Suggestion about sections devoted to controversies, allegations, and accusations[edit]

Hello Ektakhem,

Welcome to Wikipedia. I happen to notice that your first and only edit so far was to the Marlon Brando article. Unfortunately, edits devoted solely to such things as sexual allegations or other controversies are against guidelines and seriously discouraged. For instance, the guidelines make clear that Wikipedia is not a newspaper: "While news coverage can be useful source material for encyclopedic topics, most newsworthy events do not qualify for inclusion. For example, routine news reporting on things like announcements, sports, or celebrities is not a sufficient basis for inclusion in the encyclopedia."

Nor should this online encyclopedia be a platform for scandal mongering, or "promoting things heard through the grapevine or gossiping." For example, focusing on sex scandals, which "may be based on reality, the product of false allegations, or a mixture of both," violates those guidelines.

And relying on a single British newspaper to add over 300 words, and an entire section, as you did, focused on allegations, gives undue weight to those. --Light show (talk) 16:39, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
