Sir Bobby[edit]

Hey Dave, just noticed that you've started reusing the same citation for stuff out of the autobiography. Not a big problem but I'd prefer to specify the pages/chapters etc, since I've now got the book in my hand! That way we'll get a more detailed set of references. Just my (late night) thought... The Rambling Man 22:34, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, quick typo spot! Hope you're enjoying my expansion of the article. Feel free to join in, I'm determined, one way or another, that I'll get this to FA. It made GA today which is cool, but simply not enough! The Rambling Man 16:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. I'm going forward chronologically, perhaps if you're interested, you could focus on his European management success, it'll be a while until I get there? But any help is much welcomed, particularly copyediting and grammar/spell checking me!! The Rambling Man 16:49, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Copyedit forthcoming. Good work. The Rambling Man 19:29, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, noticed that while I was away you made several mods to Bobby's article, great. I'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing at the moment and will probably nominate it for FAC within the week. It'd be great if you'd like to help me deal with the onslaught of criticism I expect! Cheers The Rambling Man 16:40, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering if you could give me any advice on how I could impove this article? Buc 16:38, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback I've addressed most of the issues you raised but can you explain to me why you feel the bit about him being a ball boy shouldn't be in the lead. Buc 16:17, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just copyedited this - I'll post it for proofreading, but I doubt it will get done before the FAC comes to a close. Good luck with FAC and let me know if you have any questions. Cricketgirl 14:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, about the repeated text thing, I was trying to edit the article, when my computer froze. When a pasted my copyedit, the save page button would'nt work so I pushed paste again. So you know Showmanship is the key 00:30, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

James Milner Career section[edit]

Not really asking for full feedback on this article (although I wouldn’t mind it). I’d just like to know what you feel the best way the divide up the Career section is, by Club, by season, not at all or some other way. Please leave your reply under the section in my talk page named “Milner Career section”. Buc 16:45, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently trying to get Robbie Fowler to GA, but it's been pointed out that there's a possible licensing issue with the image you uploaded. It is tagged as Creative Commons-Attribution-2.0, but the page on Flickr lists the license as Creative Commons-Attribution-No Derivative Works-2.0. As the Fowler image is a cropped version of the one on Flickr, it is a derivative work. Did you happen to email the Flickr user about using a cropped version on Wikipedia or something like that? Thanks for your support, his article was promoted to featured status last night. Hurrah! The Rambling Man 10:20, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments made. Hope they help! The Rambling Man 16:07, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just letting you know they article is currently having a PR. This is quite important to me as I plan to make it a FAC once it is over. Buc 18:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok I've addressed to most of the pionts raised. And I've replied to all the rest. Buc 12:01, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:Gerrard myautobiography.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gerrard myautobiography.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Stoke City history ++[edit]

Hi Dave, just a quick word to say I've now given my support to the History of Stoke City F.C. article, it's good work. Fancy casting a glance at List of Ipswich Town F.C. managers which is currently at WP:FLC for me? All comments gratefully received... The Rambling Man 08:32, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dave, I've got another article up at WP:FLC, it's Ipswich Town F.C. seasons - it'd be good if you could have a look at it and criticise! Cheers. The Rambling Man 17:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

James Milner Off the pitch section[edit]

Over the past few weeks I’ve been researching desperately to try and expand this section. But for the most part I can only find very trivial facts. Another user has told me that off the pitch sections are not mandatory and in this case it would be best to remove it completely. I’m not so sure, however minor his off the pitch activities might be it would be useful to give an idea of what he’s like as a person.

Please give me your views. Should it be expanded, removed completely or charged in some other way. Please give your views in the Milner Off the pitch section on my talk page. Buc 16:38, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

James Milner FAC[edit]

I don’t know if you’re aware but James Milner is a current FAC. It has been one for about a week now but so far only one user has provided feedback. Since have given feedback on this article in the past I hope you can provide some here. Buc 19:31, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dave. I hate to 'spam' but since you've been so useful in the past and generous with your time, I've come calling again to see if you'll help review and push List of Ipswich Town F.C. players to featured list status. It's recently been completely overhauled, so I've kicked off a peer review which I'm hoping you'll contribute to. Thanks in advance, The Rambling Man 16:47, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions at the peer review. I've taken the bold step of moving the list over to WP:FLC so I'd be grateful for your support/comments etc there. Thanks again. The Rambling Man 16:17, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've expanded this article recently to cover his Newcastle & Arsenal days, but the bit on his career at Stoke City could do with a bit of expansion. As you seem to be Wikipedia's resident Stoke City expert I'd welcome any additions you could make on that aspect of his career, and indeed any other parts of the article. Thanks! Speedy deletion of Image:Giggs.JPG[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Giggs.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Giggs.JPG|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 16:32, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Gerrard myautobiography.jpeg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Gerrard myautobiography.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 13:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Gerrard myautobiography.jpeg)[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Gerrard myautobiography.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Replaceable fair use Image:Stanstatue.JPG[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Stanstatue.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:40, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. We're into the last five days of the Women in Red World Contest. There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!
