Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on ESMO Corporation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. @TheMesquito: Hello, I am not the creator of this page. I had moved it to Draftspace as the page was under construction by the page creator. You can see here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Narine1202#ESMO_Corporation Thanks. Csgir (talk) 07:17, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
it seems you advised the contributor: "Complete the page first and then move it to mainspace" It might have been better to have said "Complete the page first and then submit it to review". It seems to have caused some confusion. (see: User talk:Narine1202) DGG ( talk ) 17:05, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
@DGG: When we mark a page for speedy deletion, isn't the original page creator automatically notified with the notice? Didn't understand why I received the notice and the original page creator User:Narine1202 didn't get one - I checked the user's Talk page. Seemed strange. Csgir (talk) 12:08, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi @Csgir and @DGG, this was also the reason why I moved the draft to the article space directly but now I have already completed the page so please, could you check and vote whether you think the article should stay or go. Also, please suggest if you think it's better to add Korean sources which are more than english ones, I was just concerned that there will be some language problem. Thank you, Narine1202 Narine1202 (talk) 12:32, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

March GOCE newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors March 2019 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the March newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since December 2018. All being well, we're planning to issue these quarterly in 2019, balancing the need to communicate widely with the avoidance of filling up talk pages. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below.

January Drive: Thanks to everyone for the splendid work in January's Backlog Elimination Drive. We removed copyedit tags from all of the articles tagged in our original target months of June, July and August 2018, and by 24 January we ran out of articles. After adding September, we finished the month with 8 target articles remaining and 842 left in the backlog. GOCE copyeditors also completed 48 requests for copyedit in January. Of the 31 people who signed up for this drive, 24 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Blitz: Thanks to everyone who participated in the February Blitz. Of the 15 people who signed up, 13 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed 32 copyedits, including 15 requests. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: As of 23:39, 18 March 2019 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors have completed 108 requests since 1 January and the backlog stands at 851 articles.

March Drive: The month-long March drive is now underway; the target months are October and November 2018. Awards will be given to everyone who copyedits at least one article from the backlog. Sign up here!

Election reminder: It may only be March but don't forget our mid-year Election of Coordinators opens for nominations on 1 June. Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Miniapolis, Baffle gab1978, Jonesey95, Reidgreg and Tdslk.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Transgender rights in the United Kingdom, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Equality Act (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Thanks a ton, @Tdslk:. I want to show the barnstars on my userpage. Can you please help me with the process? Thank you. Csgir (talk) 04:19, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Good question. What did you have in mind? You could always just copy and paste the code to your userpage, but that would take up a lot of space and not look that nice. I have seen attractive barnstar displays on some userpages, so I know it can be done, but I've never tried it myself. I would recommend checking out other userpages and, if you find one with a nice way of displaying barnstars, try and copy the formatting. I would be happy to help if you have any problems with that process. Regards, Tdslk (talk) 04:56, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Women in Red

Hi there, Csgir, and welcome to Women in Red. I see you recently wrote a biography of a woman, A Lalitha. I hope there will be many more. In this connection, you might find it useful to look through our Primer. Please let me know if you experience any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 08:52, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

@Ipigott: Hi, and thanks for the welcome! I went ahead and created another article as part of the Women in Red project, which is - Anshula Kant. If you have time, kindly have a look at it and tell me if anything is amiss. Csgir (talk) 07:10, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for this new article. The only possible problem is that all your sources are in connection with her very recent new appointment. It would be good if you could add earlier sources reporting on her background. As you will see, I've also added authroity control, default sort and a number of categories. Keep up the good work.--Ipigott (talk) 08:38, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
@Ipigott: Right, thank you. I will keep in mind the authority control and default sort tags in the next articles, and review my previous ones since I started here and them in the necessary pages. For her page, I went back to 2018 when she was the SBI MD but I have found more - will be adding them. Csgir (talk) 05:24, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Copy edit notes

Thanks for your recent copy edits. I have a few notes I'd like you to address:

  • Battle of Adwa
    • MOS:SLASH recommends to avoid the slash character / which indicates association between two things but isn't clear what that association is. In the case of (3,800 rifles / 18 cannons), I think a comma or the word and should be used as it is simply listing things.
    • Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Abbreviations#Abbreviations widely used in Wikipedia gives some abbreviations commonly used in Wikipedia without explanation, such as common military ranks. These include Col. or Col, Maj. or Maj, Lt. or Lt, etc. – pick one form and apply consistently in the article. So these should all have an initial capital and a space between the abbreviation and the name (ideally a non-breaking space). If you want to be extra fancy, you can define the terms by using {{abbr|Col|Colonel}} on first occurrence.
  • Gary Barta
    • Since he moved around a bit, it would probably be good to list the states with the cities/towns, to provide context, particularly in the early parts of the article. eg: and grew up in the Minneapolis area.and grew up in the Minneapolis, Minnesota, area. and He and his wife Connie, a native of Waterloo, have two children. He and his wife Connie, a native of Waterloo, Iowa, have two children. Remember the second comma per MOS:GEOCOMMA.
    • The three short sections at the beginning could probably be combined into one section, maybe Personal life and education.
    • There's a missing space after the terminal punctuation at on 1 August 2006.He has spearheaded and also further down 11th(out of 11), etc.
    • The date ranges there should have en-dashes: 2006-072006–07.
    • including the expansion of the administrative office complex at Carver–Hawkeye Arena, the expansion of the wrestling training facility, and the building of new practice gyms and weight training facilities at the Carver–Hawkeye Arena. See if you can rephrase that so that it doesn't repeat "Carver–Hawkeye Arena".
      • In the next paragraph down, "Carver–Hawkeye" is given with a hyphen instead of a dash; these should be consistent.
    • The Controversy section is long, overly detailed, and I'm not sure a lot of that material belongs with the biography. It doesn't state that Barta himself was named in any of the lawsuits. Putting that much emphasis on lawsuits which don't name him could be a neutrality/BLP problem. This material might better belong in the article for University of Iowa or Iowa Hawkeyes. With that in mind, you may want to consider how much effort to put into this and whether you want to take the whole wordcount. If you don't feel up to rewriting the section yourself, consider tagging it with {{Off topic|date=July 2019|Iowa Hawkeyes}} or {{criticism section|date=July 2019}}
    • Unless there's a good reason, the years in the controversy section shouldn't be in bold style. Similarly with the italics for Board of Regents.
    • Reaching out to 60 of Griesbaum's former players [...] Twenty-four agreed to speak Since those figures might be compared, they should both be stated with numerals or both stated with words. Because one begins a sentence, I feel words would be preferable.
    • "While women's teams earned 27 Big Ten titles during Grant's 27-year tenure, they have earned only four in the 10 years since Barta took over – three out of the four from the field hockey team under Tracey Griesbaum." There's no indication of whose quote this is and no citation. Tag it with {{cite quotation}}.

I'd appreciate if you could address these points and maybe review your other copy edits. Remember, it's all about the details! Thanks. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:21, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

@Reidgreg: Thanks a ton for the feedback. I will review my articles soon and update them. Csgir (talk) 05:25, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

July GOCE Drive Article Check

Hello:

Thank you for all of your copy edits on articles in the July Blitz. As part of the drive process, GOCE members review copy edited articles to make sure there are no issues and to offer suggestions where they may be helpful.

I reviewed two articles-Singer-Swapp Standoff and Kunle Remi and wanted to point out a few very minor issues I found.

Singer-Swapp Standoff

Numbers below ten are normally written in words: ...the next nine years rather than the next 9 years
Time format - it is a good idea to use a non-breaking space between the 3:00 and a.m. - this insures the time will read 3:00 a.m. and there will be no break between the two elements on screen - use these characters between 3:00 and a.m.
Wiki Links - I link the first instance of a newspaper/journal mention in a citation - The New York Times in citation 12
Alt Captions for the visually impaired. This is something I discovered recently and have begun doing. You can read the details here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Accessibility/Alternative_text_for_images I added one for the map. |Alt= Map showing the location of the standoff |
Make sure the date formats within the text are consistent - I changed January 25 to 25 January to match the rest of the dates in the article. I also added a date tag to the top of the text that appears in edit mode to remind future editors to use the dmy format. In this article all the dates in the citations use the ymd format which is fine.
Polygamist did not need a capital
I converted this WP link Manti, Utah to Manti, Utah which is neater and provides the complete location.
Titles of magazines should be in italics - Sunstone Magazine.
It only took a second so I added a title missing in a citation but this is up to the individual editor.

Kunle Remi

If you check the article's edit history page you can see what I changed. Again these were minor - fonts and duplicate WP links.

I hope this is useful. Do let me know if you have any questions. I'll try to help if I can.

Once again, thank you for all your hard work on these articles. It is greatly appreciated.

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
Thank you for the article about Anshula Kant. We are discussing whether we can get a free to use pic of her. Sad that we have no pic, but brilliant! that we have an article. Also noticed that you created a section for Women in Red.... hope to see many more. If you tweet them with @wikiwomeninred then we will RT them. Thanks again Victuallers (talk) 15:37, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
@Victuallers: Thank you for the barnstar! I hope to contribute many more articles to the WiR project. I had a query - how is an image sourced? I usually rely on Flickr.com search. I understand copyrights but I see so many articles on movies, and they all have pictures. How do the creators source them? For example, I created Anuj Sharma (IPS) and another editor added an image of the police commissioner, citing it as their own work. It is hard to believe that a random person would be allowed to click the commissioners photo. Csgir (talk) 05:21, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello, Csgir,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Onel5969 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Christopher Sena, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click Publish Changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Onel5969}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Rollback granted

Hi Csgir. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 04:08, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
