December 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. -- Cosmic6811 🍁 (T · C) 02:45, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link! I knew templates were a thing, but I wasn't sure exactly how to apply them, so the list is incredibly helpful. EasyAsPai (talk) 03:26, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Manually using the templates is a bit complex and it may be difficult to find the correct template. It's easier and quicker to use programs such as RedWarn. -- Cosmic6811 🍁 (T · C) 21:56, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edits on Maya S. Krishnan[edit]

Hi, the information on the page Maya S. Krishnan is sourced. If it is indeed not neutral, take it up with IP 603:8080:DBF0:8530:7A08:C49F:6367:BAFF who originally added the content (I personally merely added a citation and moved it out of the career section). Thank you -- Cosmic6811 🍁 (T · C) 23:59, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, thanks. I saw the original wasn't sourced, but I didn't realize you'd added one. EasyAsPai (talk) 00:27, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bob “Kakaha”[edit]

Considering the absolutism of Wikipedia’s sourcing of information, and how these things can affect the articles written to Wikipedia.org (despite errors), how does one go about making changes? The article cited, that has since been archived, erroneously spelled Robert Kekaha’s last name as Kakaha. This man deserves a proper article. How does one go about flagging erroneous sources in favor of better ones? Tattoosbybigmike (talk) 22:16, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Tattoosbybigmike. You maybe want to try the WP:BLP Noticeboard), because I am still pretty new to this, but my understanding is that, the simplest way is to present a reliable source that shows the correct spelling. The issue with just changing it is that the current sources for the article show the Kakaha spelling, so to use a different spelling is to go against reliable sources (and you might be surprised by how often people vandalize pages by slightly changing names).
If you have the better sources you reference, since I'm assuming that you have a conflict of interest with the subject, you can post on the talk page of the article, present the sources, and ask someone to make the update. EasyAsPai (talk) 23:22, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting vandalism[edit]

Hi EasyAsPai. Thanks for your help recently on a number of articles reverting vandalism. While the undo function is useful, for instances of multiple disruptive edits being made, you should instead use the page history to find the last clean version of the article and restore this rather than undoing several edits in a row. It's also important that you warn vandals, so that they have the opportunity to discontinue, and so that there is an escalation in warnings up to them potentially being blocked. I would suggest you have a read of WP:RVAN which provides further guidance and contains links to our policies and warning templates. — Manticore 23:59, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I couldn't figure out how to make the templates work, hence no warnings, and I definitely didn't know how to restore to a previous version (which yes, so much easier), but now I think I've figured out how to turn on Twinkle, so I'll use the restore function and add warnings going forward. EasyAsPai (talk) 00:47, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think you can revert edits using Twinkle itself; With it there's no need to use the method of going into the page history and using the restore function. -- Cosmic6811 🍁 (T · C) 00:51, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting in Zvi Thau[edit]

Hello! :) Can you read the following link? With Google translation if needed. The English sources I found do not cover the affair. Thank you! The link 2A01:6500:B107:A784:F968:D28:68:2779 (talk) 08:22, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I did just take a read through it. I think it does lay out the facts of the case as we have them in Wikipedia, except that it includes the alleged victim's accusation that the Rabbi is actually a Nazi descendent of a Nazi war criminal, which is an extraordinary claim that should not be included in Thau's article unless it has a lot of evidence backing it up (which it doesn't, per the story you linked).
Is there something specific you think the English Wiki article is missing on Zvi Thau? If so, we can start a discussion on the talk page about whether it should be included - that way more people will be able to take a look. EasyAsPai (talk) 15:22, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the positive attitude :)
In the English version it is written that "Israeli police opened an investigation against Thau following multiple accusations of sexual assault."
But if I understand correctly, the French version more accurate? That There were two women? And only after the opening of the investigation, it became clear that the charges of the first one are a part of a big and less probable charge? And The testimony of the second talking about an event from 40 years ago? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks again, 2A02:6680:2101:87E8:349A:436D:8DE1:26C0 (talk) 16:21, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@2A02:6680:2101:87E8:349A:436D:8DE1:26C0 I think you're right - it does sound like a stronger accusation in the English version. I'm not sure we want to use the whole French version, though, especially since it mentions the more improbable accusations. I will take another look at the article after work, see how it can be reworked into something a little more neutral, although obviously don't let that stop you from giving it a go as well! I'm going to start a discussion on the article talk page about some of the immediate issues I see, and we should move the conversation there, so that other people with an interest in the subject can find out. lau kwok kin at wolrd university game[edit]

Regarding the deleted content, I understand that you believe the Olympic qualification is NOT relevant to the athlete's profile.

he is the first one to receive official qualification in the AOR zone, first one from Hong Kong, so i believe it is relevant as the athelet.

Additionally, the athlete has been appointed four times as a coach for the World University Games. This accomplishment has been covered by various news channels, with one such news coverage attach below. By presenting the information in this way, it acknowledges the athlete's achievements without delving into specific details or requiring the posting of confidential documents. I dont believe we should post his appiontment letter as reference?

https://www.stheadline.com/realtime-sport/3256369/%E9%AB%94%E4%BD%A0%E9%BB%9E%E7%9D%87%E5%A5%A7%E9%81%8B%E6%88%B0%E5%A3%AB%E9%80%B2%E6%93%8A%E4%B8%96%E5%A4%A7%E9%81%8B-%E5%BC%B5%E5%AE%B6%E6%9C%97%E6%9D%9C%E5%87%B1%E7%90%B9%E8%98%87%E6%85%A7%E9%9F%B3%E8%A1%9D%E6%93%8A%E7%8D%8E%E7%89%8C Fatcataegi (talk) 01:51, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I understand that it's relevant to him that he was the first one qualified. But I believe that we can put that in the paragraph where we talk about his trips to the Olympics, which is what I tried to do. I know that it's a great indication of his skill, but the paragraph about qualifying on its own doesn't really tell us anything about him, just about the process for the Olympic qualifications.
As for the other information about him being a coach for the World University Games, it sounds like maybe I missed that in the sources I could read (I do not speak Chinese, so there was one source I wasn't able to use). Since it looks like you have a source, you should definitely add it back - you can use WP:CITE as a reference, to put an inline citation to the news coverage.
I've enjoyed learning a bit more about professional fencing through working on this article. :) EasyAsPai (talk) 02:39, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your response. I appreciate your willingness to consider my recommendation. Including the Olympic qualification in the section discussing the Olympic trip would be a valuable addition. Hong Kong has indeed made tremendous progress in developing numerous competitive fencers in recent years. Unlike other European countries, or Korea and Japan in Asia, fencing may not be the most competitive sport for athletes from Hong Kong. Therefore, highlighting Lau Kwok Kin's achievement as the first fencer from Hong Kong compete against fencers in asia zone to be the top ranking fencer to qualify for the Olympics becomes even more significant. It serves as a noteworthy milestone in showcasing the advancements in Hong Kong's fencing development.
Additionally, I agree with your suggestion to create a WPCITE when i create a separate section regarding coaching at the World University Games. This will enhance the content and align it with Wikipedia's guidelines.
thanks for the suggestion@EasyAsPai Fatcataegi (talk) 16:41, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

alex ovechkin/carey price sentence[edit]

How come you deleted the sentences that says Ovechkin showing respect for opposing players? People have said for year that Ovi has been "selfish" and only cares about himself when in reality that is absolutely not true. Those two example of what he did for carey price is a perfect example of what a chill and classy guy he is. The example of letting Tj Oshie get an empty net rather than go for a hat trick was a great example of him wanting his teammate to contribute too. Ovi is the captain of an NHL team and he always gets misunderstood by fans but those example of his respect for Price shows exactly the truth. Something similar was said about Crosby in his article by saying he opens teammates with open arms. That is similar to ovi showing respect to opposing players and it describes his character well. It isn't promoting substance abuse it is promoting seeking help if you have mental issues like that and how ovi showed support and respect for price when he and his return after taking care of himself. Is their a way i can re-add it but shorten it? I know it said it didn't have to be gone entirely but just shorten it a bit right? Can we work this out somehow? Thanks for your time 2601:40D:8281:F3C0:7410:FCC9:8D14:BA67 (talk) 02:46, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! If you want there to be a section on Ovechkin's respect for opposing players, that could be fine, but it needs to be clear and reference reliable sources talking about his respect for other players. EasyAsPai (talk) 00:03, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright thank you for your cooperation. If I decide to re-visit that I will make sure it sounds better. 2601:40D:8281:F3C0:5960:9529:5B4E:2136 (talk) 15:48, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Airrack Exposed Proof[edit]

Main proof (watch the whole video) is from a recent video from YouTuber "Soggy Cereal." 69.1.59.248 (talk) 00:20, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I said like that because that YouTube link I was trying share has a blacklisted code that wiki won’t let me send. 69.1.59.248 (talk) 01:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should read WP:BLP and WP:RS before you start adding things to the biographies of living person. Just because something is in a YouTube video doesn't make it true or notable enough for Wikipedia. EasyAsPai (talk) 17:04, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Revisions[edit]

I am currently working with Dr. Robert Watson as a media manager and his revised page was written by him, I simply applied the edits to the page on his behalf. How would you like me to source these edits considering that they are coming from the source himself? Natalijah A. Russell (talk) 13:32, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! First, you'll want to read WP:Conflict of interest, which lays out Wikipedia's guidelines for editing articles when there is a conflict of interest, such as being the article subject or an employee thereof. That includes how to disclose the conflict of interest and how to request edits be made to a page.
Second, we cannot make changes based solely on the word of the article subject or someone who knows them - see WP:No original research and WP:Verifiability. Wikipedia requires that everything in the article must be verifiable to a reliable source, so the answer to your question is that you'll need to find reliable sources to back up whatever information you'd like to add. February 2024[edit]

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Y. S. Sharmila. Thank you. — DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 09:04, 17 February 2024 (UTC) (strike off 11:41, 17 February 2024 (UTC))[reply]

@DaxServer Hi, I'm somewhat confused by this, at I actually removed unsourced info and the removal of the image (as per my edit summary) - any unsourced information to which you object must have already been in the article at that point. EasyAsPai (talk) 11:21, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I was actually confused. I thought you're the one who's restoring that material — DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 11:40, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DaxServer Oh, okay, no worries. Nope, I was just dealing with a specific addition, sorry that it still left it in a bad state. EasyAsPai (talk) 11:59, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

March 2024[edit]

Undid revision 1214011039 by R4Z0 (talk) The paragraph is not NPOV - it's entirely about the negatives, overly elaborates on the negatives details of things, and only includes two sources, at the end.

Hello, you undid my revision, even though it was not vandalism. The musician is from the Czech Republic and the video caused an outrage in the public. The video was full of misleading and false statements which drew attention of leading Czech media [not some local but national that are widely respected and read] which provided context to the information, because it was all too desinformative. I posted it on wikipedia since this "controversy" really hit the Czech public and the purpose of wikipedia is not about flattering the celebrities but about providing unbiased information.

I stand my ground that the paragraph I put in wikipedia was impartial (it mentioned on one hand his good faith but on the other hand bad resources). As for lack of my resources for the article, I am not sure what more to provide than the most read newspapers in the Czech Republic right after tabloids.

Novinky.cz: source from this website

Mladá fronta Dnes: source from this website

Beside these sources I can for example these:

Next source 1; Next source 2; Next source 3 R4Z0 (talk) 15:50, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I think that the paragraph goes into a lot of detail about the criticisms (including details on the Hamas attacks), which are not necessary to get across the point of the general critique of his statement. I will concede that your sources are good, but it would be better to have the specific claims that they support cited to them - sources at the end of the paragraph don't necessarily make it clear what statements they're supporting.
I'm not out to flatter a celebrity - I honestly have no idea who this guy is or that he's a celebrity (aside from a general assumption that he's well known, because he's got a Wikipedia page). I'm just concerned that the paragraph presented the criticism in a way that lends some of Wikipedia's weight to it, rather than presenting it neutrally. EasyAsPai (talk) 15:48, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey--I appreciate your cleanup in that article, but I had to cut half of it: Medium is not an acceptable source (it's basically a webhost), and I don't think we should accept "Realdocspeaks" as an expert. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 00:27, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, yeah, no problem. I'd grabbed the sources from the previous edit, which added them as external links, and tried to tidy the wording, but it didn't occur to me to check the reliability of the sources. Noted for next time! EasyAsPai (talk) 01:25, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. You can see, in the recent history, that there's real-life interest in the subject... Drmies (talk) 01:42, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
