Merry New Year[edit]

Whatever beliefs you have, merry New Year! We all mark that with new calendars, whether we like it or not! Regards, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 14:14, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and a belated happy new year to you! Unfortunately I spent most of the festive season in bed ill so I've not had chance to log on for a while. It's good to be back and to start catching up on what I've missed! - Dumelow (talk) 14:03, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Five or more years have passed since Richard Mohun, Winter of 1946–47 in the United Kingdom, Anglo-Zanzibar War and Zanzibar Revolution were promoted, so it's my pleasure to award this Timeless Imperial Triple Crown to Dumelow. Well done. Freikorp (talk) 06:38, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

TWL HighBeam check-in[edit]

Hello Wikipedia Library Users,

You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you. Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) at 16:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, if you have a moment, I wondered if you might have any more luck than I've had in digging up more information on this chap. He was a royal engineer and a FICE so I thought it might be up your street. Perhaps the ICE has a biography of him somewhere? All the best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:33, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Harry, glad to hear from you again. As you might have noticed my contributions have been few and far between this year - things have been very busy for me at work. I do try to drop in every now and then and have a play. I couldn't dig anything out of the ICE library except a report on the groundnut scheme authored by him (that I couldn't view), but I have added some further info on his military career from the Gazettes. I will see if I can find anything from some other sources later this weekend. Cheers - Dumelow (talk) 19:14, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Highlighted at the bottom of "References" is an invalid cite error tag; 'name "ryan" defined multiple times with different content'. Possibly arising from your recent (welcome) edits. I'm sure it can be patched up easily, but it fails me. Greets Osioni (talk) 17:16, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. It happens when you duplicate the name of a reference - in this case I had two references with the name "ryan" (which were actually for the same journal article). I have deleted the duplicate. Thanks for letting me know - Dumelow (talk) 18:23, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
