Welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as Andrew mears) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. Okay, maybe not nonsense, but you should at the very least expand it. Also, take a look at Wikipedia:Naming conventions. --woggly 15:23, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BJJ[edit]

Please go & read up before further edits BJJ developed from Judo which was still being formed from various Jujutsu ryu. --Nate1481 08:22, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Nate1481. Judo was developed as competition form Jiu Jitsu. Mitsu maeda was an axpert in Jiu Jitsu and only studied Judo briefly. All the footage of the Helio Gracie fights and newspaper articles in the Brazilian press regard to his matches as Jiu Jitsu

Yes Brazilian JuJitsu, if you read the history it was Judo brought over Helio (as mentioned in the article holds rank in the kodokan) but he line between the two was not overly clear a the time jujitsu did not originally study ukmi to the same level as Judo.
Judo in not competition JuJitsu, it has a separate philosophy. I've never trained in Judo but facts are facts. --Nate1481 10:01, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also please try to keep to the naming conventions used even if you dispute the facts. Look up romanisation for starters & try not to break wiki links to other articles.

Hi DrParkes, your source for information is wrong. I'm brazillian, I practice BJJ in Gracie Centro Academy, with Rolker Gracie. I will not try to convince you with credentials, I'm using the book about Antônio Mitsuyo Maeda which I own (did you know he changed his name to Antônio when he acquired the brazillian nationality?). I have put a few sources for this on the article page, so that you could read it. I unfortunately had not the time to rewrite the Maeda article itself with proper sources, but after that is done you will know a lot more about BJJ origins. I need also to work on the Carlos Gracie article. He was the first founder of BJJ not Hélio, but this information is blurred by all the Gracie Hype in the world! Hope to hear from you soon. Let's settle the disputes and contribute to better BJJ, Maeda, Hélio and Carlos articles. Regards Loudenvier 15:17, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And reblocked for one week for evading your block and continuing the edit war anonymously - NYC JD (objection, asked and answered!) 22:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please READ the edits, i've inserted tags so that the refs are at the bottom of the page gut don't interupt the flow of the text & added some invisible comments asking for more details. --Nate 14:17, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
