Poetry of Mao Zedong Article

Hey there. I'm posting here because I don't know if you're watching the Poetry of Mao Zedong page, but I replied to you there. I wasn't deleting the article wholesale. I'd appreciate it if you could read what I said there and let me know if, given the problems that the article had before, my edits were still unacceptable. Also, please forgive me if posting here is a violation of Wikietiquette. I'm pretty new to editing here, and I would like to learn how to do this right. Luna (talk) 14:53, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Xie Lingyun, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lantian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Mutual appreciation and categories

Thanks for the encouragement. It helps. Frankly I'm always aware that you're out there and impressed by your labors, so the appreciation goes both ways. Thanks for all you do. If you have any input or feedback about Categories, please let me know. I'm hoping to improve their consistency. Ultimately that could be efficient on entries that have a lot of miscellaneous See Also links (links to Category pages could replace some of those many links), and in the short term it will be efficient for our personal overview. I figure "Chinese poetry" is the BIG one, and then "Chinese poets" could be added wherever it applies (it is surprising some of the pages that DON'T have these). I thought I'd start with those. Please share any thoughts about categories with me. Philipmerrill (talk) 20:31, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Huaqing Pool

Your article is about the pool, not the poem that was dedicated to it. There are thousands of people and places that have had poems dedicated to them or written about them, but this doesn't mean that the place itself is poetry-related. Your rude remarks in your edit summary and on the tp were unnecessary. I take alot of time doing these assessments. I always look the articles over before rating them. INeverCry 06:44, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

I really appreciate your thoughtful and calm response, and your enthusiasm for Chinese poetry. I know quite a bit about English and Russian poets, but really nothing at all about Chinese poets or poetry. I try my best in doing these assessments in order to get poetry and other literary articles better organized etc. I certainly agree that Chinese poetry should have its due, but there may not be anyone involved with wp:poetry right now who is knowledgable enough to do so.
I've had the same basic issue with a user here who writes expert articles on military and civilian medals. No one can match his knowledge of these, and so it's very difficult to assess his many medal articles. When it comes to literary lists, and projects, I'm often the only one adding info about Russian and Soviet authors. I hope you'll consider joining wp:poetry where you would be the resident expert regarding Chinese poetry, as such a person is obviously very much needed. INeverCry 19:04, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

WP:Poetry - assessments

So far I'm down to P in Category:Unassessed Poetry articles. I'm glad to see you've joined WP:Poetry. I'm leaving the Chinese poetry-related articles to you if/when you have time. There are quite a few of them. Next will be Category:Unknown-importance Poetry articles which has over 700 articles in it. INeverCry 01:38, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

What I'll probably do with these Chinese poetry articles is assess their class and leave it to you or another more knowledgable person to assess importance, unless their importance seems very clear. The importance rating is supposed to be in regard to poetry in general from an international perspective. With poetry bio articles, I often rate by the number of interwiki, which gives some indication of the author's international reputation. If a bio article has around 10 interwiki, I rate it mid; if it has 20 or more I rate it high; if less than 10 I rate it low. This can sometimes help with poem and poetry-related articles. Sometimes though, with poems, I look at the author's importance and the signifigance of the poem in the author's body of work. I also re-assess articles if I think they warrant a higher or lower rating, but that usually has to do with class rather than importance. Basically, I just do my best to give objective ratings with as much accuracy as possible. INeverCry 19:20, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Qingniao, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Shangyang (rainbird). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot (talk) 21:43, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
