In 2016 we didn't have the capability to grant time-limited user rights or I would have set it for one year then. This is what I feel comfortable doing for an intermittent contributor. Why the awkwardly-named categories?[edit]

Can you please provide some explanation as to your creation of categories such as Category:Films played by Leonardo DiCaprio? Besides the nonsensical naming schema (Leonardo DiCaprio didn't play a film), it's unclear to me why you've created these categories, and they don't appear to be in accordance with Wikipedia standards regarding categorization. "Films where X played" is poor grammar. "Films in which X acted" would be more grammatically appropriate, but I have doubts as to whether what you're trying to do is supported by Wikipedia policies/guidelines. More specifically, if you read the top of the page that you linked me to, it specifically describes category intersections as a feature request, which suggests to me that there's no consensus on making changes associated with it at this time, much less any implementation for category intersections.

TL;DR I think I understand your intentions now, but I don't think what you're trying to do is presently supported by Wikipedia standards. I'd recommend you discuss the situation at the Talk page for the feature proposal to get advice from editors more familiar with the situation. Hope this is helpful! Just came across these empty categories. Such categorization is not allowed per WP:PERFCAT. This would lead to severe overcategorization of film articles because people would want to list every actor who starred in the film. Since categories like "Films directed by X" and "Films scored by X" are already allowed, shouldn't we allow "Films in which X acted"? I don't see why directors or composers would be allowed to have categories but not actors, they are an even more important / popular part of a film. I think it does not matter if there are a lot of categories, for example actor categories could be separated from other categories or listed at the end. One reason is that there's typically only one director or composer associated with a film, but there are typically many actors associated with a film, so adding such categories would lead to significant article expansion. In any event, if you feel strongly about this, I think the best place to raise it would be at the talk page for WP:PERFCAT; even if the three of us agreed here, that wouldn't be a significant consensus.
