re Revert of 2018 Indian Premier League-Needless?

IPL templates

Hi can you please review the changes to the IPL templates of the 2018 edition? I personally thought the design looks good and and so asked the editor to go ahead as there is no policy restricting him to make such a change. Personally I don't have any problem with having a border for the templates. My main issue was the usage of alternate background colors for the matches (which has now been resolved). It would probably be best to intimate this change at WT:CRIC and see what majority of the members think about it. ​ Dee03 13:59, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

Reverting changes on Gauri Lankesh

The reasons were quite clearly mentioned in the edit summaries. The first revert was due to WP:COPYVIO where you had directly WP:COPYPASTED from the source with minor modifications to the text (see WP:CLOP). The next time, you added Supporters of Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, celebrated her murder on twitter which makes it sound like all supporters of Modi, BJP and RSS celebrated her murder. You should be cautious with the wording especially on such sensitive topics and give appropriate weightage to majority/minority viewpoints (see WP:RSUW). First get familiarized with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines such as WP:NPOV and WP:MOSWTW. Dee03 14:09, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Since the IPL has come to the end, I am trying to improve the above mentioned page for GA rating. Can you tell me what is the procedure for nominating to GA class rating. And also, article has been upgraded to only class-C and not checked for class-B rating. Is that necessary before nominating for class-B and if yes, how can I get that done. Hi Sagavaj, you've done a very good job in updating the article throughout the season. I had a very brief glance at the article and most of it looks fine. I spotted a few minor issues such as:

• MOS:DUPLINK where the same cricketer is linked multiple times within the same section. Also 2018 Indian Premier League need not be linked in this article at all except for in the lead and infobox because the context (the tournament) is clear.
• The full name of the person should be used in the first occurrence of the name, for eg, Saha opened with Dhawan to start chase for SunRisers but fell in an attempt to loft over midfield. should be written as Wriddhiman Saha opened with Shikhar Dhawan to start chase for SunRisers but fell in an attempt to loft over midfield. The subsequent usages of the name should be the person's last name without linking it to the person's article.
• Overall the match summaries are decently written but there a few WP:PEACOCK terms here and there such as "pulled off a sensational win" and "took over Warner's role to perfection". Such terms should be avoided as much as possible in order to adhere to WP:NPOV.

Regarding GA nomination, you can go through the GA criteria here and the instructions here. As far as I know, it doesn't matter if the article is B-class or C-class or even not assessed for it to get promoted to GA class. Typically it takes a few months for a GA nomination to get picked up by a reviewer, but you can bring the nomination to the attention of cricket project members at WT:CRIC and try to speed up the process.

I feel the article needs a small amount of work before it can be nominated for GA. If possible I will help you with some copyediting over the weekend. Dee03 15:12, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

I made some changes to the article - mainly improved the readability by dividing sections into subsections. Here are a few more observations you can work on:

• It might be a good idea to give a context of the IPL tournament points system (points per win, qualifier and eliminator system, etc) before summarizing the matches. See 2002–03 Arsenal F.C. season#Premier League for example.
• There are few instances where future/present tense is used. As the season is concluded, all sentences should be in past tense.
• There is a glaring inconsistency with the team name. The article title calls the team as "Sunrisers Hyderabad" but everywhere else in the article it is "SunRisers Hyderabad". The parent article uses both forms at different parts of the article. I'd say stick to "Sunrisers Hyderabad" throughout the article as that seems to be the correct usage.

Regarding the name, SRH team changed their naming from this season to "SunRisers Hyderabad" instead of Sunrisers Hyderabad which is also reflected in their official twitter & facebook accounts. Yes, I created and expanded the 2015 and 2017 Final pages in order to get them posted in the Wikipedia:In the news section of the Main Page. Hi @Sagavaj:. I had a cursory glance at the article and noticed one important thing - the age column in the Squad section shows the current age of the players. In such season articles, it should instead be the players' age on the first day of that year's tournament. See Chennai Super Kings in 2009#Squad, for example. Attack on Freedom of Press

During Kumaraswamy second tenure as Chief Minister of Karnataka. Post debacle of Lok sabha polls in 2019 results of Mandya constituency, where his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy lost to independent candidate Sumalatha Ambarish. Nikhil was reported to have been involved in drunken tantrum in Kannada daily Vishwavani News by popular investigative journalist Vishweshwar Bhat. Kumaraswamy ordered police action on Vishweshwar Bhat for reporting the story. This was widely criticized as 'Attack on Freedom on Press'.

First of all, let me clarify that I am not a Vokkaliga. Infact I am not even a Kannadiga. So your baseless "Vokkaliga sentiment" insinuation can be thrown out of the window. Your WP:BATTLEGROUND mentality is quite amusing.

This is a clear cut violation of "verifiability" policy on a WP:BLP. I suggest you read WP:BLP thoroughly before making any more edits to any other article, else you could face sanctions. He is not of "Indian origin", he is an Indian. There is nothing wrong with the phrase "Indian international cricketer" which is being used in several articles like Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. May I know why you decided to create articles for players who appeared in 1-3 first-class matches instead of those who had longer careers like Sunil Subramaniam and Kanwaljit Singh (cricketer)? I still truly believe that Wikipedia was built on the premise of absolute inclusionism - a complete compendium of all knowledge by certain SSN criteria. Maybe, 15 years on, I was wrong. Why did I write articles for single first-class appearance cricketers? Low-hanging fruit. *grin* And as I've said before, when I see - even after 15 years - threadbare articles on multi-appearance Test cricketers - it makes me sad as to the inconsistency of quality and detail of these articles. I'm surprised that when I joined there were still some Test cricketers missing - I even instigated the creation of several Test cricketers - as well as some very well-established soccer players. CRIN (or any SSG for that matter) is only supposed to give the presumption that GNG will be met if the SSG is passed. Baseball and other sports may have such criteria in place because they have demonstrated that one appearance is sufficient for a player to have "significant coverage." On the subject of this list, it's turned up 3 English articles that I'd missed. Most of the other English ones I'll propose for merger as I work through List of English cricketers (1841–1850) - that will leave three on the list. I think I have a way of dealing with Bull, who is of more significance to me, leaving Harris (which has an interesting addition to the article that I'm not sure about) and Allen (where the talk page is close to establishing who he is - we just need a specific insider source to be sure I think). That's why I'd rather redirect in most cases and spend such a long time developing and verifying lists - it gives us the opportunity to develop articles when the sources appear. It's a reasonable compromise position I think. Blue Square Thing (talk) 10:47, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
