Primary sources, with particular reference to the original enrolments.[edit]

Hello Brixtonhill. Thanks very much for your contributions to articles on medieval and early-modern historical personages, as this is a very under-represented genre. I realise too that it may sometimes seem difficult to find reliable sources about people who lived so long ago, but an issue has raised itself I'm afraid. For which to resolve, you should read WP:PTS: Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published secondary sources and, to a lesser extent, on tertiary sources and primary sources. Secondary or tertiary sources are needed to establish the topic's notability and to avoid novel interpretations of primary sources. All analyses and interpretive or synthetic claims about primary sources must be referenced to a secondary or tertiary source, and must not be an original analysis of the primary-source material by Wikipedia editors.
If your topic is notable it will have been written on by (preferably modern) historians. There is absolutely no need to use Duchy of Lancaster, exchequer, chancery rolls (let alone the Northampton R.O.!) as you have in Henry Gage (16th-century landowner). Most of your articles do not suffer from this issue, it seems mainly to only be an issue where you are writing in this vein. Again, see Sir Nicholas de Loveyne- far too heavy a weighting is given to the printed primary rolls and CIPMs. William Gage, less so. But still too pre-eminent. Pieces such as Holy Trinity Church, Tulse Hill, much better. Primary sources should reiterate what secondary sources already say, not reference multiple assertions: please see WP:NOTRS.
Just one more thing- when you remove the 'primary source' tag from an article (e.g. [1]), it should be because you have removed the primary sources or backed them with secondaries- just adding a few more of the latter does not 'outweigh' the primaries already contained.
