspiration... Daniel Craig is rumoured to have been approached to play the part of the novel's protagonist... He is considered a leading thinker... Ledgard rediscovered the Ajar Valley...
  • There are far too many quotes sprinkled throughout the text, most of them glowing book reviews, the article is supposed to be about him, not his books.

I can put the deleted text in a sandbox for you to work on if you wish Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:59, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
