This might be up your alley[edit]

This one might interest you - 卞英花. I don't know where the article creator got his information, but her Korean name is definitely not 아리랑 (Arirang). It's 번영화 and she sings Arirang.[1] Let me know if you want help with it or if you don't have time to get to it to prevent it from getting deleted (assuming she really is notable). Pass name?[edit]

Are you sure that "pass name" [2] is really the English word for Tsūmei/Tongmyun and not some literal translation? --222.3.78.58 (talk) 02:33, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"通名" is "一般に通じる名称 (a name that can be commonly recognized)," and synonymous with such words as "通り名" and "通称" according to Japanese dictionaries. "通称" is translated to "a popular name; an alias" according to English-Japanese dictionary. The use of 通名 isn't limited to Koreans or people who use aliases to avoid discrimination. "通名" is a regular word and 通名, or an alias, could be used by anybody. Although the kanji "通" has the meaning of passing, when used in phrases like these, it rather means transmission of some information like in "通信" (communication). --222.3.78.58 (talk) 04:04, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Creating an article.[edit]

Greetings,

I'm a frequent visitor of this site, but its my first time editting and creating an article. I would like to create an article about the Malaysian Students Association in Republic of Korea. I'm not trying to promote our association, just wanting people out there to realise the existance of our association. I tried editting Malaysians in South Korea, but I guess I did it wrongly and got a message from you. So, my question is, can I create an article about our association? The main reason of me wanting to create this article is to allow people in South Korea to know that such association exist and allows people who needs help or assistance from our association to guide them anything about Malaysia or Malaysians in Republic of Korea. Thank you for your assistance in advance.Bacardisaphire (talk) 06:05, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Massive blanking at Hangul and Hanja[edit]

It appears that an editor using three separate redlinked accounts (User:Inincognito, User:PatentLies, and User:Aneconomist) is persisting in massive blanking at Hangul and Hanja. We have a problem. Can you help? Badagnani (talk) 04:45, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[Koryo-saram?] about "keeping the columns from being so wide?"[edit]

Dear CaliforniaAliBaba,

Greeting. I just received your message from "User_talk:140.112.115.2." Thus, I would like to confirm whether you mean the right-hand-side table of "Koryo-saram#Personal_and_family_names." Any reply is appreciated.

Sincerely,

140.112.115.2, 09:42 UTC 11 Jan 2008.

P.S. Maybe I should re-edit the northern Haguls into footnotes.

Your edits to Liuli Gongfang[edit]

The Barnstar of Recovery
I hate supporting the deletion of otherwise decent articles that probably just need a little work. Your edits to Liuli Gongfang were awesome, and I think you deserve a barnstar (whether or not the article gets kept, which I think it will now). Keep up the awesomeness. -FrankTobia (talk) 18:57, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to say thanks for your work on the AfD for Phoebe Hurst Elementary School. It made me laugh out loud to see the items you found; I just kept imagining the horror of the PTA member who wanted a rosy-cheeked view of her precious school when it turns out that the only verifiable references are very uncomplimentary. I was almost sufficiently impressed to withdraw my nomination and let the school's shame stand forever -- almost, but not quite, since I just can't accept that an elementary school is notable except in the most extraordinary of circumstances. But thanks for your great contribution to the discussion. Accounting4Taste:talk 01:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
