Elektra samplers[edit]

Thanks for your edits to Sampler (record), which certainly added to my knowledge. I noticed you deleted reference to A Cold Wind Blows, which according to Holzman's autobiography seems to have been the first sampler issued in the UK (EUK 253, in 1966), and so in my view worthy of mention. I'll reinstate a reference to it, but if you've got a strong argument against mentioning it please let me know. Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:47, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've now added a Holzman quote, and edited the text to fit around it. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:37, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good job on the edits. I thought long and hard about 'Cold Wind Blows'. I was initially thinking that a sampler should consist of (mostly) material taken from other discs. In the case of 'Cold Wind' Joe Boyd specially recorded the tracks. So that was my argument for it not being a sampler. But, hey, it's great album and I am not 100% sure my definition of a sampler is the right one. Delverie (talk) 18:33, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't realise that - I'd just seen the artists' listing and assumed it was a sampler. But on the basis of what you say it doesn't meet my criteria either, so I think it should be taken out. Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:37, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RPS Journal confusion[edit]

I think I got crossed signals and may have messed up the info you added at infrared photography. Please help me fix it by filling in the proper refs. I asked a friend at the RPS to give me the title and date and such for the short citation you had added about the centenary, but he sent me the info about the Wood 1910 article, which I now see if volume 50, not 148. So, it's confused, and needs fixing. Dicklyon (talk) 22:57, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about botching the dates, and thanks for updating the journal name; I had trouble finding definitive info on that. I took out the number 10 on the old article, as I couldn't find any citations to verify it; if you have a copy that says it's issue 10, put it back.
