Unspecified source for Image:Gregg_Kelly.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gregg_Kelly.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 00:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Gregg_kelly3.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Gregg_kelly3.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. You should put everything you put on my talk page onto the image description page. This would provide the source and information about the copyright. We would need to use these images under fair use. Please read the instructions on that page and then use the Template:fair use license tag along with the fair use rationale. Thank you, and welcome to the confusing world of image licenses! --MECUtalk 18:38, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've actually added a rationale, you can see what it should kind of look like, and how it responds to (some, if not all) of the criteria in the fair use policy. I changed the license to Non-free fair use in, because the other one was outdated. --MECUtalk 19:30, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:NFL Chargers.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NFL Chargers.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:52, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Oklahoma.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Oklahoma.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Well, unfortunately, its the non-commercial use part that makes it non-permitted on Wikipedia. Wikipedia only allows images that allow derivative use and allow commercial use. That is why the helmets are not allowed. Also, you half to be conscious of how they are being used in an article. Images should contribute significantly to the subject of the article. Having random helmets thrown into the article does not provide significantly to the article. Now, having the player in the uniform would. Try reading through some of the following pages (there are many, many Wikipedia policy and guideline pages, its amazing how many I know of now): WP:IMAGE, WP:IUP, and WP:PIC. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know. And thanks for wanting to contribute to Oklahoma related subjects. I've been working long and hard on several articles. I've got the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Sooners football up to good article status and hope to get them featured. Also, with the help of somebody else, we got the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium article up to good article. I'd love to see more OU-related articles become high quality articles.↔NMajdantalk 15:18, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to 2007 OU roster[edit]

I see you are changing the 2007 roster. It is generally good practice to not create red links until the article has been created. Too many red links on a page is frowned upon. So, please do not create wikilinks to articles that do not yet exist.↔NMajdantalkEditor Review 21:19, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was using it to create place holders for future articles. I apologize. Desert sapper 21:21, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm.... ok. I see what you did. May want to brush up on WP:BIO in case any of these are nominated for deletion. For instance, Ryan Reynolds hasn't even played a down of collegiate football. If it goes up for AfD, it will definitely be deleted.↔NMajdantalkEditorReview 21:51, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose it just made sense to me to have a starting point for some of the articles I would like to work on. Ryan has played, not at the position he could be starting at this year, but he was a special teams contributor as a true freshman. At the very least, his high school career is worth mentioning, as he was a three time state judo champion and played in the Army All-American bowl on NBC. If it gets deleted, that would be unfortunate, but understandable. Desert sapper 22:04, 14 February 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Your additions to the OU NC articles[edit]

I noticed your adding a table with a list of the OU NC teams to some articles. I believe that table would be best served as a template. So, rather than having all that code on every page you would having just something like {{OklaFootballNatlChamps}} and when OU wins another NC, instead of having to change it one 8 articles, you'd just change it in one place. Let me know if you need help with this or go here: Help:Template.↔NMajdantalk 20:38, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I wish I had known that before, but learning it really will help the next time I want to template something. What do you think? Did you see Oklahoma Sooners Starting Quarterbacks and Oklahoma Sooners National Championships?→Deser† sapper•≈talk 20:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Another pointer, if you create an article that relates to OU, please tag the talk page so it will be added to WP:OU. To tag it, go to the articles' talk page and put {{WikiProject University of Oklahoma}} and if it relates to college football, also put {{WikiProject College football}}. See Talk:Oklahoma Sooners football for an example.↔NMajdantalk 21:23, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Darien Williams, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Image:Brandon Daniels.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brandon Daniels.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Wordbuilder 21:37, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I see your logic with regard to Image:Brandon Daniels.JPG. Images of the Sooners from the 1990s are hard to come by at best. Brandon Daniels was a talented athlete who suffered under some poor coaching and a terrible system. I honestly can't find any other pictures of the guy, especially nothing 'free use'. I also can't get the owner of the rights on the picture to return my calls or emails. In that light, and given that the picture is only considered fair use on Daniels' biographical article, wouldn't that be acceptable?→Deser† sapper•≈talk 16:28, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My response is here. I wish it was easier to find images that didn't violate the rules. Honestly, I have some good articles that are pictureless for this very reason. --Wordbuilder 17:03, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Charles Thompson[edit]

Hmmm... That is a tricky one. It is an FU image so the image should be contributing significantly to the article and it must be discusses in the article. I would say this meets the FU requirements, but barely. This is a very popular photo of the event that comprises a bulk of the article and there is even a section that discusses this magazine cover exclusively. It could use a little better FU rationale, but I wouldn't have an issue with its use in the article.↔NMajdantalk 19:41, 10 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Demond Parker bio.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Demond Parker bio.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:40, 10 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Speedy deletion of Nic Harris[edit]

A tag has been placed on Nic Harris, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD a7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Agamemnon2 18:45, 10 September 2007 (UTC) [reply]
