Hi[edit]

Got your note on my talk page. I'll go through all the various issues here with you just as soon as I can but, please, do not revert any of my edits until we have talked it through. There are some typical "newbie" mistakes in your article & I can help you to fix them ... but I suspect that we are in different time zones + I have other things to do also. For now, just have a read through some of the stuff linked to in the above Welcome message. I'll get round to explaining things before today is done, I promise. - Sitush (talk) 16:48, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Let's take this step by step, as I am working in real life at the moment.
Here is an absolutely fundamental statement: all content added to Wikipedia must be verifiable using reliable sources. It is particularly important when the article is about a living person and there is even a specific policy for this - see biographies of living people (BLP).
If you read through your article then you will notice then nothing has a citation that enables people to verify the statements made until we get to the Kumari Arivial Perival bit, which is pretty much at the end of the thing. In other words, we have a BLP with a lot of information that is not easily verifiable for the majority of people. Although in theory we do not have to verify everything (only be sure that is can be verified), the rules are pretty tough when it comes to BLPs. All that information prior to the Kumari Arivial Perival bit needs some sort of source(s) provided for it, or it needs to be removed.
An added complication is the "reliable sources" bit. For example, blogs are not usually reliable sources unless they are clearly reputable (eg: a blog operated by a major newspaper). In the bits that you have sourced, some of the sources appear to be blogs. Still more awkward in the case of this subject is that some of the sources are not in English. There is nothing wrong with using non-English sources but they will need to be translated - the WP:NONENG article gives some guidance about this.
Got to dash - feel free to leave any comments/queries below & I'll pop back over later. - Sitush (talk) 17:14, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Hi Sitush. Thanks for your reply and suggestion. This is a article about a person who is from India state Tamil Nadu. He is known for his social activities. His social activities started with developing his born village by arranging basic needs like basic education, Road, Electricity, , etc. He formed Anti drug Addiction movement to abolish the usage of drugs. Latter through Kumari Arivial Peravai (in English Kumari (means kanyakumari) Science Forum) he reached to many village school students. Their he organized many motivational and science program to village students. His idea of young scientist program made school students of kanyakumari to think about the major global issues like Global warming, climatic change, solid waste management etc. Also he has contribution in Tamil Literature, Stage Drama Script writing.

Since he belongs from small village of Tamil Nadu state so his works were published only in leading Tamil newspapers. Facilities of Tamil Newspapers in internet were started couple of years before. so initial days data were not in internet. But I have the paper cutting of initial days work of him. If required I can sent you some of them for your reference. But all of them are in Tamil Language. So I explain about his contribution to kanyakumari district also this are the datas which are available with me. Now you give me a suggestion how to improve this article. But my request will be don't delete this because the data which i provided is through of my knowledge. This is the way we can appreciate once work. Now your turn...waiting for your reply...tell me what time you will be online so we can discuss and improve this article and finish the job. --Bose0123 (talk) 14:48, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is timeless. There is no need for us both to be online at the same moment and, in fact, I am in a peculiar position at the moment for health reasons & cannot easily predict when I am around and when I am not.
There is no requirement for cited sources to be available online, although obviously a lot of people find it easier when they are available in that way. However, you have not addressed the primary issue, which is that a lot of the article at present appears not to be verifiable to multiple, independent reliable sources. If that cannot be done then it really does not matter whether it is "true" or not and whether it is well-known locally or not - the statements will have to be removed. Wikipedia is not about "truth", unfortunately, but about "verifiability". I do realise that this may seem odd but those are the rules, sorry. Is there nothing out there for all of the non-science content which, after all, forms the bulk of the article?
Similarly, there is nothing wrong with Tamil language sources but the relevant bits do need translating. We have policies and guidelines for a reason. Of course, there is also a Tamil Wikipedia and there would be no need for translation if the content were in that project rather than the English one. I know someone who works on that project and will ask them to look in here. Fresh eyes may assist. - Sitush (talk) 20:54, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Bose, i am from TN and i edit both the english and Tamil wikipedias. I have heard of Kumari Ariviyal peravai and a tamil search returns a lot of newspaper articles. From a cursory look it seems Mullanchery M Velaian meets our notability standards. But per our requirements the content in the article needs to be sourced to reliable sources like newspaper articles, interviews etc. Please upload the scans/digital copies of the older newsclippings somewhere in the net and i will work from them to source and copyedit the articles.--Sodabottle (talk) 21:09, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
