Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Emilypeterson71. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Abishur Prakash, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. All of your edits relate to Abishur Prakash. Please disclose if you have a conflict of interest with the subject. 30Four (talk) 07:20, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, no I do not have any conflict of interest. I plan to create new pages and edit existing ones, I just have not had time to do so. Emilypeterson71 (talk) 19:56, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This account was registered over two years ago. I hope you're able to get to them soon. 30Four (talk) 15:07, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are no quotas or requirements of how many pages to edit, or how many edits to make, on Wikipedia. I would like to know why you have put a COI notice on the page I created, claiming that I did not reply to you, which I did. Emilypeterson71 (talk) 15:10, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I left the notice on your page first and noticed you ignored it, editing the page in question first. While it may have been reactionary, I'll direct you towards WP:SPA to understand my perspective. 30Four (talk) 15:16, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did not ignore anything. This is an assumption you are making. You did not give me adequate time to reply, after reading the guidelines, which you shared. Instead of giving me a day or two to get back to you, you filed the COI tag within a few hours of your question. This is not proper conduct on Wikipedia. I recommend in future situations, you exercise some degree of patience, as Wikipedia editing is not the main job for most people. Emilypeterson71 (talk) 15:18, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The notifications are immediate, much like how you're seeing these messages now. While you're correct in the sense that I should allow more time in the future, the outlook on single purpose accounts, including yourself, doesn't lend to the idea that you would respond at all or in any meaningful way. Your main focus on Abishur Prakash (only editing his page and uploading images only related to him over a course of 2 years) with no other interests/page edits leads me to believe you have a conflict of interest. My belief does not constitute guilt, as you've denied a COI. I have to take you at your word.
Prakash's page remains slightly promotional and requires citations for those two claims on his page, which will otherwise be removed. If any reasonable editor sees unsourced edits related to promoting a subject's career via an account with no other interests other than the subject of the page, they're going to assume a COI of some form. 30Four (talk) 15:29, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
