January 2019[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Staten Island has been reverted.
Your edit here to Staten Island was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://professionalbowlersassociation.wikia.com/wiki/Ben_McNevich) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to an external Wiki, then please note that these links should generally not be included (see 'links to avoid' #12).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Horse racing in the United States] into Sports in the New York metropolitan area. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:01, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for February 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sports in the New York metropolitan area, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American Eclipse (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Governors Island Golf Course. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:27, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted because it included copyrighted content, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work.

The material is used I received from the golf association which was written long before there was a Richmond County Country Club website. Can you tell the me the specific text where there is an issues? Your comment is very generic and difficult for me to act on. I will edit the text to make it comply to Wikipedia standards. Where do I get access to my sandbox? I cannot find what I submitted. Thanks. Cusack301 (talk) 17:35, 27 February 2019 (UTC) cusack301[reply]

I believed the version that was reviewed has been updated to eliminate and modify some of the text where there was an issue. Unfortunately I cannot get access to the text that I updated since I submitted the original page. Has it been deleted? This is the first page I created and I thought I would have an opportunity to make updates before it being published. Thanks. Cusack301 (talk) 18:16, 27 February 2019 (UTC)cusack301[reply]

I don't understand why you were having problems getting the draft accepted; it cites sources adequately and the club is name checked in the main Staten Island and Eugenius Harvey Outerbridge articles (both with sources), which indicates we can have an article about it. Argyle Country Club submission[edit]

When I originally submitted this article it was declined due to copyright issues. The note said there would be an additional review, but I ran the article through the copyright tool and found a number of issues. The original note told me to correct the problems and resubmit the article for review - which I did, twice. Each time in response I've received: "This appears to be a duplicate of another submission, Argyle Country Club, which is also waiting to be reviewed. To save time we will consider the other submission and not this one."

The original article needs to be deleted, it has issues and is only going to fail the review again. I would like to resubmit the article with the corrections I have made, I've checked the new source using the copyright tool.

Thanks for your help. Chris Cusack301 (talk) 19:55, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame logo Staten Island New York.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame logo Staten Island New York.jpg, which you've attributed to uthor Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:07, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
