Merchanter's Luck[edit]

Great news! Looks like a good start, too. Depending on how long you think your summaries of the individual books will be, you might want to keep your summaries on the main The Merchanter novels page. If you think your article on each book will be fairly substantial, leave as-is and keep going with the separate page. If the article on the individual book is only going to be a few paragraphs, however, you might consider keeping these as sections of the main article rather than breaking them out. Barnacle Bill[edit]

Hello Clarityfiend. Excellent work on "Barnacle Bill", a fondly remembered film from my childhood (spent in Ealing not three hundred yards from the studios). But please, it's an Ealing Film, made in England. Unless you can show that it was released in the USA before the home market - which I doubt - it should be listed as "Barnacle Bill", released in the USA as "All at Sea" and not the other way around. Boys' Night Out[edit]

Clarityfiend, in the case of "Boys' Night Out," it was proper to say the film "stars James Garner" and "was directed by Michael Gordon" rather than "starred" and "was directed." While Gordon directed the movie in the past, Garner continues to star in it whenever someone pops in a DVD. I'm going to go back and collapse the sentences and eliminate the "It," though, anyway.

Not A Matter of Life and Death yet...[edit]

Before we get into an edit war, can we discuss the ending? Both SteveCrook and I prefer the other version. IMO, the quotation is rather clumsy and not particularly memorable.

Disagree. The message in the film was straight-forward. And I always considered the declaration by Dr. Reeves the most potent line of dialouge in the entire film. It was the message and whole point of his case and the film's conclusion. I consider the other line ending the summary is (as you put it) "rather clumsy and not particularly memorable." Hi,
With due respect, I think you are wrong about Mouche having fallen in love with Bramble. Quite the contrary, she was going to denounce him but ‘patriotism’ got the better of her when she discovered that Schwegler had deceived her. Have another look at the ending, you'll see what I mean – and enjoy the film again!
(BTW, did you really get the impression that Bramble was ‘devastated’ by Mouche’s death? I didn’t.) :)
I leave it to you to make whatever corrections you think are in order.

Bombastic Blimp[edit]

Bombastic? Conolel Blimp? Surely not :) The animal heads on the wall are much discussed, whenever anyone mentions the film they seem to be discussed. But that's often because people nowadays are shocked by the idea of shooting animals and then putting their heads on the wall. I think it's that more than the way it's used as a device to show the passing of time that is why so many people mention it. Hi, I've made an assortment of changes to C. - mostly referencing, plus some beefing up of the reception and criticism sections. A franc for your thoughts if you have time to cast an eye over them. :) Seems to me we might even fit Sam's piano into the reception section, as an indication of enduring popularity (whether enduring popularity is strictly 'reception' is another question, but it's hard to split into two sections). There's actually very little wrong with it. The addition of the tag may have been a tad over zealous. you made a major edit removing a section on irony things regarding the Casablanca movie. I think you were right. This irony stuff wasn't really relaevant for the movie. However, you seem to have forgotten to sign your large contribution on the discussion page of the Casablanca movie. I believe it was just only a mistake. I added the link to your user page. To be honest, I could take either side of the argument (include them or exclude them). On balance, I think they're useful in showing the relationship between the Scribner's juveniles, which are often discussed as a group. And they do no harm -- the twelve individual articles don't imply that the books form a traditional series. In any event, I announced the change on Talk:Robert A. Heinlein, and the only comment was favorable, so it didn't seem to be a controversial change. Hitchcock Cameos[edit]

Hi, Not intending to be argumentative but Hitchcock said that he was in all of his films. He was in crowd scenes in the first several. These were not really cameos. At the time it was a cheap "and effective way to fill the screen when extra bodies were needed. Anyone available on the set might be used as an extra. It became an actual "gimmick later on. Can I steal your line about giving theoratical answers ?
