Revision of Gangrene

I had not wanted to revise what had been written. You on the other hand have gutted the page. Its a bit ridiculous for a medical information page. I did supply a lot of the corrections to mis-information and the pictures that accompanied it. I'll do a bit to revise and re-write from ground up. I might add that the divisions and separations into categories were entirely mine. Be nice to get a warning when someone zaps an article. It was on my 'to revise' list but will move up. The page was mostly copied from another site on the Internet, articles on Wikipedia have to be licensed under the GFDL they can't include information copied from copyright sources. There was no choice but to revert the article. I explained this on the talk page. Edward 21:13, 2004 Dec 30 (UTC)

Grounded theory article taken away - why?

Hi! As I am doing research using grounded theory (GT) and there was no article on wikipedia I edited an article for wikipedia I've written on GT before. It comes from my PhD dissertation of January 2003. I put some work into this editing and eventually saved it unto wikipedia and when I went back to check its status it was taken away. I was surprised by the watchfulness of you Edward since you referred back to a page where I published the original article some weeks ago. This page is btw a user forum for grounded theory so the content is not copyrighted as far as I know. Of course you couldnt know it was me Hans Thulesius the actual copyright owner of the article appearing in my dissertation who published it on Wikipedia and you dont know if I am Thulesius logging unto this site and writing this but I do have my name address with a major Swedish internet provider as you may be able to see. However, I wonder if there is any meaning for me to put work into writing for Wikipedia anymore? I love the idea of the site but it mustnt be too complicated for me... [email protected] Hans

Stub sorting guidelines

I sincerely believe that we really need to lay down the law in stub sorting, and really provide a guideline. I believe that we should all attempt to reach a general consensus by April 2, 2005 in a set of rules that we can follow. Once we have built a set of guidelines, we can formally create a policy out of those guidelines. We need to define what a specialized topic stub is, how many articles it should cover, when is it appropriate to create it, what defines its need for its creation, what defines its need for deletion, what criteria it should follow, what are the general steps should one take when sorting a stub, whether or not to start using subst: for all templates, whether or not use subst: for all templates created by the meta-templates, and any other matters that may come up in consideration. I thank jag123 for initially creating the subpage for the project at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Stub sorting/Guidelines. Even though they have been discussed, I feel that we really need to confirm everything. For that, we should discuss each issue with its own sections, and raise a list of issues that we need to nail down before really continuing on. The English Wikipedia is nearly at 500k articles. Either the MediaWiki software needs to handle stubs such that they can be found with a simple union of categories, or the sorting is done manually by Wikipedians. Personally, I think the latter is less taxing on the server load, especially when we use subst:, which I think would help the Wikipedia out, performance wise. Please make your comments at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Stub sorting/Guidelines. Monowi

Hi Edward (I'm a 74yr old who is into the Wiki thing, living in Kent). I was delighted to see that you had included The Times article under Monowi, Nebraska to, as I see it, put a bit of balance into all the US articles which tend to eulogise everything about America. I love the way every article on each city/town is exactly the same: gives all the demographic facts and nothing whatosever interesting about the place itself. I see that those statistics gloss over the loss of populations. A good example is Obert, Nebraska which has the 2000 population as 58 (?) whereas the town sign according to the The Times article only shows 39.

I have included a bit under each of the states mentioned - each state article again only shows the positive side. I don't know whether you might like to cast an eye over what I have done?

Title question

I think you may be right that it's a packaged version of the street food. I've bought similar in U.S. Indian groceries, but it wasn't labeled as anything - I assume because the package was clear and the contents were obvious. I missed the bhelpuri article. Charva 2

I've rewrote charva. It now:

• (I think) fits the criteria for passing NPOV
• States the differences between charvas and chavs
• Contains more information, and two pictures

If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. Photo

I copied the image and modified it to some extent. The image is also tagged as a "symbol" on the creator's website, that's why i put up the tag, albeit only after a very cursory look at the copyright section for symbols on the image guideline page. I'm not sure yet about what effect this has but since i modified and touched up the picture its not a direct copy of the picture. I emailed the creator and I'm still waiting for a reply. Although I have been a wikipedia user for sometime I'm still relatively hazy on copyrights. I haven't been able to look thoroughly into the situation as i've been very busy over the last few weeks. Addition of non-African flags section to Pan-African colours.

Hi Edward. I've been thinking about your addition of a section for non Pan African Flags to the Pan-African colours article, and I believe that it is, to say the least, out of place. Although the point can, and should, be made that the colours are not exclusively African, I don't think a gallery is needed to do so. Furthermore, this gallery could eventually stretch on for quite a while were it to be expanded to include more such flags. Image:Australian Aboriginal Flag.svg, Image:Flag_of_Lithuanian_SSR.svg, Image:Flag of Belgium.svg, Image:Flag of Bolivia.svg, and Image:Flag of the Shan State.svg, etc... black monday graph

hello, i noticed you've uploaded (and apparently made) the Image:Black Monday Dow Jones.png.. i think it would be far better to have the y-axis start at 0 rather than 1700.. then it would give the impression in real terms (i.e. you can see the proportions properly) how much the drop was. is that possible? cheers, Mlm42 17:53, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Some articles contain etymology and onomastics related info. Those with list of people by first name should be pruned, IMO. I cannot imagine what a huge list of Pavel's would be good for.
