UCR Anderson[edit]

Hi,

I think for the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management article we should keep all statements are are cited by independent, respected second-hand sources. I think for exceptions to this policy we also should hold discussion before deleting sections of articles. It seems all the negative content about the school has been deleted, whether posted by me or others. I know, for example, that maybe a year or more ago there was a statement posted by another user indicating that the school had lost its accreditation for a number of reasons and had cited this source with an independent, verifiable citation. Later, this statement had been deleted.

Recently, I added information about a lawsuit involving a professor and the school. I also mentioned that the school had had a number of deans a in a short period of time. We can have a discussion on this, but I do think the matters are germane. Regardless, I think the spirit of Wikipedia being collaborative, it would be best to discuss all cited remarks and their importance to the article before deleting them if they meet Wiki standards.

I'm worried the article in question is becoming more an advertisement for the school. I base these concerns on the fact that all statements seem promotional in nature. Because tone is subjective, I think that's what discussion is particularly helpful. I additional have this concern because many of the changes are being made by a user named DrDavidStewart, which is the name of the school's dean. Wikipedia recommends that users be careful about possible conflicts of interest. Also, something the claims need citations. For examples, it says the "Sloan Marketing Center" or something similarly named was ranked the best of its kind by the Wall Street Journal. I didn't see a citation, though.

Thoughts of others on the article?

I'm going to restore more critical assessments of the school since cited information is permissible and I don't see any reason why they should be disallowed, but of course there might need to be discussion on this. Additionally, users need to find citations for new claims that have been posted per Wikipedia standards.

Allright. You are more likely to get an independent assessment at WP:CAL or WP:Universities, as WP:UC is kind of dead these days. (Institutions get sued all the time, I think. I don't see what was particularly noteworthy about this lawsuit, esp as the plaintiff lost.) Amerique^dialectics 17:54, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
