Your Teahouse question

Your edit summaries keep getting removed as they are unsourced. Using your own knowledge in adding content is wp:original research, is not wp:verifiable and is bad practice. As anyone can edit Wikipedia, the only way content can have credibility is through its sources. I am not sure what are considered reliable sources (RS).

You have been reverted once already and asked to take it to the talk page. Comments like "it was not sent to radio" thereofre its just a promotional single etc is original research. You need a source to make claims like a song is a promotional single. Songs released out of US are often released without radio specific dates because there are lots of countries where either airplay doesn't count towards charts or not as significant. I have asked you to take it to the talkpage if you want to change the original state of the page. Show me a reliable source that says if a song isn't formally sent to "radio" its a promotional single? That's Original Research. Also not every song on smile got a music video- factually not true. Lots of songs are remixed when they're released as singles, think "Confetti". The US is the only country in the world where radio adds are significant but there is a whole world out there aside from the United States. Smile didn't do well commercially, so the label didn't support it with radio promotion. A song that is independently released of the album is a generally a single. A promotional single has to be in promotion of something specific like a tour, countdown to an album or some other product like a movie etc. If "CAIL" is a promotional single, what is it in promotion of? I've been editing a long time (since 2009) and have seen music industry practises change and adapt to the digital world. I also have a lot of experience with music articles on wikipedia and how to get your point across. Per WP:CONSENSUS and WP:EDITWAR, if you disagree with the current standards/edits and have already been reverted once, the owness and responsibility is on YOU to leave the article as it is and start a discussion on the talkpage. Until there is a common agreed point of view supported by relevant reliable sources the article should stay as it is. WP:DUCK applies too - generally speaking music videos are a good indication that a song might be a single, as is at least one independent release from the album. Given that the song wasn't promoting something specific, its not a promotional single. First of all assume good faith, don't be rude. Second of all, I've been editing since 2008.. I've seen the music industry change loads. The literal definition of a single is independent release from an album. Third of all, Genius.com is a not a reliable source see discussion here and here. Genius.com is not reliable because anyone can make an account and make edits to edits. It is a bit like sourcing wikipedia as source on wikipedia. What you have just done is demonstrate original research. You have an opinion so you've found a source that matches your opinion instead of looked objectively at what evidence is out there. An independent release from an album makes a song a single. It's only a promotional single if it is called one or referred to one by the artist. Single is sent to radio, promotional single isn't. You can ask anyone about that. Promo single is a song that is independedly released (sometimes it gets a music video/lyric video) and is not sent to radio. This is a fact. Danielmusiclover (talk) 07:09, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Songs don't have to be sent to radio to be a single - show me where it says this is the case?. Outside of the United States, songs aren't serviced to radio the same way. What you have said is an opinion not sourced by any facts. If what you said is true (which it isn't), "Woohoo" was sent to radio here so that it a single not a song by your logic. Information on wikipedia has to be WP:VERIFIABLE and supported by a Reliable Source. Please try to understand before making claims next time. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 19:58, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
