Pirates

The MLB site used at-bats, which I didn't think was a good indicator of who the top performers were. I'd have no problem with Avg - it would provide consistency across batters and pitchers. Grsz 11 18:49, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't know if you follow hockey, but if not, you should still check out the Penguin's game tonight on FSN. They can win their division for the first time since '98. Grsz 11 21:13, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

On hockey nights, I do hockey. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to keep up with baseball. I think you meant you would update baseball, which is perfectly fine with me. I work during the weeknights and really don't have much else to do but browse here. Grsz 11 21:19, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Ya, I prefer that too. Like when I do Penguins games, I pretty much do it like a blog, and add it as it happens. Where do you go to school by the way? Grsz 11 21:28, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

IUP, though I went to Pitt for a semester. As much as I love Pittsburgh, I'm hitting the road once I graduate. Grsz 11 21:33, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Scorekeeping

Thanks for the comment. I tried to get a consensus on my revision probably 12 to 18 months ago when I first did it, but there didn't seem to be much interest. Either way, the current article is not terribly good and could use major improvements. So if you know any other editors who might be willing to look it over. I didn't want to just completely replace the current one without having some people back me up.

I too have scored every game I've been to (550-some of them now), and it's much more fun in the minor leagues where they don't have SABR-metric scoreboards to tell you every little possible thing about every pitch.

Let me know what you think, and/or what parts could be improved. -- dakern74 (talk) 21:04, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

P.S. My mom grew up in Indiana (on Poplar Ave) and graduated from IUP herself.  :)

PNC Park

I will take a look at the article, but it probably won't be until this weekend. If you don't hear anything from me by Sunday, please drop me a reminder. In the meantime, your use of Image:2006 MLB All-Star Game.png will require a fair use rationale like the one already there for its use on the page 2006 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. See WP:NFC for more information. – Scartol • Tok 00:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree four games isn't that noteworthy, but it now seems to be a yearly occasion to have one game of the "City Game" series between Pitt and Duquesne played there (and college games being played at pro stadiums is a rarity...I think Georgia Tech and Georgia may be the only other one being played at Turner Field), so annually hosting the City Game might be worth throwing in there. I pretty sure PNC has not hosted any other college baseball games. I'm not sure about high school games off the top of my head, but if it did it would probably be WPIAL championships like the football ones at Heinz Field at the end of the high school season. You should be able to find any articles about that if they exist in the on-line archives of the Post-Gazette or Trib Review. The WPIAL championships are certainly noteworthy to put into the Heinz Field article. CrazyPaco (talk) 00:12, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I've taken a look and given it a polish with the copyediting cloth. Comments are on the talk page. Please let me know if you have any questions. Good luck with the article! – Scartol • Tok 15:49, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, those edits look good, and I understand that it may be hard to find info about the bidding process and economic impact online. (Maybe someone who lives in the area can scour the local newspaper archives in the future.) Good luck with the GA review! – Scartol • Tok 20:16, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Steelers Wikiproject

Hey, I need to apologize for not being active in the Steelers Wiki project. It has been pretty crazy in one of the projects I'm, to admins have left wiki and countless others have to, so I'm sorry talk to you soon :) SexySeaSquid 01:28, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

O.K, I would really like to help on the Steelers next season page adding stats that kinda stuff. Hey would you like me to create you a custom signature? it kould be Steeler colors lol. SexySeaSquid 23:59, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I know how to create one, do you want me to make you one? SexySeaSquid 17:33, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Is this what you had in mind Blackngold29 ? If not let me know what you don't like and I'll fix it. SexySeaSquid 18:08, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Done, O.K what you do know is 1)Go to "My preferences" at the top of the page. 2)Go to where it says Raw signature (with the blank space) 3)Type (copy) this into it Blackngold29 4)Save it. 5)Then it should work. SexySeaSquid 18:27, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Copyedit

I really don't know man, we need to get somebody who really knows what they're doing to help us out. It'd be cool if we could get a good writer to copyedit it. No idea how though rofl. REZTER TALK ø 03:09, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Sweet, do that. REZTER TALK ø 11:34, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot articles

I'm afraid I'm just too busy right now to take on more reviews or copyedits. Alas, I don't really know anyone on the project who would be good choices to approach about such a thing. I have worked with Moni3 and Yllosubmarine recently, and I know them to be conscientious and dedicated (and usually busy). You might give them a ring. Good luck! – Scartol • Tok 19:38, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Tool for improving articles

If you add - importScript('User:AndyZ/peerreviewer.js'); //User:AndyZ/peerreviewer.js - to User:Blackngold29/monobook.js, another button will appear on the top toolbar when you're in edit mode. If you click "peer review" it will give you suggestions on improving the article. It only works in the main space, so if you wanted to improve the Steelers article, you would have to be working on the actual page, and not in a sandbox. Hope this helps. Grsz11 00:22, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot album PR

I've looked over the article, but haven't posted any comments yet. I've been having major problems over the last 3 days regarding viruses, spyware, malware, and any other -ware you can think of! I'm going to dump the harddrive and reinstall windows tomorrow, so I'll be able to take a closer look around 6pm Pacific time. Regards, -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 05:56, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

I've tried to locate the peer review page at WP:PR, but there isn't one. Do you want me to just leave comments on the article's talk page and do a copyedit as I go through it? -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 01:20, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Finished. It's not a bad article, but I think the right decision was made to not make it a Good article. There were too many sections that bounced around all over the place, and some sections need de-listifying and turned into prose. It's not far off passing, though. -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 03:59, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. I'll take a look at the band page probably on Tuesday. I'm gonna be busy all day tomorrow, and I've done 3 PRs this evening already. There's no rush is there? -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 04:20, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot (band) edit

I've started working on this in my sandbox...I would not feel offended if you or anyone else wanted to dig into it with me! Feel free to respond on my sandbox's discussion page, if you'd like.SkyllaLaFey (talk) 19:10, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

PNC Park

I looked over the article as you requested. I only found one minor error. Good luck with getting GA status. BecauseWhy? (talk) 02:17, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Proofreading

I'll do so now, if you want to take a break so I don't edit conflict. Grsztalk 05:06, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Draft

A running back? Grsztalk 21:47, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

He was only good this past season. If they weren't going for a lineman, I would have preferred a WR, seeing as we've had some problems with ours. Grsztalk 21:57, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

I was hoping for Jeff Otah. Saw him every game last season...a bull. Grsztalk 22:03, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Looks like Baltimore is gonna give us a run. Joe Flacco and Ray Rice. Grsztalk 16:45, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

A trade?! Grsztalk 17:00, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I really want Owen Schmitt. Grsztalk 17:13, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot

Dude we need to finish up Iowa (album) I think... then we can maybe put that up for peer review and then put Slipknot (album) up for GA again. We only need to write a Lyrical themes section and rewrite the intro paragraph in Iowa anyway. We need to get some soruces for that though... hey if you get the time could you try find some and put them in my sandbox [here], that would be cool... I'd be happy to write the paragraph I just don't have any time whatsoever to go looking for sources. REZTER TALK ø 11:00, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Steelers Page

Blackngold-

Let's talk about what you want to do with the Steelers page. I'm sorry that I haven't been in touch sooner. When you contacted me, I was in the final week before exams.

Fruminous (talk) 23:11, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for posting on the "originally" deal. I happen to think the use of originally is in error and implies that a player has played for more than one team. However, just as important is that the Wiki rules are kept and that a couple of users don't dictate policy over others who disagree. I think that the WP:Consensus is a good thing, but it seems some users do not think the rules apply to them. If we can all be bullied and intimidated by people like that then Wiki becomes less fun and the articles suffer. So thanks for your input.72.0.36.36 (talk) 04:12, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm...

I looked at the edits of 204.69.4.81 (talk · contribs) to David McCullough...I see a series of accounts and IPs that appear to be targeting that article and Garrison Keillor-related stuff...

Observations: Reoccuring abuse of David McCullough, Garrison Keillor (and related ie. Guy Noir, A Prarie Home Companion), Lost (TV series) (specifically Music on LOST), and The Sopranos.

IPs seems to have a relationship to UC Riverside area computer system...

Short list so far:

  • Argyle2006 (talk · contribs) - 25 edits (May '06 - May '08) Most are POV, unsourced, or vandalism. Pattern of adding the name "Michael Thomas Shanahan" to various articles.
  • Polonius79 (talk · contribs) - 5 edits (March - Apr '08) Four are vandalsim, some with false sources.
  • Tramstra (talk · contribs) - 7 edits (May - Apr '08) All vandalim directed toward Keillor or McCullough.
  • Pericles626 (talk · contribs) - more of the same
  • Merryhell (talk · contribs) - single unsourced edit to Garrison Keillor surrounded by edits of vandalism (or reversions), and later "expanded upon by Tramstra
  • 204.69.4.82 (talk · contribs) - 115 edits (Oct '07 - Apr '08) Most are vandalism toward Keillor or McCullough.
  • 138.23.77.83 (talk · contribs) - 30 edits (Mar '07 - May '08) Some are vandalism toward Keillor or McCullough. Others are undoing the removal of vandalim about LOST.
  • 138.23.89.187 (talk · contribs) - 625 edits Some are vandalism toward Keillor or McCullough. Most are negative, unsourced POV toward Bank of America.
  • 138.23.77.78 (talk · contribs) - 10 edits (Oct '06 - Apr '08) Some are vandalism toward Keillor or McCullough. Also includes vandalism toward LOST.
  • 207.233.7.121 (talk · contribs) - 42 edits (Sept '03 - Apr '08) Some are vandalism toward Keillor, LOST, or The Sopranos
  • 138.23.77.58 (talk · contribs) - 54 edits Most are vandalism toward The Sopranos, LOST, McCullough, and Keillor
  • 75.62.137.29 (talk · contribs) - 2 edits, two vandalsims of McCullough's talk page.
  • 71.105.18.146 (talk · contribs) - 3 edits, all vandalsim, one to McCullough

Do you know who this is? I've got to sign off, but I'd be willing to help you put together a checkuser... — Scientizzle 04:51, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm crazy busy the next two days, so the checkuser will probably need to wait a little bit...what I think would be best for you to do is to find other accounts and IPs that have similar editing patterns to the ones above. (I gathered these with about 5 minutes of contributions and page history snooping--first noticing that 204.69.4.81 & Argyle2006 added the same thing to David McCullough.) If you can find more, list them here. If you can determine who might be the "master account", that would be useful, too. — Scientizzle 14:19, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

RFCU filed

If you come across anything else of import, add it to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Argyle2006. Cheers, — Scientizzle 22:48, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

I think it's just a coincidence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tramstra (talkcontribs) 19:57, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Baseball Game Logs

I have noticed that there has been some discussion as to how to handle the baseball game logs, with the consensus of leaving them in the article about the team's season. I am willing to help make sure that the game logs are moved back to the article, so that it is easier to make sure they are updated. Please let me know if this is advised, because I try to make sure the game logs are kept up-to-date, but the templates significantly hinder my ability to do so. --Willy No1lakersfan (Talk - Contribs) 14:25, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I have moved the rest of the game logs to the main pages, so now all the articles are done the same way. I hope that we can keep it this way until the end of the season, so that this does not cause problems again. --Willy No1lakersfan (Talk - Contribs) 21:53, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

There are certain pages (Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves, for example) where my edit was reverted and the template was replaced. I feel that there is some objection out there to what I did, though nobody has contacted me directly as of yet. What should we do with the articles where my edit was reverted? --Willy No1lakersfan (Talk - Contribs) 22:39, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Thoreau Edit

-- You edited my contribution to the Thoreau article...on what grounds. You had no time to obtain a copy of the book An Underground Education and check the secondary source besides even check that author's primary sources...

Besides, the section is entitled criticism. If I had felt like it, I could have attributed a quote from one of my COLLEGE history professors, Dr. Frank Russell, when he said that Thoreau was a fraud. That would still suffice as criticism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rwh58682 (talkcontribs) 19:13, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Rwh58682 (talk) 19:16, 11 May 2008 (UTC) RWH58682

Hey Steelers fan...

I'm having trouble adding the following reference to the Thoreau page...

Zacks, Richard. An Underground Education, Doubleday Publishing. 1997, p19.

Yes, I know that not just anyone can add their own opinions to a Criticism section...that was an exaggeration. You should check out that book. It's not just some bs conspiracy type book.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rwh58682 (talkcontribs) 19:51, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of PNC Park

The article PNC Park you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:PNC Park for things needed to be addressed. Ice Cold Beer (talk) 20:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

As a user who contributed significantly to the article, this may concern you. I have placed the above article on hold for GA status, there are minor problems that need to be addressed before it is failed or passed. Please see here for more information.--~SRX~ 01:27, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations, Myron Cope has passed its GAN. --SRX 11:31, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

RE:Your question

You will have to go and talk to our new featured lists director User:Scorpion0422, as he was the one that decided to archive the discussion [1]. Personally, I would have let it stay open longer, but you would have to ask Scorpion0422 for specifics and what you should do next. Good luck, « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 05:23, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Asking people to support FLCs

like you did here is not a good idea. It's okay to ask for reviews or comments, but outright saying "I would appreciate it if you could support it" can be seen as vote stacking. So in the future, please try to ask for reviews in a more neutral manner. Thanks, Scorpion0422 23:30, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
