Hello

February 2022[edit]

Hello, BragmArcus, and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Thank you for your contributions to this free encyclopedia. If you decide that you need help, check out Getting Help below, ask at the help desk, or place {{Help me}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking or by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. Also, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field. Below are some useful links to help you get started. Happy editing! Tiderolls 16:38, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information[edit]

You probably should acquaint yourself with Wikipedia's manual of style before continuing to edit. Linking a word several times in an article is something that is discouraged. Also, linking commonly understood terms is discouraged. If you have any questions about editing, you can make inquiries at Wikipedia:Teahouse. Tiderolls 16:38, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Your continuing editing against consensus is concerning as is your lack of communication. At some point your persisting in this behavior will become disruptive and could jeopardize your editing privilege. Please stop and ask for help if you are unclear on any points. Asking for clarification[edit]

I don't know where I broke the laws of the "Manual of Style".

Could you please clarify what I did wrong???

Update 21-2-2022[edit]

I've looked at the Manual of Style and set right what was once wrong.

  • Thanks for your attention to this matter. Tiderolls 13:10, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you read the guideline linked in the title of this section, you will find that article talk pages are to be used for article improvement. They are not to be used as forums for general discussion of the article subject. Tiderolls 13:55, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know that[edit]

I'm trying to communicate more. Since I change the things I want to see changed, It's not in my nature to ask for edits. Can the talk page stick around, or should I remove the page altogether? BragmArcus (talk) 09:10, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My personal opinion is that it's best you remove it. Only because that's not the purpose of the page. It doesn't really hurt anything unless it becomes a habit. That's why I didn't revert you. Someone may come along and revert you and may even come here to discuss it. If so, just explain you didn't know and are attempting to learn the policies and guidelines. You don't have to ask permission to add or change content. Just realize that there are established procedures and conventions that need to be followed. Sometimes it's better to ask more experienced editors before plowing ahead. There are some rules that have very little wiggle room and must be followed. Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:No personal attacks are policies that cause you major problems. If you read those pages, you will understand why. As always, I'll answer your questions the best I can. Tiderolls 13:06, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for responding! I'm going to soon remove the page, but why are Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:No personal attacks causing me major problems? I understand if I need to watch out for those (and I will) but have I infringed them? Did I edit a biography? Did I link to anything beside wikipedia pages and other user-generated content websites (TVTropes)? Was I ever rude towards somebody? If not, why should I worry instead of being wary? BragmArcus (talk) 14:29, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the confusion. You have not violated those policies. I mention them because they are strictly enforced as they have real world consequences. Tiderolls 14:46, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your clear and concise response! BragmArcus (talk) 14:51, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
