Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:31, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Senator edits[edit]

Hello. Was just wondering why you removed the predecessor/successor fields in edits like this? Cheers, Number 57 20:40, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! The information on "predecessor" and "successor" fields for Argentine senators appears to come from the Argentine Senate website, which rather accounts for "replacements". This makes sense for senators who have filled in for vacancies following the party list order (such as Juliana Di Tullio in 2021, who filled in for Jorge Taiana). But it also shows "replacement" data for senators who fulfilled their mandates in full, following the logic of first majority seat, second majority seat, and minority seat. My guess is that this is some sort of internal logic of the Senate archives in order to keep better track of mandates, but to use that information for "successor" or a "predecessor" is inaccurate. From a constitutional and plainly political standpoint, the position is "Senator of the Argentine Nation for the Province of X", not "Senator of the Argentine Nation for the Province of X, First Majority Seat". To use that information in the predecessor and successor fields in infoboxes would be misleading. Hope that clears it up! dainshku talk page 23:27, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Aguilar moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Brian Aguilar, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) WP:NFOOTY is no longer a valid SNG, so GNG must be met. It needs several refs from independent, reliable, secondary sources to pass WP:GNG. It should have at least 3 of those. Please remember that routine sports coverage does not satisfy GNG, and that interviews, being primary sources, do not go to notability either. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Romina Uhrig entry[edit]

Hello, Dainshku.

You had wrote this in the last undo you did in Romina Uhrig entry: "Irrelevant, wanton content from unreliable sources."

Noticias is a very well-known magazine in Argentina that is not only years old but has done a lot of journalistic research for decades. It can hardly be considered an unreliable source.

Noticias belongs to the Perfil group, a well-known Argentine multimedia company with a long history. Hard to call it an unreliable source. https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noticias_(revista_argentina).

The first reference is to a twitter, since it is one of first persons who began to make the information public, and actually publish even copies of oficial state information. It can be considered unreliable but, as the information begins to appear in more serious media, it is difficult to consider it a completely unreliable source. And definitely it is not neither wanton or irrelevant information as it impacts directly to the person's political carreer and to her current performance in the entertainment industry. The information isn't about her being guilty but being questioned.

The link to the journalistic program specialized in entertainment is to demonstrate that it has reached TV and because the person had decide to be in the entertainment industry (and so becoming a person of interest for such shows). It is difficult to consider America TV an unreliable source, as it's an important TV channel in Argentina. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am%C3%A9rica_TV

Lastly, Urgente 24 is an independent journalistic newsletter and is a reference to demonstrate that it is not something that only large media is covering (such as America TV or Perfil), but that a small and independent media is also reporting it.

Regarding the information, it is extremely pertinent to both Big Brother and the political career of this person and not posting what front-line news outlets are reporting seems wrong to me.

If you consider the media that I have mentioned as unreliable sources, why had you leave references to, for example, lanoticia1.com (reference 2 in the article), which is not different than Urgente 24? Or why you are leaving reference 1 to web.archive instead of a current links? Or why are references to other media like Infobae that is not different than Noticias?

I hope you reconsider your opinion.

Thanks, Tom. TomAlem (talk) 06:45, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
