Since I rather rudely interrupted a talk you had with Jayen on the Idries Shah page on Arkon Daraul and Assassins I thought I could make ammends by contributing at least this:
Sirdar Ikbal Ali Shah in his article in Hibbert Journal 20 (1921-1922)pp524-35 The General Principles of Sufism on Hassan Sabah and the Dar al Hikmat: " A regular course of instruction in mystic lore was given to the devotees, and nine degrees had to be passed through before they were regarded as masters of the mysterious knowledge gained within the walls of the House of Wisdom. It was in the seventh of these stages that the doctrines of Sufism were more particullarly thaught, projected beyond ordinary education."
My own copy of Arkon Daraul is momentarely travelling with friends so I'm useless on that score, but interesting perhaps this link between father and son (under alias) ?
