LDU History[edit]
LDU was founded the 11th of Enero from 1930 with the legal name: Liga Deportiva Universitaria.
Los nombres oficiales de Liga son: LDU or Liga.
Liga de Quito is a nickname.
All this has a story, a beginning, it is always important to go back in time, to understand our present and look to the future with optimism and ambition; swells each has its own history, its version of the facts, data, and statistics.
This long road begins in the very illustrious Central University of Ecuador, in 1918, under the direction of Dr. Cesar Jacome Moscoso, here comes the "University" also known as computer equipment "of Doctorcitos" the idea of creating a football club was created to meet the needs of college students at the time.
The team grew and the idea took shape a January 11, 1930 born team LIGA and legally formalized with the name of the Liga Deportiva Universitaria 12 January 1930 under the chairmanship of Dr. Bolívar León.
On February 1, 1930, days after they become official, Dr. Aurelio Mosquera Dr. Bolívar León assigned to the amount of 500 sucres for LDU can develop in their sport. Times were different from today's, football was gaining an important place in the Ecuadorian fans.
As mencianos above, then the football team was formed by students of Central University and each by itself, of uniforms, bandages, ointments and others did; Dr. Bolívar León for example, was technical director, player and was also responsible for design of the uniform, be he who designed the first uniform LIGA, white shirt with a red U in the chest in a blue triangle and red background.
Students finished their classes and headed to the stadium of El Ejido with shovels and pickaxes to build arches and thus be able to play football and "train".
At that Liga Deportiva Universitaria team in 1930, played the likes Carlos Andrade Marín, Enrique Mosquera, Alfonso Cevallos, Alfonso Troya, "El Mono" Icaza, among others.
In 1932 he got his first League title after becoming champion of the Amateur de Pichincha, had been only two years after its foundation.
The first category of capital football that year, had five teams: Gladiator, Gymnastic, LIGA Atlétic and Cleveland League had won their four games and just left him to face the Gladiator in the last game.
The final was played a the June 19, 1932 at the Municipal Stadium "El Ejido" and Football League Pichincha champion was crowned after beating by 4 goals to 0 to set the Gladiator. The goals of this meeting were scored Bolívar León (1) Alejandro Davalos (2) and Humberto Yáñez (1).
During the following years, LIGA grew step by step, creating good foundation for the future, the title of Champion Amateur Pichicha not repeated, however, the following year, LIGA began creating his own identity and to make a football sheet "The Embroidery" for his good play, touch and exquisite spins.
LDU was founded on January 11, 1930 as "Liga Deportiva Universitaria." The social and legal reason for the name is "Liga Deportiva Universitaria." The records of the club in its foundation dating as "Liga Deportiva Universitaria."
