May 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Opium Wars, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Talkpages[edit]

Hello! About your edit here: [1] One of WP:s many many (many) rules is that while it's ok to remove a comment of yours from an article talkpage that noone has replied to, it's not ok to remove that comment if someone has replied, and really not ok to remove/change other editors comments (there are exeptions). So please don't do that. More at WP:REDACT and WP:TPO. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:06, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Dylancatlow1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Christopher Langan, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 16:38, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I do have some affiliation with Chris Langan. Would you agree to make the relevant changes instead? I don't see how what I was requesting there is at all unreasonable. You can see for yourself how what is claimed in the Wikipedia article doesn't entirely correspond with reality...that many people would see it differently than the author of the source. Dylancatlow1 (talk) 17:06, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for disclosing; I've noted it at the page. As for your changes, no, I don't think they are warranted (as I mentioned on the talk page). GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 20:18, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
