Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Rainbow cadenza-newer.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rainbow cadenza-newer.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:04, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted[edit]

I have granted rollback to your account. Please be sure to read WP:ROLLBACK thoroughly and be sure to use to tool to revert no more than simple vandalism, or the function will be removed accordingly. Happy editing to you. Keegantalk 20:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Account Creation Interface[edit]

You have been approved to use the Internal Account Creation Interface! Some important notes before you get started:

  1. Abuse of the interface is not tolerated, and access can be revoked by an interface admin at a moment's notice
  2. You should ask an administrator for the "accountcreator" usergroup, which overrides the 6 account creations/day limit. However, this usergroup too can be removed by any Wiki admin at a moment's notice if abused.

Now that you have read the generic warnings, please read (or re-read if you have read it already) the tool's documentation page which includes a link to the tool's request-filling interface. If you ever need any help, I myself am an interface admin and developer, so feel free to drop me a line on my talk page if you need help, or would like a new welcome template added to the autowelcome feature! --FastLizard4 (TalkIndexSign) 01:30, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish politicians[edit]

Since he replied on my talk page, I thought I'd repost here what I posted over on his talk page, to show how the discussion began. I said... Why are Spanish politicians notable in the English Wikipedia? Are we going to start a page for every politician listed in every language Wikipedia across the world? ;) Perhaps you should concentrate on listing and translating each politician in turn, instead of creating hundreds of stubs. :) Let me know what I can do to help. Banaticus (talk) 10:47, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The notion that spanish politicians are only notable on spanish wikipedia and not in english is quite laughable. I find it quite insulting that you don't think I have any idea of what is notable for wikipedia. Basically you are saying that eventually you think that articles like this will have no encyclopedic value on english wikipedia. The last article I started Diego Arias de Miranda was the Minister of Defence. That would basically be like saying Des Browne is not notable. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:08, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Practically all of the thousand or so articles missing served as a Minister of Spain in some department or their biography in realtion to some of the main political parties in Spain has much encyclopedic value once it is written later. Why do you think I'd bother starting them if they "were not notable". Given the sheer amount missing at Wikipedia:WikiProject Spain/Missing politicians I'd rather rid of the red links first and get them up and running first as a first step. Creating them maximises the possiblity that they will be expanded and if not just yet they are now on WP:Spains agenda to develop. Every one of these articles could be expanded considerably within minutes using spanish wikipedia and other websites which provide information on their biographies. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:59, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I question why time/energy is better spent creating what is apparently thousands of stub articles with nothing in them, rather than spending that same time/energy translating each article in turn. The red links let people know that a proper article needs to be made. Making a mass of stubs makes it looks like the articles exist, but they're tiny stubs, with little more than a name. Someone still has to translate the articles -- that's where the vast bulk of the work lies. I think, by removing the "red links", you're concentrating far more on form at the expense of function. Banaticus (talk) 11:08, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any idea of how many articles I have actually translated from wikipedia or intend to? The other day Chinandega was a sub stub, now look at it. Here is a selection of articles that I have translated:
Chinandega, La Palma, Chalatenango, University of El Salvador Apastepeque, Altamirano, Chiapas, Culture of El Salvador, Andrés de Santa María, 1811 Independence Movement, Santiago José Celis and David Joaquín Guzmán, Martín Cárdenas (botanist), Battle of Acajutla, Diego de Holgiun‎, Coffee production in Ecuador‎ , Caracas Aerial Tramway‎ etc.
Now why do you assume I don't intend to expand the stubs I;ve created? What would be the use if I didn't come back and expand them later? ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In answer to your question I had intended working on a section at a time starting with A rather than the whole lot. Once these have been translated then we move on. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:14, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is kind of what I'm talking about. ;) Every time I try to respond, I get into an edit war because you've edited the article and typed more while I've been typing. I don't think we've been finishing one thing before moving on to the next thing. However many articles you've translated, I think that question about where time/energy might best be spent is still valid. A rose can be a weed, if it grows in the middle of a potato patch., even though it's a beautiful rose. ;) Banaticus (talk) 11:20, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gerardo Abad Conde has been translated. The others will follow. I really don't know what the fuss is about given that these article will be expanded soon enough and are clearly of encyclopedic value once completed. The idea is that I share the workload a bit and encourage other editors to expand them and not leave everything up to me. Quite easily if people bothered to help translate rather than criticising their stub nature we'd devleop a lot quicker. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:06, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've now translated 10-15 articles and will get the rest done soon enough. Please more patient in the future before criticising me. Thanks ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:00, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps articles like Pere Ardiaca and Alonso III Fonseca and the 30 or so other translated articles so far indicate that maybe those stubs were worth starting after all. I still intend to stub more in the future as a prelminary stage. Where we differed I think is that you believed it is best to do each article first rather than creating a batch. As long as they get fill out then it really is a worthy area of improvement for the project ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:28, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note -- Dr. Blofeld's last edit deleted the conversation and posted the last paragraph. I pulled up the previous version of the page and reposted that last paragraph so as to keep the flow of the conversation. Dr. Blofeld, I'm very happy that you've translated several articles. :) Perhaps, next time, you could leave a note regarding your plans somewhere on WikiProject Spain, so that someone like myself sees more than a person who suddenly starts creating dozens of stub pages. I'm glad that you only created the A pages initially, that you took a break from creating stub pages to translate the pages that correspond with the stubs so recently created, for the same reasons that I gave earlier. I can possibly help translate pages as soon as this week (school and work combine such that I often have a long period with plenty of free time, followed by a long period with no free time, followed by a long period with free time, followed by a long period without free time, etc.), now that you've brought WikiProject Spain to my attention. Thanks, I'll see you around. :) Banaticus (talk) 18:47, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your recent messages to me[edit]

Banaticus

Thanks for your recent messages to me (mid August 2008).

I have decided wikipedia is simply (a) too rife with obscure rules and (b) too complicated for me to navigate.

Instead of posting the information I have on Wikipedia and thereby getting into long discussions on (a) format and (b) every little change, I have decided to write and publish a book on Money and the Money Supply.

I will publish this book online on my website and offer hard copies through LULU.com.

The online version of the book will be based on, and replace the material now at <<http://www.howto-ville.com/money%20copy/moneysupply.html>>

Check it out from time-to-time

I may be a dreamer -- but I have high hopes for the book.

I hope it successfully explains Money.... in very simple language.

Even it turns out to be worthless to others -- it will be a learning experience for me.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Good luck with that, I'm happy that I could have been of assistance and I'm sorry you weren't able to work more material into the Wikipedia articles. Maybe sometime in the future after you finish your book -- see you around. :) Banaticus (talk) 09:17, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ermabombeck.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

I thought the fair use rationale template covered the need to declair fair use status, but apparently not -- added another template. ;) Banaticus (talk) 05:50, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review of Helwan HA-300[edit]

Hi Banaticus! I have been working on GA reviews, and began looking at the Helwan HA-300 as my next review. It was at that point that I realized that you had started a GA review on August 9th, with more comments being added in a different section by other editors on August 13th and 18th. Are you still working on this review? Dana boomer (talk) 14:37, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is mainly being reworked by Diaa abdelmoneim (talk), who did virtually all of the work to raise the article from the stub that it once was -- he was the one who requested a review. Since a reviewer can't have substantially contributed to the article, I haven't made any substantial changes in the article. Some other people have also joined the review and contributed their thoughts on the article and how it could be improved on the article's GA review page, linked from the Good Article nomination on the article's Talk page. I invite you to contribute to the review, just as they have or as anyone else may -- review the article, then write your thoughts on it and any suggestions that you may have on the review page. :) Banaticus (talk) 17:35, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I understand all of that. My question was on the status of the review. You opened the review over a week ago, but haven't commented since your initial posting. I was mainly wondering if you had plans to pass, fail, or hold the article, especially since you do not have a tag on the nominations page that "claims" the review as yours, as is the standard procedure. Dana boomer (talk) 17:41, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd prefer to open a dialogue with the primary editor of the article about the review and comments made on the article before either passing or condemning it. ;) I typically give things like that at least a week or so -- haste makes waste and I don't typically try to immediately finish things up the very next day. Real life schedule conflicts always come first and I have no idea what sort of conflicts another person might have. :) Banaticus (talk) 17:54, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption[edit]

Hey hey Banaticus. This is just a quick reminder about the fact you have started my adoption process :). Feel free to carry on whenever. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 14:37, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks -- I did several hundred edits and corrections last week, but school's really been sucking up a lot of my time over the last couple weeks. I'll be back next week, though. :) Banaticus (talk) 02:02, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know how you feel ^^ and thanks for telling me. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 08:00, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey again Banaticus. I was just wondering if you were going to resume the adoption process with me at any time. Please drop by to my talk page and let me know. If I get no reply soon I will presume that you wish to end the process. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Addshore (talkcontribs) 11:46, 20 October 2008

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo CraftonHills.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo CraftonHills.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, please delete it. The article is currently using the .png image instead of the .gif image. Banaticus (talk) 09:08, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page redesign[edit]

The Main Page Redesign proposal is currently conducting a straw poll to select five new designs, before an RFC in which one will be proposed to replace the Main Page. The poll closes on October 31st. Your input would be hugely appreciated! Many thanks, PretzelsTalk! 10:21, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Keegan Uchacz[edit]

Can you delete the page for Keegan Uchacz. I am the real Keegan Uchacz, and some of the people in the dorm thought it would be a hilarious idea to create a fake page and be a bunch of jerks. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.101.49.98 (talk) 06:12, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you mean, but that page was deleted the night before you posted. Have a great day! :) Banaticus (talk) 09:14, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
