(I put the help message at the bottom of the page)
Hello, I'm Mr. Kewon from Korea.
I am focusing on translating Korean wiki documents into English these days.
I translated up to 201, but I still see this message.
"Your translation cannot be published because publishing is only allowed to more experienced editors on this wiki."
I'm still not able to publish the document, so I'm very confused about how to do it, so I'm asking for your help.
How many more documents do I translate to become an experienced editor?
I'm planning to translate more Korean documents into English, so I'd really appreciate it if you could help me on how to do it.

You're going to have to go through articles for creation to make sure the article is up to English Wikipedia standards for now. Our article policies are probably different from Korean Wikipedias', so maybe you'll learn a thing or two in the process. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 11:14, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Choi Myoung Young moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Choi Myoung Young, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 12:49, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.
The mentioned document has nothing to do with the document I translated, and I think what I translated from the Korean document has nothing to do with these COI problems.
Someone wrote an English wiki document without translation and was rejected.
If there is a problem with my translated document because of this, I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what to do.
I can't find the document I translated anywhere, but I also want to know what happened to this.
I want to know if it's okay to translate and publish it again.
I think the document I translated from Korean to English meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and is ready to enter the main space.
In the future, I will do my best to translate Korean documents into English, so please let me know if there is anything wrong and if there is a problem.
I sincerely hope you are always healthy. Dckewon5131 (talk) 09:43, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I contacted you a long time ago, but there was no answer, so I would like to translate this document and submit a draft for review again.
Once again, I would like to inform you that there are no UPE or WP:COI issues.
I would really appreciate it if you could let me know if there are any corrections or mistakes at any time.

Lee Tae Hyun (artist) moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Lee Tae Hyun (artist), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Additionally, because it is a WP:BLP all claims need sourcing to verify the content. The article also needs copy editing for coherence and clarity. Having said that, he probably meets notability, however the article needs more development before moving to article space. Feel free to reach out to me on my talk page, or ask for guidance from the Wikipedia Teahouse, where several friendly and knowlegeable editors can assist you. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, first of all, thank you for your interest in my article. My article was translated into English based on Korean article. It is a Korean article that has a clear source and was written in a neutral way. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know anytime if you have any advice or opinions and problems in the future. Can Isubmit this article for review? Hello Dckewon5131. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Choi Myoung Young, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Dckewon5131. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Dckewon5131|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Netherzone (talk) 22:24, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I wrote an article about the artist of Korean contemporary art in English Wikipedia and wanted to let people know. That's the point. And there is absolutely no compensation for editing.
Thank you for your interest in Choi Myungyoung's article.(Dckewon5131 (talk) 01:24, 31 May 2023 (UTC));[reply]
Hello, and thank you very much for your response regarding paid editing. Do you know Choi Myung Young, and if so what is the nature of your connection or relationship to him? Netherzone (talk) 01:35, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Thank you very much for your quick response.
I am a freelance art columnist in Korea. My first encounter with artist Choi Myoung Young was in July 2019, at the exhibition hall where the monochromatic painter Dansaekhwa Choi's solo exhibition 'Conditional Planes,' was held.
At the time, I was interested in how traditional Korean calligraphy and Eastern philosophy are being connected to Korean contemporary art. When I saw his work, I realized that there was a very strong connection between my thoughts and his work.
So I interviewed him and subsequently wrote about the connection between traditional Korean calligraphy and Choi Myoung Young's monochromatic paintings 'Conditional Planes' on several occasions and presented them to the news media. I continue to collect data on this topic today.
My relationship with Choi Myoung Young is a pure and passionate one, as a painter and art columnist, expressing our common interest in 'Korean spirituality' through painting and writing, so it is not a conflict of interest.
Thank you for your interest in the Choi Myoung Young's article.(Dckewon5131 (talk) 14:39, 31 May 2023 (UTC));[reply]
Hello @Dckewon5131, thank you for your timely response, it is appreciated. Could you please explain how it is that you have obtained numerous photographs of the artist taken throughout his life, including portraits, family photos, and professional photographs of his work, and uploaded them as your "own work" as the author of those images? Netherzone (talk) 14:49, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Netherzone,
The portrait of artist Choi Myoung Young was taken by me at the artist's atelier in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The photo of the artist's workshop in front of the work in the 'Fingerprints of Mentalization' section below was also taken by me. Both photos were uploaded to Wikipedia with the artist's permission and consent.
The family photos, artwork photos, and the bottom photo of the 1963 Origin Painting Association exhibition were provided to me by Choi Myoung Young. These photos were also uploaded to Wikipedia with the artist's permission and consent.
Please note that all of these photos have been edited, organized, and uploaded by me after obtaining the consent and permission of Mr. Choi Myoung Young.
Thank you very much. (Dckewon5131 (talk) 08:08, 1 June 2023 (UTC));[reply]
Hello! Thank you for your timely response. He is definitely a notable artist so the article itself is not at risk for deletion.
However you do have a Conflict of Interest WP:COI because you are directly coordinating with the artist. Even if you are not being paid, there is a COI. You will need to follow our guidelines for COI editors; there is information on the link I've included for how to declare a COI, and how to proceed (you need to stop editing the article directly and instead use the edit request system. See WP:Edit requests
Regarding the photographs, they do not seem that they have the proper licensing, but I will have a closer look. It's fine to add an image that you actually took, however if any of the photos you uploaded as your own work were taken by another person, we would need confirmation that that photographer agrees to the use of his photographs within the parameters of the CC licensing, otherwise it's a copyright violation. Also, did the artist submit the permission and consent to release his copyright as the creator of the artwork to the proper channels? I'm not finding evidence of that on the files. Netherzone (talk) 17:43, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Netherzone, I am sending you the materials I prepared for the photo license you requested. I hope it will help you to resolve this issue.
I met at the atelier of artist Choi Myoung Young on June 3, 2023 to confirm photo copyright. He wrote the following agreement in his own handwriting and signature. I have attached the original Korean text of the agreement and translated it into English below.
The following is an English translation of the Korean version of the agreement.

And I met with the photographer, Lee ManHong, on June 5, 2023, at his photo studio, PHOTO- ART, to confirm the photo copyright. He wrote the following agreement in his own handwriting and signature. The original Korean text of the agreement is attached below and has been translated into English.

I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it, but if there is another way, please let me know. Thank you. (Dckewon5131 (talk) 14:24, 5 June 2023 (UTC));[reply]
Hello @Dckewon5131, this request and documents will need to be sent to Wikimedia Commons, (rather than Wikipedia). Send what you wrote above, along with the documents from the artist, and a list of all of the the image files to the Volunteer Response Team (VRT) regarding image licensing permissions. Their email address is: permissions-commonswikimedia.org.
There may even be a person at VRT that is fluent in Korean - you could ask about that. They are busy volunteers, so expect to wait a couple weeks for a response.
Here is more information about VRT: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Volunteer_Response_Team#Licensing_images:_when_do_I_contact_VRT?
On another subject, I tried cleaning up some of the translated text, but I think it needs editors who are totally fluent in both languages. I learned some Korean over 10 years ago when I was teaching in Seoul, but I've lost my skills. I placed a request at: Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English, but they have a long backlog as they too are all volunteers, so it may take a while. I wish I could be more helpful with this. Maybe someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea can help. You could ask on their Talk Page: WT:KOREA.
I will keep the article on my watchlist, and please reach out if you have other questions, if I can help, I will, and if not, I will try to direct you to someone who can. Thank you again for creating the article on this artist. Netherzone (talk) 15:01, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Netherzone.
I've emailed Wikimedia Commons with materials about the photo license, and I've also registered an "edit request" for the COI on Choi Myoung Young's talk page.
Once again, thank you for your interest and help with this article.
Have a nice day.(Dckewon5131 (talk) 07:35, 6 June 2023 (UTC));[reply]
Great, thanks for complying with WP's guidelines, Dckewon. I'll have a look at the edit request, and please don't hesitate to ask if you have further questions. You can also ask at the WP:TEAHOUSE, or for more technical questions ask at WP:HELP.
I'm also wondering if any of the in-depth essays or articles on his work are in English - that would help with the translation issues. Best regards, Netherzone (talk) 13:55, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I saw that another editor removed your edit request from the the article talk page. I am guessing they did that because it was not filled out (the request was blank). Write out what you would like to add to the article or change, and the reason why. Try to keep request short. Please feel free to re-add your request with the information included, and if I am able to, I will help. Netherzone (talk) 14:00, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Dckewon, I am wondering if you ever received a response from Commons regarding the photograph permissions and licensing? Netherzone (talk) 21:58, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Netherzone, I have not yet received a response from Commons about permissions and licensing of the photos.
I'll let you know as soon as I get an answer. Thank you for your continued interest.
(Dckewon5131 (talk) 15:16, 29 June 2023 (UTC));[reply]
Thank you for the response, hopefully someone will get back to you on these. I'd like to help clean up the text, because parts of the translation don't make sense in English. Do you have time to work with me on this? No one thus far has answered my formal request for an English-Korean translator. If you don't have time, I think the article needs to be shortened to just the content that makes sense in English for the English-version Wikipedia. Netherzone (talk) 15:53, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Netherzone,
For a better English article, I would like to take time to work with you. And please contact me anytime if there is anything I can do.
Thank you again for your deep interest..(Dckewon5131 (talk) 08:33, 1 July 2023 (UTC));[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started[edit]

Hello, Dckewon5131. Thank you for your work on Choi Myoung Young. User:Netherzone, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, I had the following comments:

Hello! Thank you again for creating this article on an important Korean monochrome painter. It is a wonderful addition to the encyclopedia. I have cleaned up the article, and resolved the translation issues to the best of my abilities. The subheadings were not necessary, and were incorporated into the Work methods section. Quotes were shortened and contextualized in this section and in the Reception section. Three museum collections verified directly to the museums, and others verified to Art1. The maintenance tags have been removed from the article. Thank you again for your work to create this article.
