Fair use rationale for Image:SevendustGroup.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SevendustGroup.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Sevendust biography[edit]

I know you are interested in improving the Sevendust page. However, you can not blatantly copy word-for-word the biography on this Sing365 page. Yes, that biography has some good facts in it, but you can't copy and paste the entire thing. Feel free to add some of those interesting facts (in your own words, of course) to the current bio/history we have for the band, and don't forget to cite the webpage from where you get the info. Info about citations is available at WP:Cite. I don't have all the answers on how to explain the details of Wikipedia's copyright rules, but I know you can't do what you are doing. If needed, I'll find someone who does know so they can explain it for you. Thanks. --Mtjaws (talk) 07:03, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By design, anything you add, can, and will, be edited by others. That is how things get better. You said you want to add "your" biography here. Did you actually write that bio that has been copied (and reverted)? Another thing to consider is the length of what you add. The current bio is fairly short and still has the important career highlights. Look at similar articles and see how those are setup. Other facts can certainly be added here, but make sure they are the ones that people would be interested in reading about. Don't make it a monotonous rundown of events because that can already be read at that other biography anyway. And finally, don't forget to sign your posts on any Talk page. Read that page to learn how. It's quite simple. --Mtjaws (talk) 21:42, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
