Orphaned non-free media (File:NorwichCityFCcrest.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:NorwichCityFCcrest.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:17, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welsh[edit]

Hi, Sorry to bother you, but you're listed as someone who speaks welsh, the first active editor in the cat actually. Basically, over at WP:PNT, we have this article, Ac yna clywodd swn y mor, and while we're fairly sure its not especially encyclopedic, we can't find a machine translator for welsh to give us the gist of it. If you could look it over and tell us what its even about, it would be very helpful. Thanks--Jac16888Talk 22:34, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's a fairly non-notable description of a Welsh novel. cy.wikipedia doesn't have an article on the book, but does on the author, cy:Alun_Jones. Here's a quick-and-dirty translation:
Ac Yna Clywodd Swn y Mor (And Then He Heard the Sound of the Sea)
1. Information.
This book was written in 1979 by local author Alun Jones of Pwllheli. It was printed by the Gomer Press.
2. The book.
This is one of the most-read novels to be published in Welsh. Latterly it has been said that the detective novel, the romance novel, and the social novel have all been knitted-together here. Yes, there is a young man accused of assaulting a girl, and there is also a group of policemen trying to corner gem thieves, but we also come across a number of events which are as if they have grown naturally from the soil of Llyn. And connected to everything is the sound of the sea.
3. Contents of the book.
The book opens in the past, when Richard Jones is burying jewels in Penerddig. After he has buried the jewels, he is involved in a car accident which leaves him crippled.
In the present, Meredith Parry is trying to prove his innocence of the rape of Bethan Gwastad Hir. After his release from prison, we see his family's responses. Once, Now Tan Ceris is in the White Gull, where he is showing everyone is laughing at him. This last bit doesn't make an awful lot of sense, even in the original!
It's up to you whether it's notable for en, but I wouldn't have thought so. Cheers. -- Arwel Parry (talk) 23:33, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. You're right not worth keeping. Was sorely tempted to Iar and delete it now, but couldn't bring myself to do it so I've prodded it. Thanks for your help--Jac16888Talk 23:51, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FINA[edit]

Is not a sponsor, it is the Fédération Internationale de Natation, the world governing body of diving and other aquatic sports. Greg Grahame (talk) 11:28, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I know, but ALL Google News reports until last night referred to the Fort Lauderdale meet as the "AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix" with no mention of FINA. Some reports today have started mentioning FINA. I see from this page on the FINA site that the meet is simultaneously both the 39th USA Diving Grand Prix and the 15th FINA Diving Grand Prix, so I'm not going to quibble. -- Arwel Parry (talk) 12:35, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Black knight, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Black knight. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Fair use rationale for File:Eirea5pb.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Eirea5pb.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:14, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Winton[edit]

Hi. Do you know a lot about this subject? I arrived at it only yesterday, when I heard about the Winton Train and so created the article for it, but a couple of things were bugging me as I wrote it. First, the sources seem to conflict as to whether the last train that was stopped by the Nazis was on 1 Sep or 3 Sep, and secondly, whether the Winton transports were officially part of the Kindertransport programme (our article is no help), or whether that was a retrospective name given because of the neighbouring official trains. Not big issues, but if you want, feel free to investigate. MickMacNee (talk) 22:14, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
