National Emergency Library[edit]

I am working on Honda Sports Award, as well as all the bios of athletes who won an award (approximately 305 articles). I am making sure the article mentions the award, and I want to back up each article with two references - one associated with the organization issuing the award, and another, independent source, mentioning the award.

Not surprisingly, I am using search engines and finding many of the necessary sources, but I have six examples so far where I have failed to find a source. I thought I would check the National Emergency Library, because many of the sources seem to be books which might not show up in a search engine search.

As an example, Evelyn Ashford won the award, known as the Broderick Award, in 1977. I found I could put Evelyn Ashford in quotes to find many sources mentioning her, but when I searched for "Evelyn Ashford" Broderick, it searched for Evelyn Ashford OR Broderick, not both. Conceptually, I want "Evelyn Ashford" AND Broderick. I tried using that exact phrase, hoping that it might treat "AND" as a logical operator, but it doesn't appear to do so.

I looked at the advanced options, and intriguingly see AND as separator between different field types, but I think I want two instances of "any field" separated by "AND".

I won't be surprised if it is possible to do what I want, but I don't see how to do it.

A second issue occurs when I do find a source. I didn't see the ISBN in the document summary. I can see it in the scan, but I would have to type it all out to get it. Possible, but tedious when doing several. I ended up looking up the book in Amazon, where I could scrape the ISBN (If not obvious, I want the ISBN because it is easy to construct a reference using the ISBN. I would have been happier if the ISBN was shown on the summary page which documents the pub date, author etc.--S Philbrick (Talk) 02:10, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
