Edinburgh sub

I have just added some remarks to the Edinburgh Sub Railway talk page. On re-reading what I wrote, and what you did in May, I realise that I didn't acknowledge that what you did improved matters (although I think there is more to do!) My remarks may come over as disrespectful to what you did, which I didn't intend, sorry. It's just that there are a lot of well-meaning people out there interested in railways and the railway articles in Wikipedia don't always serve them well.

This logo is PD-ineligible, isn't it?
If you thought Commons didn't allow trademarked images, it does.
It should at least be tagged with {{Trademarked}} and SVG'd.

Thanks for drawing my attention to this. I am well aware that some logos may be uploaded to Commons - and I am also familiar with the guidelines on trademarks. I wonder if this particular case may fall foul of the Threshold of originality, but as I am no expert on this kind of thing, I am happy to leave that to your judgement. Your edit confused me as you had added {{Wrong-license}} and {{PD-ineligible}} tags when no public domain claim had been made in the first place, and the original {{Non-free logo}} tag seemed entirely appropriate to me. Your proposal to move this to Commons, which is a free media resource, seemed to me to be an inappropriate move. For these reasons I reverted your edit. However, I see you have since reverted my reversion, removed the Fair Use Rationale, and pressed ahead and moved the image to Commons anyway. I am quite happy for you to do this and to convert it to SVG as you also propose; my only real concern is that another editor may then challenge the copyright status, enforce a Speedy Delete and then we would be left with nothing. Well, what are you supposed to do with logos tagged with {{Non-free logo}} that should be {{PD-textlogo}}? Tag them with Move to Commons}} and replace {{Non-free logo}} with {{PD-textlogo}}? There are two problems with this:

The image would eventually get moved to Commons and end up as a speedy delete.
I can't stand {{Move to Commons}} and just move the pic to Commons myself.

In either case, the nominator must not know about the TOO (and as an admin, they should). Anyway, it pisses me off seeing PD-textlogo logos tagged as non-free logos. That's basically copyfraud, but instead of claiming the work as your own, it involves claiming it as someone else's own. Are there any non-WP/WC cases of this? I don't really know what you're trying to say here. The image in question is a logo of a website, not my own work. It was quite correctly tagged as {{Non-free logo}}. At no point was it tagged with {{PD-textlogo}} until you added it. This is not an own work, this is (or rather was) the logo of a website and organisation. The image was added to Wikipedia as a good faith contribution, and while you are free to discuss or change the tagging, I am concerned by your suggestion that this image was added with fraudulent intent.
