Moved article from main namespace[edit]

Hi. Your article is not ready for the main encyclopaedia as it misses key elements of our articles, and links to your personal pages which is truly not how encyclopaedias work. Please utilise the help pages for further information and enquire at WP:Teahouse for getting assistance to get your article to standard. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ErgoLight requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Editing with a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Avi Harel. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Largoplazo (talk) 18:52, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove or rewrite your main user page[edit]

Your main user page, User:Avi Harel, needs to be deleted or rewritten so that it is not an advertisement for yourself. See WP:USERPAGE, and note that it currently violates WP:FAKEARTICLE. A single paragraph about yourself is usually acceptable. --Ronz (talk) 17:21, 11 September 2016

Thanks for removing it. --Ronz (talk) 15:00, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Awaiting your response[edit]

I think at discussion at WP:COIN should be started about your editing, and that most of your edits should be removed from Wikipedia. Clearly you are using Wikipedia for self-promotion, and you have chosen to ignore the advice given to you here in July about editing against a conflict of interest. I think it would be helpful to await for your response at this point, but I am not advising anyone else from continuing the cleanup of your edits if they feel it is appropriate. --Ronz (talk) 18:00, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is a waste of time trying to argue that you do not have a conflict of interest as defined by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please look at WP:COI and the comment left in July here. You definitely have written articles about your work and you definitely have been adding links to your websites (and some of those links are definitely spam). --Ronz (talk) 21:00, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Were you editing as A_naive_user and Ergolight?[edit]

It appears you initially were using A_naive_user (talk · contribs) to edit on Wikipedia, then later Ergolight (talk · contribs). Can you confirm this? --Ronz (talk) 15:15, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe you are correct. I do not remember the exact circumstances, but I recall vaguely that when I started to contribute to Wikipedia, I did not know how to identify myself. Anyway, it is my style, as a usability professional, to use the term "naive user". I do not remember identifying myself as Ergolight, but I believe I did, because this was the name of my company, and this is the name of my methodology. Also, I can recognize the content of the contributions under these names, which must be mine. Honestly, I did not try to hide my identity. It is just that I did not know what and how to do things (and, although now I know much better, it seems that I still do the wrong things).Avi Harel (talk) 18:40, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Don't worry about it. I just wanted to be sure that no other people are involved. Creating accounts like this is fairly typical for new editors. I've done it myself. --Ronz (talk) 23:46, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

COI discussion started[edit]

I've started the discussion here. That will get others' help. There's a great deal going on here and I don't currently have time to look into it all. This way you're not waiting on me. Thanks for your responses and patience. --Ronz (talk) 15:50, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A bit about notability and independent sources[edit]

I expect you've learned more about Wikipedia's notability guidelines by now. It's a rather strongly-enforced set of guideline that help identify what topics are appropriate as stand-alone articles. Note the emphasis on independence of sources. You asked for my advice earlier on how you can write about your methods without breaking the rules. The advice I always give is to work from reliable, independent sources. If an independent source has enough depth, it will likely meet Wikipedia's notability standards for the topic. Even if it doesn't have the needed level of detail, it will likely be very helpful in many other ways as detailed in Wikipedia:Independent_sources#Policies_and_guidelines_requiring_third-party_sources. --Ronz (talk) 19:17, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What about conference articles?[edit]

Hello Ronz. Thank you for your explanations. The situation in my case is still not clear to me.

  • Most of my references are articles presented in professional conferences. The publisher is a third party. Isn't it? Are these references acceptable? If yes, why to you tag them as spamming?
  • Typically, these articles are available in printed form, and may be found in libraries. Typically, they are not available on-line. Do you actually check the articles in the libraries? Otherwise, how can you judge about their relevance?
  • Because I assume that you do not check the article in libraries regularly, I uploaded the articles to my web site, and provided links to these articles. Is this considered spamming? Do you suggest that I refrain from helping the reviewers and the public get the articles online? Avi Harel (talk) 06:01, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A good question on that is: do you have the copyright rights to put that work on your website for free, or did you give them up to the publisher? We cannot use works which are copyright violations, and yes, to a general reader, it looks like you're promoting the web site and your own work. On Wikipedia, you absolutely cannot write about yourself or your own work, and whatever you write about in general also may not cite your own work. A third party publisher is irrelevant, because in the end, the publisher didn't write the work, you did. MSJapan (talk) 15:50, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the explanation. Avi Harel (talk) 16:14, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The conference articles are primary, non-independent, reliable sources. The publisher is reputable and the articles have been reviewed but not edited for accuracy and importance within that field.
MSJapan has described the copyright issues well. See WP:COPYVIO, and check with the publisher to see what rights you have. I wouldn't be surprised if you have simply must ask for permission and properly identify the copyright of the publisher.
Spam is something else: "Spam is the inappropriate addition of links or information to Wikipedia with the purpose of promoting an outside organization, individual or idea, and is considered harmful to the encyclopedia." per WP:SPAM. COI cautions against editors adding links to their own websites and works. See WP:SELFCITE. --Ronz (talk) 16:29, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on James Reason requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.safetyleaders.org/superpanel/superpanel_james_reason.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hello, Avi Harel. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "System usability".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. DannyS712 (talk) 05:39, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, DannyS712. Thank you for your message. I realize that many of my submissions were deleted, that many other were merged wrongly, adding ambiguity to the terms, and that I waste too much time trying to learn the submission rules, and to follow them correctly. A simple example: I do not know how to separate my response from your message.

Therefore, until Wikipedia is more friendly to editors, I decided to let other people, who are more competent than I, do the work. I may try again in the future, when I have more free time. Thanks, Avi Harel 84.108.57.84 (talk) 07:50, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
