Nomination of Landon Atterberry for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Landon Atterberry is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Landon Atterberry until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Onel5969 TT me 03:39, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rosters[edit]

Thank you for your work updating team rosters. However, please be aware that most wikipedia projects, such as basketball, choose to have the primary roster initially sorted by last name, not position (which players can play multiple of) or number (which can change at any time and is not necessarily sourceable in the minor levels like TBL). Also, when you updated the season records at 2019 TBL season, where did you find them? The league page has not been updated and many of the past games when never updated on the schedule. Dallas Redbirds moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Dallas Redbirds, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.  I dream of horses  If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message  (talk to me) (My edits) @ 03:03, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gary McClure[edit]

I saw you changed the infobox on the Gary McClure article and it removed all the information that was previously listed. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, so I reverted the change just in case. 76.114.227.101 (talk) 03:53, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article New York Court Kings has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears to fail WP:GNG with no independent coverage. A short statement here stated they disbanded at some point, but without any coverage of this team, it's hard to verify anything.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Undiscussed page move to a name that needs no disambiguation[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Chris Terrell, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Yosemiter (talk) 01:07, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speculative editing[edit]

In regards to your edit here. Wikipedia does not use original research or speculative editing. The G League has made no announcements or comments on the 2019–20 alignment at this time, so please do not change the team formerly known as the BayHawks to SkyHawks until we know where to place them (or the new BayHawks for that matter). Such as, they could completely re-align to 4 divisions if they felt like it at this point, but we have no idea until they post it. That is why the header is NBA G League#2018–19 teams, and not "Current" per MOS:DATED. Thank you, Yosemiter (talk) 01:15, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creating pages without sources[edit]

I have noticed you have been creating pages without significant WP:INDEPENDENT reliable sources. Without significant coverage, the subjects do not meet the General Notability Guidelines. Instagram posts are not suitable sources for meeting WP:GNG as they are not reliable and definitely not independent as they are from the subject itself. Just because something exists does not make it inherently notable. I HIGHLY recommend you actually try submitting one of the now-draft articles (listed in the above sections) you created for approval before making another article. Once you learn from the reviewers there how to properly identify sources, and which subjects have sources that meet WP:GNG, you can become a better editor. Thank you, Yosemiter (talk) 12:42, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Baseballfan1948,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SportingFlyer and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Eric Brodkowitz, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click Publish Changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SportingFlyer}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Edit summaries[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Erie BayHawks (2019–) does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on San Diego Armada requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 21:23, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Anderson, Indiana into Draft:Anderson Aces. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Kokomo BobKats[edit]

I noticed you reverted the redirect/merge on Kokomo BobKats to The Basketball League. There was a consensus to merge per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kokomo BobKats as the subject currently does not have enough independent, non-routine sources to meet WP:GNG. Please do not revert again unless there is new source from a different publication (not the Kokomo Perspective, WP:PRIMARY, or social media websites) to imply WP:NOTABILITY. Editing against a previous WP:CONSENSUS is a violation of Wikipedia policy and can lead to blocks. For more information, the many links in WP:CONDD may be helpful. I have sent you a note about a page you started[edit]

Hello, Baseballfan1948

Thank you for creating Kingsport Appalachian League team.

User:Doomsdayer520, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thanks for this new article. I assume that none of the Appa. League teams have names yet. When that happens for the Kingsport team, be sure to update the article accordingly. Also, the Kingsport team is not named specifically in either of the sources currently used in the article, so anything that mentions them in detail would help.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Doomsdayer520}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

Mid-Atlantic League rosters moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Mid-Atlantic League rosters, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Right now, it is wholly unsourced. As per WP policy, uncited material may be removed at any time.

And as per WP:BURDEN, the material may not be restored without reliable sourcing.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Your draft article Draft:Motor City Cruise does not need to exist and it also violates WP:COPYWITHIN. When the team becomes active, the Northern Arizona Suns page will be moved over the current redirect Motor City Cruise per the consensus of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Basketball. This is the same as when the Bakersfield Jam page was moved to Arizona or when the Erie BayHawks moved to the College Park Skyhawks. I recommend you have the draft deleted. Omaha's Finest moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Omaha's Finest, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Per WP:GNG: Multiple sources are generally expected. Lack of multiple sources suggests that the topic may be more suitable for inclusion in an article on a broader topic. It is common for multiple newspapers or journals to publish the same story, sometimes with minor alterations or different headlines, but one story does not constitute multiple works. Several journals simultaneously publishing different articles does not always constitute multiple works, especially when the authors are relying on the same sources, and merely restating the same information. Similarly, a series of publications by the same author or in the same periodical is normally counted as one source... Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). A tag has been placed on Category:Mid-Atlantic League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

Liz Read! March 2021[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Motor City Cruise a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Yosemiter (talk) 13:55, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Grand Rapids Drive, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Yosemiter (talk) 05:39, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There are no sources that say definitively that they will change their name, only that they might (as of last January). Please stop making these page moves and unsourced changes. Please actually discuss with other users what you doing or it will appear that you have Little or no interest in working collaboratively. You have not made a single Talk Page edit despite many others expressing concerns with your edits. Yosemiter (talk) 05:39, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Ben Wanger. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 00:16, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bakersfield Magic moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Bakersfield Magic, does not have enough sources and citations about the subject itself as written to remain published.

Please use the "Submit your draft for review!" on the draft in the future. Your talk page is evident that you need assistance in article assessment from others for articles that do not meet WP:GNG (sometimes because WP:TOOSOON and sometimes because the teams never play, so it's WP:NOTCRYSTAL). Pressing the Submit for Review will allow other editors that focus on sourcing to give you feedback on the article. Thank you, Yosemiter (talk) 12:34, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

September 2021[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Template:The Basketball League, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Yosemiter (talk) 22:08, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to play with re-formatting the table, please use your sandbox at Baseballfan1948/sandbox. Moving templates that are in use on multiple pages, especially moving a template to a draft, is inappropriate. Please ask for help next time. Yosemiter (talk) 22:22, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article San Diego Guardians has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:51, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves[edit]

Hello, Baseballfan1948,

Please do not make multiple page moves with articles, it is disruptive editing. You should think through an article move and not do so recklessly. Every time you move a page, you leave behind a redirect which has to be dealt with. So, think a page move through before deciding to move an article again. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 06:09, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that you did some of these page moves in 2020, not 2023, it just looked like you have moved articles around 4 or 5 times. Liz Read! Talk! 06:12, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Atletico Orlando[edit]

Hello Baseballfan1948, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Atletico Orlando, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Atletico Orlando.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|North8000}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
