Archived citation[edit]

You restored a citation (tax, smith commission) to an archived article yesterday. How did you find the archived article and url?

Is it easy? Riskit 4 a biskit (talk) 15:24, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I just put the URL into the search box at archive.org - it's got stuff since the mid 90s archived, and a great resource for all kinds of stuff, not just web pages. Wikipedia also has a bit more in-depth reading about rescuing dead links, if you want to read up, here :-) EditorInTheRye (talk) 17:00, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removals[edit]

Why have you undone three of my edits? I acknowledge Gamergate (reasonable campaign) was controversial but my Shoe0nhead edit was harmless and my large number edit was factually correct and a good stepping stone to Grahams Number. Did you see my Gamergate edit and undo all the others? YahooEditor2048 (talk) 22:52, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, your gamergate edit led me to review your other edits, which I reverted. You've already been warned by other editors twice, so if you're geniuinely here to improve Wikipedia, please take a break and learn about how we write with a Neutral point of view, avoid original research and use references for the information that gets added, as these seem to be your main issues. EditorInTheRye (talk) 08:30, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is it acceptable to present a biased point of view to neutralise the opposite point of view? YahooEditor2048 (talk) 09:52, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not really about presenting your views in the article. If you can find the view on the topic expressed in reliable sources, you can add it by citing that source. Take this edit for example - if it read something like "however, many commentators and peers have interpreted this statement as ironic", with one or more reliable sources backing up the statement, it would probably be fine. Now, I don't know anything about the topic of this article, so don't take that as a promise - just using it as an example. EditorInTheRye (talk) 10:09, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In hindsight you were probably correct about the Gamergate edit, I was in the wrong. Thank you for your advice on the other edits. YahooEditor2048 (talk) 10:15, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:1860 science fiction novels indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 06:35, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gotland citations[edit]

Hello! I just wanted to explain the referencing for the non-vote demographics in the Swedish Television website election platform. Since everything is in Swedish it might be a bit hard for a non-Swedish speaker to find their way around it. On each page there is a dropbox where you select a district and then the information about inhabitants, employment, foreign background, income and college education is right there, like this: [1] Scroll down and you'll see the numbers mirroring the Burgsvik district entry. Hopefully that clears things up :) Glottran (talk) 22:45, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I speak Swedish and couldn't find the info when I looked. I see that it's actually a click away from the pages you link, so if the information is there that's ok. Thanks for explaining. EditorInTheRye (talk) 07:33, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
