- The rules to which you refer: Links to potentially revenue-generating web pages are not prohibited, even though the website owner might earn money through advertisements, sales, or (in the case of non-profit organizations) donations.

- External link policy also precludes "Links mainly intended to promote a website, including online petitions" - you are not linking to your personal website, you are linking to a website soliciting donations for your political campaign.
- Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy should also be followed, specifically the section "Writing about yourself and your work" ("If you have a personal connection to a topic or person, you are advised to refrain from editing those articles directly, from adding related advertising links, links to personal websites and similar"). Vendettas[edit]
Not sure what you mean by accusing me of "hunting and erasing articles about South African politics. Your vendetta is not very wiki" (the SA stuff on my talk page is just a PR person disagreeing over a single article about a young, white South African ex-pat artist), but one of Wikipedia's core guidelines is to assume good faith of other editors. I'm assuming you're trying to improve a wiki page and am just explaining how that clashes with a couple of fundamental policies; I'd appreciate it if you took that at face value rather than suggesting I might have some ulterior motive. --McGeddon (talk) 13:48, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
I have what appears to be a unique ability. I can write using the English language. "That" is not a noun. A good reason for using "that" correctly is that we can't understand things about which we aren't informed. We can't be informed unless we can understand the language in which information is written. I still don't know what I'm "(taking) at face value" or why you think that writing with a North London accent makes errors excusable.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Kennesaw State University. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. - First of all, you are probably not anyone named "McGeddon."
- Secondly, the ideals, which seem to include not promoting things, are not in the wikipedia rules. I'm not doing anything other than informing the public using Wikipedia, honestly, and openly. You are hiding behind ideals, a false identity, and are not following the rules that you claim to cite.

- The very first line of WP:COI: "Do not edit Wikipedia in your own interests or in the interests of your external relationships."
- The little summary at the top of the linked WP:SPAM guideline: "Spam is the inappropriate addition of links or information to Wikipedia with the purpose of promoting an outside organization, individual or idea."
- By openly promoting your own political campaign at Wikipedia, you are breaking both of these guidelines. If you would like to "somehow complain" about me or discuss these concerns more widely, asking a random uninvolved editor for their opinion is probably the most effective first step: take a look at WP:THIRDOPINION. --McGeddon (talk) 08:51, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Carl. I saw your message at Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous) and wanted to respond here, since the pump isn't the place for your question. First off, I wanted to let you know that I've reviewed the situation and he was correct to remove the information from the Kennesaw State University article. Your first addition to the article added a non-notable entry to the alumni list. McGeddon correctly linked you to the WP:COI and WP:PROMO guidelines. While you may not have intended to do it, you were trying to promote yourself. We use reliable sources to reference articles, but you don't have an article, so including an external link in that context is spam.
The second thing I wanted to bring up to you is your behavior. This message to McGeddon has an overly condesending tone to it and is unacceptable. Please refrain from making those kind of comments in the future. If you have any questions, please let me know. Ishdarian 14:47, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

From what I can see, all your edits on Wikipedia so far have one goal in mind - to promote yourself. If that's all you're here for, then please go somewhere else. If, however, you'd like to actually work on encyclopedia articles which have no connection to you, you're more than welcome to stay and pitch in. P.S.
