hello, I am a bit late to answer but you corrected my edit that the N900 has a pressure sensitive screen. It is indeed pressure sensitive (not just pressure activated) and that's why mypaint (originally made for wacom pressure sensitive tablets) works on it with pressure sensitivity. You can even change the assignment graph for pressure. Reference http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=41807 Qwazix (talk) 18:13, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

just would like to tell you that when you entered the score on the table it did not work. I am not a wiz at tables or anything but the "-" has to be followed underneath the score so that it knows when the score ends. eg.

HELP.[edit]

I'm new to wikipedia, well in terms of editing anyways. I was trying to fix the RNA DNA comparison image from your last update, but I can't quite grasp how to do it, i've been all over the help pages and it says simply upload the image with the same name but it won't let me saying that I'm trying to replace a file with the same name, go figure! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Fabio

Well there should be 2 buttons with one saying "save file". That is the one you should click which would allow you to save your image. If you want I can provide you the svg file I created. Also I would appreciate it if you signed your message using -~~~~ instead of typing your name. --antilived T | C 05:48, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do I have to edit the image directly on wiki, as I just saved the image off wiki and edited it? Because I can't see the 'save file' button on the upload file menu. I've managed to upload it under a different name, but I wouldn't want to change all the links to it, seeing it's the result of lots individual updates and that would look like I made it. Sorry about the signing, hope this is better. Fabiolib 11:03, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of recipes[edit]

Hi, I agree with your removal of RyanGrether's recipes (as they do not belong on Wikipedia). However, in future it would be helpful if you could (at least) explain your reasoning via edit summaries.

The person was a new contributor, and probably well-intentioned if misguided. I put a brief note on his talk page explaining why his recipes had been removed. Perhaps this would also be a useful idea for other newbies if you have to remove any recipes and the like in future.

All the best,

Kevin Rudd[edit]

Howdy. I "found" you through WP:FPC. This a pseudo translation request: In Kevin Rudd, someone added his Chinese name for the purpose of referring to Chinese newspaper articles about him. Anyway, I was wondering if you could perhaps reference his Chinese name in one of those articles. I Googled "陆克文 Kevin Rudd" and of course lots of articles in Chinese came up. I know you speak Cantonese and he knows Mandarin, but I'm assuming some of the articles may be sufficiently intelligible for a reference! Leon 14:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi from me, too. I'm the one who originally raised the question - for the reason that the image has a moire, which suggests (but does not prove) it is a scan, not a photograph. We (i.e. the wikipedians on WP:FPC) don't wish to make any trouble, we just want to know why that photo has a moire pattern over it. We would very much like to have a better version uploaded, without the artifacts... Greetings, Janke | Talk 19:05, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Graphics Lab[edit]

I saw your name listed on Wikiproject Illustration or the list of graphic artists, and I thought I'd let you know that a Graphics Lab has been created on EN. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! The infrastucture is already in place, and now we need participants. :) --Zantastik talk 01:22, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Evermore_-_It´s_Too_Late.ogg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Evermore_-_It´s_Too_Late.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 12:52, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information on the firmware for the PMP device[edit]

Hi, thanks for he link to the pmp101 firmware. I tried it, but it did not work... After updating the device, the PC recognizes de device as a usb drive and I can access the mp3 folder and the DCIM folder, but the screen is still black.

Out of the different firmwares that I have tried, one from Neonumeric was the only one one that was able to turn on the screen, but the icons were bigger than normal and you could not really navigate throught the menus... Anyway, do you happen to know any other link to a firmware based on the spca536 chip (no FM, no Camera, 128MB)? Thank you very much for your help.--Fistanes 21:03, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have one that's got 512 memory without FM or camera. I think pretty much all the PMP series on here (select MP4 on the left, only works in IE) uses spca536, at least until mine, PMP103. What is your MP4's original brand? That may help narrow down compatible firmwares. --antilivedT | C | G 05:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a Best Buy Easy Player PMP Flash. I've contacted the company, but they seem reluctant to send me the original firmware. They want me to send the device and they can't even tell me how much it would cost to repair it (since it was a present I do not have the receipt. In any case I believe the warranty already expired) I tried the PMP101, the PMP103 and the PMP103C firmwares and none of them seem to work...--Fistanes 06:06, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi- I wanted to contact you about the DNA vs. RNA image, as I would like to use it in a publication (a reference book), and would like to ask you if/how I can use it abiding by the GNU FDL, and what are any big restrictions that might exist.

Also, is there a way to contact via e-mail directly? If there is a way, let me know what I should/can do to get in touch with you. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Acnaj (talkcontribs) 15:33, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, please see WP:REUSE for reusing Wikipedia's content. I'm not entirely sure myself how can you abide the GFDL in this case, specifically whether you need to release your publication in GFDL as well. Unfortunately I've lost the original source SVG file of that picture, but I will re-trace it and upload it shortly. --antilivedT | C | G 05:43, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re nav list[edit]

I'll look at it later today. I think the reason things are layed out the way they are is so you get that nice larger-tab effect on the highlighted tab. Not sure that would work with a list, but I'll try it after classes today. Also, putting borders in between the items makes it practically impossible to tell which is highlighted- only the current desk's tab should have top and bottom borders. I'll play around with it after classes, I'm late --ffroth 13:53, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GAARGH I can't get it to work. you're welcome to give it a shot. Wikipedia:Reference_desk/header/nav Wikipedia:Reference desk/header/nav/aux. The <li>s shoot off the side of the page no matter how you try to restrict their size. If you want to try it yourself, you'll want to go off the late revisions (a few revisions back, sorry I got a little messed up reverting my changes) of those pages so you have a starting point. --ffroth 01:08, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I have no idea what you did different than me, the colors don't shoot off the right side! yeah I'm aware of floats not working- not only does it align disgustingly, but it looks terrible in IE. Switching to tables happened in the first week of the header because of complaints IIRC. You're really right about it being preferable to switch to lists/CSS in the nav, but I'm still not convinced it's possible. Can you reproduce the effect of the highlighted tab expanding a bit into the space of other tabs? This is extraordinarily difficult to perfect with tables (right now it's a little broken because of a hack to get it to work when I was writing the header/nav/aux code- the highlighted desk name shouldn't shift downward slightly when bolded) and it _should_ be easier with list items but I can see serious complications at the top and bottom of the list. The way you'd pull this off is (off the top of my head) adding pixels of vertical padding and of negative vertical margins to the highlight tab, so it expands without having to mess with the other tabs. Otherwise it's a nightmare to pull off in wikicode. Oh, and nowiki tags were around the colors because the configuration file always evaluates to a single string- in the case of colors this is a # followed by the 3 rgb octets. In this case obviously it looks like a single item ordered list, so when you transclude it, it tries to transclude the code for a list. Don't believe me? Here's a simplified test- the text should be red, check out the source. I know a lot of the other code in the header is sloppy, I just finished what could almost be considered the 3rd-generation rewrite since it's a drastically different model... it's not pretty because I had to write the entire thing live. Before the rewrite, the header actually had to be called from one of the desks and it was impossible to have a working model in user space, so half of the code was frantically written in short spurts of hacks to fix a just-horribly-broken live header :) --ffroth 06:35, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Really? Well in the main header if those nowikis arent in the configuration file, about 100 list items pop up randomly around the header, so something's going on —Preceding unsigned comment added by Froth (talkcontribs) 13:48, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for restoring my comment on Wikipedia:Reference Desk/Computing. We both undid my edit at the same time and for the same reason (that's why your undo didn't show up in the history -- mine had already happened, or happened at the same time). Thanks for taking the extra time to put the comment in for me. I don't know why my edit messed things up, but it did. Could be a web browser problem (happened to me once before; and there does seem to be something ever so slightly weird with one of the existing comments, that could have set off a browser issue), or I just edited the wrong version and didn't notice, or something. -- Why Not A Duck 00:38, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FS Passengers[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article FS Passengers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of FS Passengers. Non-free use disputed for Image:Goldenhorse_-_Maybe_Tomorrow.ogg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Goldenhorse_-_Maybe_Tomorrow.ogg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 11:44, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

POTD

Hi Antilived,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture Image:Dampfturbine Laeufer01.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on April 29, 2008. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2008-04-29. howcheng {chat} 21:54, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Metrication controversy[edit]

Hi Antilived,

You were right to remove my POV about the unit proliferation. It would be nice though if we could find some statistics of what percentage of the US population knows the conversion factors between all common length, weight, area and volume units correctly by heart. The GIMP image layer stacking, how?[edit]

Hi. I'm just wondering if you know how this is done? Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 17:25, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I tried anti-aliasing the image but the paths tool wasn't producing the intended result: either it removed the entire image, or it didn't allow erasing of the unwanted parts, or the anti-alias was temporary, or sometimes the paths tool dissapeared when I clicked on another tool, or the shift+v didn't do anything. We are trying to produce a free globe stand similar to this one, but that's copyrighted. Are there areas that still need to be anti-aliased/improved? Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 00:23, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yea you can't select other tools while doing the path, but why would you need to anyway? If you're having trouble with it I suggest you to do it through layer masks: follow the tutorial up to the "Ctrl+I" part (but don't press Ctrl+I), right click on the active layer, press add layer mask, and in the new dialog select "selection". Of course, you need to do that from scratch, on the source images. You can't anti-alias something that's already aliased. --antilivedT | C | G 01:05, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Please see here, I tried aligning the parts, but something is removing the resolution even though I clicked on the highest resolution and how do you measure the layers and rescale them so that they fit on top perfectly and I have learned a lot about the layers but is it possible to have both resolution but to make the three parts blend in at the same time? Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 18:46, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a tip[edit]

I read on your user page that you are not a native English speaker, so I thought I'd give you a quick tip (sorry if it bothers you, I'm only trying to help :) ). On the refdesk, you wrote "Upscaling doesn't really worth the hype it has." The word "worth" isn't a verb; the verb is "to be worth." So it should say "Upscaling isn't really worth the hype it has."--96.227.17.224 (talk) 17:24, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yea I had it like that originally and then changed it to "does", based on how "il vaut" is used in French... I don't really use "worth" much so I'm not quite sure which one is correct. Thanks for the pointer. --antilivedT | C | G 22:29, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gold globe stand[edit]

We're trying to make this (the stand, not the globe inside it - that part will probably be replaced):

It's not quite done yet, but we're closer now than ever!

The final image will be used for an award in an upcoming competition using advanced wikitools and called "Around the World".

See the main discussion on the graphics under development for the awards at User:Penubag/graphics.

Mobile phones[edit]

Thanks for answering my question on the Reference Desk about mobile phones with good web access (especially for Google Maps). It was just a little over my head, though. How would I look for 3G mobile phones that are J2ME compatible? Are "3G" and "J2ME" terms that the average mobile phone salesperson in the US is likely to understand? Will those terms appear in the specs of phones (available in the US) advertised online? Do you know if SIM cards for 3G phones running J2ME are readily available in the UK? Are certain phones better suited for use in both the US and the UK than others? If you don't know, do you know how I might research this? Thank you once again! Marco polo (talk) 14:53, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

J2ME basically means the ability to run Java apps on mobile phones. Pretty much all mobile phones support it (unless you're using BREW or things like that). In addition to Java Google Maps Mobile also come in native varieties for phones that support native applications, such as Symbian and Windows Mobile. But you don't have to care about whether you have the right version, just go to [2] on your cell phone and you will be automatically directed to the right version. Just to double check you can go on sites like [3], look up your phone, and it will say in the specifications whether it supports Java MIDP(J2ME) or whether it supports 3G network. For global use I would get a GSM/UMTS(3G) phone as that has the biggest range of mobiles and works in the most area. According to List of UMTS networks there are a few networks with UMTS networks that operates on 2100Mhz in the UK, but only 1 network in the US and it operates on 850/1900Mhz. Most 3G phones nowadays are already tri-band but you should double check just to be sure. Be careful though, if you don't have a data plan Google Maps Mobile can cost you a lot of money to use. --antilivedT | C | G 08:18, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So called "Pheonix TV" stuff completely fails WP:V, WP:RS, WP:N[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing, such as the edit you made to :{{{Reports of organ harvesting from Falun Gong in China}}}. If your vandalism continues, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

The stuff you are trying to add is in complete violation of: WP:RS.

There is absolutely no way such stuff can be kept in the article - it obviously being mere CCP propaganda - stuff that has no acceptance in the academic community - sourced directly from a CCP propaganda website.

Such propaganda has been strongly criticize by all independent, academic sources on the subject and also by HR organizations - including Amnesty and HRW. K-M reports mention such propaganda pushing by the CCP. The Western standard has reported on it.

The RSF has Published a detailed report on CCP propaganda and the extent to which it manufactures things to push its propaganda.[4]

Please note that judged by wikipedia standards, your edits count as blatant vandalism - in complete violation of WP:RS, WP:N and WP:V . I see another editor had reverted the propaganda you wrote into the article, but you insisted on pushing such stuff in. Please refrain from adding such propaganda into the article. Dilip rajeev (talk) 04:51, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Have you even seen the talk page? Asdfg had agreed that the source has its merits and that although it should be reworked into to the context it should not be blindly removed. Your ignorance simply amazes me, Dilip. --antilivedT | C | G 04:56, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have you read WP:RS?
Dilip rajeev (talk) 05:04, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I have. From WP:RS, "Material from mainstream news organizations is welcomed", and Phoenix TV is way more mainstream, at least in the Chinese community, than any of the FLG-sponsored media outlet. Can you please point out how it violates RS? And next time, decide on what tag you are going to use, and STOP spamming both the talk page and user talk pages with the same message, as that will only divide up the discussion into hard-to-follow conversations. And please, do everything in 1 edit. Why did you take 6 edits to add that simple comment? I had 2 edit conflicts just to add this message. --antilivedT | C | G 05:10, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is not an academic study. A lot of propaganda from CCP has appeared on Hong Kong based news channels. We cannot use any of those in the article - because it not only has no standing within the academic or the human rights community - but is also severely criticized by them. Hong Kong news channels have carried news saying Dalai Lama is a CIA sponsored anti-china spy - could we add it into the article on Dalai Lama? Obviously not - that a hong kong news channel ran a video made by CCP, absolutely does not lend it legitimacy. The views must have at least some standing and acceptance in the academic community. The video being allowed to interview people whom western media is not allowed access to - in itself - speaks of the vitiated and propagandistic nature of the piece. Who made the video, what are the international experts on the field such as Kilgour and Matas' views on it, has it got any Notability , why doesn't it interview any of the internationally renowned experts on it? I dont think its rocket science stuff to figure out the video is a mere propaganda piece - which no notability in the academic or human rights community.
Dilip rajeev (talk) 05:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Since when is it an academic matter? Since when does it require human rights organisation approval? How do you know western media is not allowed to access to these people? For what it's worth those inspectors from US consulate probably have talked to these people, interviewed them, just not videoed. Also, have you actually seen those examples or just hearsay? Please provide me with a link? What makes Kilgour and Matas "expert" on this field when they have never stepped in China, never seen the facilities, and have no previous reputation in this field? And for FSM's sake, STOP SPAMMING MY TALK PAGE WITH SO MANY SMALL EDITS! --antilivedT | C | G 05:32, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Kilgour and Matas have been denied entry into China despite repeated requests. US consulate has said that though it was unable to find evidence during the tour in the specific case of sujaitun, "[i]ndependent of these specific allegations[of sujiatun], the United States remains concerned over China’s repression of Falun Gong practitioners and by reports of organ harvesting."
You may also want to read through the article: According to a 2006 Congressional Executive Commission report, Huang Jiefu, China's Vice Minister of Health, had indicated in July of 2005 that as high as 95% of organ transplants in China derive from execution.[15] The report states that circa 65% of "capital offenses" in China are for nonviolent "crime".
You can do a google on Kilgour or Matas. Amnesty Internation, UN special rapporteur on torture, international medical societies, all have raised acute concerns following the Kilgour Matas reports. Yale university thesis based on financial analysis, undercover sky news reports, all have corroborated KM reports. Needless to say that is an example of something that carries 'notability'. International governments have changed their poilcies, australian hospitals stopped training chinese surgeons on transplant surgery. Thats why KM reports are notable and a worthy source for the article. A chinese CCP propaganda piece that aired in hing kong making wild claims and filming scripted interviews is by no means a neutral source, neither does it satisfy WP:V
Dilip rajeev (talk) 06:16, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We are getting off-track here. How is the statistic of 95% of the organ donations came from executed prisoners relevant to here I don't know, perhaps you are trying to imply a majority of them are FLG practitioners? How ARE any of the claims wild anyway? That a 200-bed hospital simply doesn't have the facility to house 6000 people without causing chaos, or that neither of the hospitals mentioned in the report are capable of doing organ transplantation (it's not just cutting it out from someone and slapping it into someone else, you know)? Since the reports various legislations and standards had been put in place by the government, as documented in the programme. Are those less notable than some Australian hospital refuse to train Chinese surgeons, other than it being less sensational? I suggest you to move all discussion on topic to the talk page, and stop all off-topic discussion. --antilivedT | C | G 06:23, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked for a period of 24 hours for edit warring on Reports of organ harvesting from Falun Gong in China. It is essential that you are more careful to discuss controversial changes with the user in question, rather than simply revert them repeatedly: this applies even if you think or know you are correct. Edit warring helps nobody, and actually harms the page in question, and the encyclopedia. To contest this block please place {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Request reason:

I have only done 3 reverts in total. The only controversial revert I did was this, which was caused by me misunderstanding that User:Asdfg12345 didn't even read my addition before removing it ("I hadn't actually seen you add that giant section. I've removed it." - User:Asdfg12345). Subsequently we had reached a semi-consensus and he didn't remove it again until the summarisation. Then User:Dilip rajeev comes in and reverted it without even reading the talk page or such, twice, repeating the same points of it being hosted on a CCP website on the talk page, which was resolved earlier in my discussion with Asdfg12345. I have been actively talking with other editor(s) throughout the whole process. Although the addition was controversial and disputed at first we have worked out a solution, and IMHO it's perfectly reasonable to maintain a status quo while user:Asdfg12345 works on a summarisation.

Decline reason:

You were blocked for edit warring not for 3RR. The article is on Article Probation and disruptive editing can result in a block or even a ban. Three reverts in six hours counts. — Selket Talk 23:22, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Receiving VOIP/SIP calls without computer on[edit]

Do you pay monthly fees to a special VOIP provider (like Vonage) for it to work or does it only need an internet connection and then all calls are free to other VOIP phones? I am loooking for a technological solution through which each of our family members would not need to pay a 30 $ monthly fee for it to work. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 17:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good question[edit]

I was kind of wondering about that too. But it isn't a "simple vectorization" that is the original file I made, I don't have any other one to add. (As I said "This is NOT the original image produced by Watami") And many famous illustrators on Wiki Commons talk about using something as a base for their original work. Organ harvesting[edit]

There are people who are so blinkered that they wouldn't know WP:NPOV if it hit them in the face although they can quote it and throw it at you like their own gospel. This is particularly the case with Falun Gong single-purpose accounts. Quite often, there is just no talking to them because they just shut their ears when you say something they do not want to hear. From all the research I've read, this trait is pervasive to FG practitioners. I've noticed of late they are starting to make more and more bitter personal attacks on those they disagree with - so much for "truth, compassion and tolerance" Ohconfucius (talk) 07:21, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why brackets[edit]

In China Marine (memoir) I put the section titles in brackets since they don't reflect any of his chapter names. The book has a lot of chapters of varying length which really look like they were just stuck in by an editor after Sledge died. So I divided the synopsis by the three main settings, Okinawa, China and America, as well as the epilogue. Will watch your talk page for a few days. Trilobitealive (talk) 16:37, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MB vs MiB[edit]

In Ubuntu (operating system) you commented why do we need to specify how many bytes there are when we can use MiB and the like? And choosing between sever and desktop doesn't mean you're locked into CLI/GUI. The answer can be found in WP:COMPUNITS. MiBs is not correct as per Ubuntu's specs. And the guideline is to explain the units so even if you use MiBs you would have to explain that it's 10003. It was news to me too. Please discuss it either on the guideline page or on the article's page. Thanks. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:28, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Tiptoety talk 06:40, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Under this motion editors working on Falun Gong articles are subject to Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions. Be aware that when discussing matters on the talkpages of Falun Gong related articles to stick strictly to the content, and not to wander into statements that reflect on any individuals. While your intentions are entirely honourable in the discussion taking place on Talk:Shen Yun Performing Arts in that you wish to clarify if certain reviews are appropriate, you have been drawn into making comments that can be seen to be provocative, such as "Enough with the exaggerations". The tone of your comments indicates some personal exasperation with the other person. When you do feel yourself being in some way irritated by another user, it makes sense to either draw back for a while, re-read carefully your posts before pressing Save page, or to ask a neutral person to comment/get involved. As you have drawn attention to and asked me to comment on this incident, you have done the right thing, and this comment on your talkpage should not be seen as a formal warning as understood by Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions, but as personal advice from one Wikipedia editor to another. Yeah a replacement for , but completely different. There are no other requirements except it being yellow. Just design me a new logo to put on my page if you like. So more information, perhaps some things on your mind, designs that you like, etc. would be good. --antilivedT | C | G 05:47, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be happy with mostly anything. I don't really know what I want. Just try a page design and logo etc, and I tell you if I don't like it. I most likely will though, because it will be better than anything I can design e.g. my current logo.  Socks 01  07:51, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Signature[edit]

Sorry to bother you again but could you please make me a signature that is the same as my new logo. Thanks.  Socks 01  07:26, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if that's feasible without using images. Don't know what the current signature policy is but images weren't allowed to be used in signatures the last time I looked at it (although I have seen a few image-based signatures). Without the use of images maybe something like Socks 01 or Socks 01, depending which colour scheme you want. The rounded border won't work on older IE browsers but most other modern browsers should support it. I tried to skew the signature to make it look like the logo but it doesn't seem to work on inline elements. Here's the code with block elements if you want to try it, but you'd have to change the width if you change the content of your signature.
Socks 01
As you can see it won't display inline with text so I'm not sure how that's gonna work as a signature. --antilivedT | C | G 06:14, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Antilived. Please note that pages related to Falun Gong, like Shen Yun Performing Arts, may fall under the the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions. I would draw your attention to these sentences, from that page: "Editors wishing to edit in these areas are advised to edit carefully, to adopt Wikipedia’s communal approaches (including appropriate conduct, dispute resolution, neutral point of view, no original research and verifiability) in their editing, and to amend behaviors that are deemed to be of concern by administrators. An editor unable or unwilling to do so may wish to restrict their editing to other topics, in order to avoid sanctions." The Sound and the Fury (talk) 15:24, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:TencetTM.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TencetTM.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:18, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Evermore - It´s Too Late.ogg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Evermore - It´s Too Late.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay[edit]

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
