Adam Hunter (AFL player)[edit]

I've removed your speedy deletion tag. Note that "utter rubbish" is not one of the speedy deletion criteria. May I suggest you use WP:PROD? The article may well BE utter rubbish, and many would agree with you, but speedy deletion isn't always the best solution. Cheers! Mangojuicetalk 20:30, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since you're looking for copyvios, do you know about WP:CSD criterion A8? Basically, blatant copyright infringement discovered in the first 48 hours from commercial sites is now a speedy deletion reason. It's very helpful to use {{db-copyvio}} when it applies, because copyright problems always has a huge backlog. Mangojuicetalk 20:40, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Good example. I would say to use WP:PROD (make sure to add the page to your watchlist, so if the tag gets removed, you know). If the tag gets removed you can go to WP:AFD. Basically, any article there's a consensus to delete can be deleted, whereas we don't NEED consensus if we know an article is a copyvio. Strongly suspecting something is a copyright violation is a perfectly good reason to delete it in my opinion. In my days patrolling PRODs, I saw this as a reason many times. Lots of good work from you today, I see! I wanted to mention one other tip I thought of. In some cases, you find copyright violations that are also articles we just shouldn't have on WP no matter how they're written. In those cases, I like to do both PROD and copyvio; that way, the deletion may occur through prod, and then no one has to check the copyvio issue b/c it'll be moot. Billie Anthony[edit]

I have just noticed, with some horror, of your posting a 'copyvio' on the above page. As my contribution to the article was the most recent, I hope that your action - perfectly justified, in retrospect - does not reflect too badly on me. My recent contribution was merely to try to clean up the Billie Anthony page, and make it more 'wikified'. The inclusion of the link to the [1] website, came about through my google search to find a suitable site to link to. What I did not do - as in hindsight, I should have - was to cross check the information I was working on. You have clearly done so, and found the possible copyright violation. Well done, and a sharp lesson for me for the future. I must stress that the basic wording of the wikipedia article was not of my doing - I was merely sub editing the text as I found it. Am I forgiven ?!

Re Copyright Violation[edit]

The artcle Joseph Strutt of Derby First I must apologise for any misunderstanding. As the author of the original article I was not unaware of any copyright violation. However I now see that I had actually violatd my own copyright. Having severely repremanded myself, I have now re-edited the article so that it reads differently from my original text whilst retaining the historical accuracy. Please accept my apologies and thank you for highlighting my error.

I think you posted a copyright violation on this page. As I'm new to this, I followed the instructions and rewrote the page without any copyrighted material under the Temp link recommended. Thanks for the UF pics[edit]

You saved my a trip! Or part of one anyway. I'm working on getting pictures of all the Florida locations on the National Register of Historic Places. I was going to get the UF buildings on my last visit there a few months ago, but ran out of time photographing other spots. Now I can cross them off my list!  :)
FYI, I lived up in Gainesville for over two decades, and only moved down here to Ocala last year. Then I became a WikiWhore, as it were. Couldn't have gotten involved when I was up there, could I, no, that would have been too easy. Know what my last job was before moving? Working at the UF mailroom! Talk about irony, doncha know.
You mentioned on your main user page that you could possibly get pix of other places around that neck of the woods. If so, that would be wondermous! I have a list, and even have it somewhat arranged by area. That's how I like to work when there's several in proximity: park and walk and snap. Did that, for example, by parking at the Baird Center (Acrosstown/Mirror Image/Akira Wood/etc), 'cause there's several spots right around there. Anyway, whatever you could do would help, and thanks for what you've done already. Oh, and good luck with all the studies up there and such.  :)

Okee-dokie. How 'bout for starters
  1. Cox Furniture Store - it's office space now
  2. Star Garage - across-ish from the old courthouse
  3. Hippodrome State Theatre (on the list as U.S. Post Office, 'cause it used to be one)
These are all downtown, within a couple of blocks or so of each other. Just park, stroll, and snap!
  1. Mary Phifer McKenzie House (a/k/a the Sweetwater Branch Inn). The one I took was from across the street, and while serviceable, a better one would definitely be appreciated.
  2. Bailey House (Gainesville, Florida)
  3. Library East - could you get an exterior shot; the main entrance would be great (have they finished the construction on Library West yet?)

Sounds good, I'll try and get on those within the next couple of weekends. But, as for Library East, as part of the Library West construction (they finished it during summer 2006 I think, I know its done) they built a covered walkway to join the libraries and effectively rendered the main entrance non-artistic at all. I mean, they didn't attach the walkway to the building, but within several inches of it making it pretty much impossible to see the old entrance or to get a picture of it. That sort of disappointed me when I was looking for an exterior shot of it and decided to settle for an interior instead. I could get one of the sides, but it'd just look like a brick building then... actually, I'll try and get a shot from decently far away to maybe get the front, but I don't know how effective that would be. --Douglas Whitaker 05:28, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To make it easier for all of us to keep track, I made a list of the RHPs here needing pix, at User:Ebyabe/NRHPs in FL pix needed. Plus they can be sectioned further there, for travel arranging. Quadrant count ratio[edit]

Hi. Can you tell me why you want to delete the article you wrote — Quadrant count ratio? These requests are usually granted only if there are no other contributors (or if it's obviously something that doesn't belong on Wikipedia). From looking at the article, I don't see any obvious problems with it, although it's all over my head. Can you tell me what I'm looking for or why it should be deleted?
