Image tagging for Image:Labocania.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Labocania.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Hi Benosaurus,
I've unfortunately had to delete the image you uploaded, Image:Labocania.PNG. Per the terms of use at Thinkquest.org, the image may be used "for personal use only". Uploading it to a public-accessed encyclopedia appears to violate those terms, so the image has been deleted. Sorry. Best wishes and happy editing, Firsfron of Ronchester 17:35, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's alright. I just thought that people could just get images from Google and put them here. I feel that if the dinosaur articles have pictures in them, people get a much better understanding of the creatures. Benosaurus 17:55, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Environmental Protection Userbox[edit]

Hi Benosaurus,

Thanks for using the userbox that I created (the one about supporting environmental protection). I'm glad that there're people in the world who care about the environment just as much as I do. Please encourage your friends to put up this userbox if they have accounts in Wikipedia. If you have any questions about environmental protection, please don't hesitate to contact me by wiki.

Re: Phobia Userbox[edit]

Hi Benosaurus,
It is a great idea, but there are too many phobias out there that it will take a long period of time to finish all of them. Besides, a lot of phobias are not well-known and many people have no idea what they mean. And some people won't admit that they are scared of certain things. OhanaUnited 03:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your last couple of image uploads[edit]

Hi, but I'm afraid the dinosaur images you uploaded are just going to be deleted, as they lack proper copyright info (unless you've gotten permission from the artist). Just citing the website isn't enough. J. Spencer 04:52, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmm... so what do I have to do to put pictures here? Do I always have to get permission from the artist? Benosaurus 14:50, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, unless: 1) the artist has been dead a certain number of years, so the image falls into public domain; 2) the image was created a certain number of years ago (again public domain); 3) the site already said it could be used; 4) or you yourself are the artist. The image use policy should help to clarify. J. Spencer 15:03, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rajasaurus[edit]

Hi, Benosaurus;

I know this must be getting frustrating, but you are so close this time. Check which copyright tag you're using. Right now it says the image is only for Wikipedia, so it's got an automated tag to delete. I'd go here: Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions and ask them about the specific tag you should use. J. Spencer 15:11, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further reflection, I'd check with Todd to make sure the specific images you selected are all right; familiarize yourself with the copyright tags, and send him a list of those images you'd like to use, with the conditions of the copyright tags. Then he can write back and tell you how he'd like his images to be licensed. I'd suggest looking at tags 1, 10, and 13-15 on this page for ideas Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags/Displayed_and_ranked. J. Spencer 15:59, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I just asked if I could use some of his pictures. I didn't have anything in particular in mind. Benosaurus 16:39, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd start with those you've already uploaded, since obviously you're interested in them. J. Spencer 16:45, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So what you're saying is that I should e-mail Todd Marshall some of the copyright tags? I'm probably going to use more of his pictures, too. Benosaurus 17:06, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd email him with a list of the images you'd like to use, and ask him which method of licensing would be most appropriate. J. Spencer 18:33, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but I may use more images later on than those that I say I will use. Benosaurus 19:04, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can always go back to him later. Just make out a quick list now, and if you change your mind in the future, you change your mind. I wouldn't expect it to be a big deal. As an artist, he'd probably be interested to know which images you want to use, too. J. Spencer 19:11, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about if I just ask what licensing method is good for all his pictures? Couldn't they all have the same copyright tags? Benosaurus 19:15, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You certainly could, but keep in mind that at some point either Todd might say, "oh, no, not that picture," or someone may make trouble by asking if you got permission for each specific image. Bear in mind that I don't have a lot of experience with image licensing myself, so I'm trying to be very careful and spare you more work down the line. It should be all right at this point to just ask him about his preferred licensing, and then go from there. J. Spencer 19:43, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can't I just pick the right copyright tag and move on? This is getting kinda frustrating. Benosaurus 17:16, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you know the right one, then definitely go ahead. Last time, though, you picked one that said it was not suitable (that's a trap, but that's another story). If that tag is indeed the intended one, it's going to be deleted. J. Spencer 22:37, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So which one do you think I should use? Benosaurus 18:08, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure. His website says "Any reproduction without permission of Owner is strictly prohibited", and your description of the email exchange suggests that {{copyrighted}} (from: Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags/Deprecated) is the most appropriate, which unfortunately would be a problem. If it was {{CopyrightedFreeUseProvided}}, {{CopyrightedFreeUse}} (#12), or {{Attribution}}, that would be different, but would he agree to something like those? J. Spencer 01:33, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All right! Now you've got it! J. Spencer 04:59, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
WHOOHOO! Benosaurus 16:48, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ben,

This page seems to have some serious problems in terms of encyclopedic content. The article needs citations, for starters: basic references which back up the sentences you have written. If these cannot be provided, then the article is original research, which is expressly forbidden on Wikipedia. Further, this article really is only a discussion of something which occurred in Jurassic Park III. Whatever citable content there is should probably truthfully be moved over there. Firsfron of Ronchester 04:07, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's based on my general knowledge. You can delete it if you want. Benosaurus 16:47, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good to me. :) Mgiganteus1 18:16, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rhabdodon family[edit]

Checking TaxonSearch, it doesn't look like "Tenontosauridae" has ever been named in the literature, so it doesn't exist. Possibly some original research going on there. Rhabdontontidae was named by Weishampel et al. 2003 and usually includes at least Rhabdodon and Zalmoxes, but I'm not really up on my ornithopod phylogeny so its contents could have changed recently. Dinoguy2 03:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I should just lay off making Rhabdodontidae. Benosaurus 04:01, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
DinoData has Tenontosaurus placed in "Iguanodontidae, not sure how up to date this is, it's usually paraphyletic. i'd notl ist a family. If you can find some decent info on the history of the family and some scientists opinions on its current content, it might be a useful entry (unfortunately I don't have any of that info :) ). Dinoguy2 08:52, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spinosaurus or T-Rex?[edit]

I thought it was the T-Rex at the runway that also ate those dudes. I'll watch the movie again, but I thought for sure it was a T-Rex. I'll leave it as spinosaurus since you seem pretty sure that's what it is, especially since you have an interest in paleontology. Sorry about the mistake man, the whole article is so messed up with spelling and other left out things that I can't tell what's true or false. The Architect 01 14:17, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey dude, no need to apologize about this, it may very well be that I made a mistake about the dinosaurs and this is all my fault. I promise that I won't make any changes until I watch the movie again to make sure my info is 100% accurate. The Architect 01 16:30, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ben,

I noticed you recently added a taxobox to "Heilongjiangosaurus". While it's great you're expanding articles, this name is only informally used until the animal has been properly described in a scientific paper. It is the consensus of Wikipedia: WikiProject Dinosaurs that informally named genera do not receive taxoboxes (because adding clades to which the animal belongs without a reliable source saying which clade the animal belongs to is Original Research). I have removed the taxobox for now, but hope you will continue to expand Wikipedia's coverage of dinosaurs. Happy editing, Firsfron of Ronchester 21:01, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tyrannotitan size[edit]

Someone must have messed with the size in the article. The original description states that Tyrannotitan is almost the exact same length as Giganotosaurus, maybe a little bigger. 15 meters is nearly spinosaur size! Dinoguy2 02:18, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gigantoraptor[edit]

Hey Ben, no problem. I was going to do a stub last night, but decided against it, since I haven't been able to get a hold of the paper, and I'm loathe to do one based on news articles, which are notorious for getting details wrong... (it doesn't help when even the skeletal reconstruction they're given has an impossibly hyper-extended and out-of-joint leg!). Dinoguy2 02:12, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ben!

Your image of Siamosaurus is very nice, but the backward-pointing pronated "bunny-style" hands don't appear to be very accurate. I've removed this image from the article for now. Is it possible for you to draw a new version of this image, one with forward-pointing hands, and submit it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs/Image review? We're trying to get the most accurate images possible, and it's clear you have artistic talent. Firsfron of Ronchester 19:02, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Todd Marshall Images[edit]

Hey, I tagged a couple of these for review before I noticed the thread on your talk page. The copyright situation is ok as long as the artist has given permission, but it has to be documented on the image pages / talk pages. So what you need to do is forward the permission emails from Todd to the OTRS system. The address is at this link. The OTRS people will then leave a note on the image pages that the permission is confirmed.

Sorry to bug you about this, but people are going to keep tagging the images for review until the permission is confirmed.

Thanks for your contributions! -- But|seriously|folks  04:59, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Sarcosuchus and Nigersaurus.jpg[edit]

Hello Benosaurus. I'm interested to upload your Image:Sarcosuchus and Nigersaurus.jpg to Commons. But I'm wondering what the source of that image is, and whether it is under free licence really? If you like to answer, so do here please. --80.133.236.52 (talk) 13:02, 17 November 2007 (UTC) w:de:Benutzer:TomCatX[reply]

I got the image from www.marshalls-art.com. I e-mailed Todd Marshall to ask him if I could use him images, and he replied and said that I could, if I put the the tags that they have now on them. I'm not sure if I still have the e-mail, but I can certainly check. Benosaurus (talk) 18:00, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. If possible you should upload that picture (I also can it but it is better when you do) to Commons and send the mail to OTRS, so that beautiful picture can be used by everyone. Thank your very much in adcance. Greetings w:de:Benutzer:TomCatX, --80.133.215.189 (talk) 22:54, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yeah, could you please get the license confirmed? They might get deleted if they don't have it, due to there not being any proof for them being released this way. Funkynusayri (talk) 23:32, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hello. You may remember me from the Club Penguin Wiki. I was made a sysop a while ago by TurtleShroom and was recently made a bureacrat by Robbsi. Robbsi became the new webmaster after you left, but, sadly, he quit, so TurtleShroom and I are the new webmasters. Image:Bahariasaurus -2b.PNG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Bahariasaurus.PNG. Commons is a repository of free media that can be used on all MediaWiki wiki's. The image(s) will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Bahariasaurus.PNG]]. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Nodosaurus.jpg, which you've sourced to {{{source}}}. I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 555 20:22, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Cortes Plant Spirit Healing Salve, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 16:21, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
