Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

What can I do now?

Request reason:

This has not been created to promote a business. It was created to inform about the historical significance of the Southwell Company. This company and been in business for 150 years and is listed in the national registrar of historic places. The Texas Historical Commission is currently recognizing The Southwell Company as a historically significant business. The Southwell Company has produced all of the Historical Markers for the state of Texas as well as other states.

Decline reason:

I'm afraid that you can't use this username for any purpose. Our policy on user names does not allow names that appear to represent an organisation (or appear to be multiple users like 'BillandFred'). Names like 'Fred at BloggsCo' are allowed, but 'BloggsCo', 'CEO BloggsCo' or 'Marketing at BloggsCo' are not. You can also use names like 'Gertie the Aardvark', 'HJL6589' or 'The Mighty Duke'. I'm not sure why Alexf has hard blocked you when you haven't edited yet. A softer block is more often used in cases of not yet edited. How do I add an entry for the Southwell Company. It is of Historical Significance and NOT for promotion or publicity. What do I need to do to get this entry on wikipedia? Please help.

I've converted your second request into a comment. First get a new name by reading my decline and suggesting a new name in the other template (the 'unblock-spamun' one). Then you can get advice on your proposed article. (Do please read WP:COI too, and if you are being paid to edit either as an employee or as a consultant, you should read WP:TOS as disclosure is required for paid editing. You're still typing your name and the date bit - just type ~~~~ instead. Believe me, it works. OK. Start a draft version at User:Beveritttx/DRAFT. Just click that and save it. Then read WP:CORP about notability for companies, and WP:RS about the reliable independent sources needed to prove the notability. Don't copy any text from outside Wikipedia. Even if you wrote it, it can't be used here. Avoid being promotional in tone. You have to be boringly neutral. Your submission at Articles for creation: The Southwell Company (August 5)[edit]

I believe this is a valid topic, but the draft needs some work. Key points:

You need a clear lead section, don't just begin with the earliest history, give a starting paragraph with the basic who-what-where-when-why: "The Southwell Company is an XYZ company founded in 19XX by So-and-So, best known for ABC", that sort of thing. Then you can get into background, different phases of their history, etc.

Also, your first paragraph has terrible capitalizing, why are you capitalizing every noun? Please use standard grammar, basic school stuff, this isn't a plaque it's an article. Excessive Capitalization Makes It Hard to Read.

Next, I'm getting the feeling that too much of your material is taken very closely from things like blogs, the company's own page, etc. You really don't want to do that, honestly just ignore what they say about themselves (barring *very* basic data like founding, location, etc) and just only take facts about them from news articles, books, etc. You seem to have found some good sources, so please base all your facts on those and cite the facts with footnotes. See WP:REFB for how to make footnotes.

Okay, so to summarize: clear lead section, fix capitalization errors, don't just copy stuff from blogs or user-submitted websites, and instead base your facts on strong professional sources and leave the reader clear footnotes showing which sources back which facts.
