Thank you/Question

I first want to thank you for your replies to my question on using the word however. I really wasn't trying to offend anyone (which is why I didn't name the other user). Even so, I should have been more careful with the words I chose and avoided anything which even seemed inappropriate. A careless mistake that I hopefully will learn from and not repeat. I do have some questions, however, related to that other user's editing of my original question and the edit summaries they left. I noticed this when I looked at the view history for the Language page. I am not sure where is the correct place to ask them. The thread on the reference desk has probably gone off-topic more than enough (for which I'm partially responsible). We, in general, try not to get into personalities there. Thank you. I apologized to that person on that page, and struck out the comments that were found offensive, but it appears now that some new stuff has been posted by them page directed at me. Also, I have a question about the statement Don't edit others' comments and do not give any medical or legal advice. in the How do I answer a question? section at the top of the page. Does comments also include questions that are posted? My original question was edited (corrected) by that other person. There were some typos and words that were incorrect. No, the changes in your original question are not OK, nor are the personal comments in the edit summaries. (And the user's apparent need to make a whole raft of small edits, rather than one edit incorporating them all, is also somewhat odd.) But in this case it's probably best to just drop the matter and walk away; as I said above, the thread has already veered way off topic, and the ref desk is not the place for arguments. The incivility hasn't really reached the point where administrator action can be taken, and the other user is clearly irritated. Best to avoid adding more fuel to the fire. I don't claim to be consistent! If you run into such a problem on the reference desk in the future, it's best to bring up your concerns on the desk's talk page rather than on the desk itself (which is what Ihardlythinkso should have done in the first place). Well, I think otherwise. On WP, in general, when a quotation is not a complete sentence (beginning with a lowercase letter, for instance), the terminal punctuation belongs outside the closing quotation mark. • Bish, I'd been led to believe (by Drmies' comment somewhere) that you and possibly others were co-nominating. Maybe he was joking and my joke meter was off? Anyway, yes, delete that if there are no others. Indeed well done...and now if you wanna practice, the thing I found most useful is protecting articles - take a look at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection every so often. My estimate is usually to protect for 1.5 times as long as the period of vandalism, but rapidly lengthening periods in cases of recurrent silliness, or use one's discretion for a sensitive BLP for longer.
