Hello, been entering info to wiki for decades but would never log in to do so. Created the Esteroinfo account not to long ago but I forget to log into that account when editing wikikipedia most of the time. Will have to read the username policy when I get a chance. I am not receiving any payment nor am I part of the Estero government or any of its civic groups I just happen to know a lot about Estero and the surrounding southwest Florida area. When I first spotted that the wiki page for the fairly recently incorporated area was very sparse, a few years back, I decided to actively start building it up especially as I happen to know quit a bit about the area. From what I am understanding, based on the information posted, I do not believe that my username violates the username policy because I am not receiving any payment nor am I part of the Estero government or any of its civic groups (nor do I claim to be). My username ONLY reflect That I know a lot about Estero, which I do. If there is something I am missing please point it out directly so I can understand it. I STRONGLY disagree with the FALSE claim that I engaged in “disruptive editing” and believe that this comment is a form of engaging in a bullying threat.("If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.")

The fact of the matter is that approximately 75% of the information on the page in question was contributed by ME both while I was logged into my account and when I was not.

ALL the information I have posted I have FIRST HAND knowledge of and know to be 100% factual.

From the Beverly Hills Wikipedia page: "Beverly Hills has been known primarily as an affluent location within Greater Los Angeles, which corresponds to higher property values and taxes in the area. The city is well known for its Rodeo Drive shopping district that includes many designer brands. Throughout its history, the city has been home to many celebrities. It is noted for numerous hotels and resorts, including the Beverly Hilton and the Beverly Hills Hotel. The city has been featured in many movies, television series, music and media, in the United States and internationally."

From the Las Vegas Wikipedia page: "The city bills itself as the Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its luxurious and extremely large casino-hotels. With over 2.9 million visitors as of 2019, Las Vegas is the sixth-most visited city in the U.S."

From the Naples, Florida (JUST 15 minutes alway from Estero): "The city is mostly known for its high-priced homes, white-sand beaches, and numerous golf courses. Naples is the self-titled "Golf Capital of the World", as it has the second most holes per capita out of all communities, and the most holes of any city in Florida. The city is also known for being appealing to retirees, and a large percent of the population is made up of them."

I can pull examples of this for most cities on Wikipedia.

I cited two different sources for the information I posted. If the factual information posted was "promotionally-toned" why are you not going to the Wikipedia page of every single city and changing it as it appears there is a different police used for Estero than for every other city? You cited primary sources. What is needed is independent secondary sources to support the inclusion of the content. Wikipedia has over 6.8M articles; just because there is material that may not meet our policies and guidelines in one article doesn't mean they are disregarded in all articles. -- Ponyo^{bons mots} 16:55, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have two honest questions.

1. Could you direct me as to where I can learn how to add the photos I have already uploaded to wiki commons onto the top right hand corner table of a wiki page.

2. What exactly do you mean by "independent secondary sources"? Neither source cited was part of the government. In fact one of the sources was from an arts organization that is located in a different part of the state of Florida approximately 150 miles alway from the where Estero is located. There website, was just describing Estero because they hold an arts festival there.

For the first question, are looking to add a new image to the infobox on the page? Can you provide a link to the image? For the second question, independent secondary sources are sources such as newspaper articles covering the subject. In your example, the arts organization is not an independent source because, as you state, they hold an arts festival in the city, so they have an affiliation/vested interested in the topic. Editing with a conflict of interest[edit]

Respectfully, having a lot of factual knowledge about a subject is a critical asset and should not be distortedly misrepresented as a "conflict of interest." Having direct knowledge is often the ONLY safeguard that prevents the vast amounts of false information that is posted on the web from flowing into Wikipedia just because well intentioned editors who where ignorant of the facts copied the falsehoods over. Respectfully, Wikipedia does not allow for personal knowledge on a subject. The opposite of what you assert above is how it works; direct knowledge is prohibited and notable information published in reliable sources independent of the subject is included subject to editorial consensus. People who are too close to the subject are rarely able to edit neutrally on the topic. Case in point...-- Ponyo^{bons mots} 17:18, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
