Welcome!

Hello, Anas Salloum, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

An article with 2 or more possible names?!

I wrote an article on the village of Zweitina. The name of the village however, can be written in other forms. It can be written as 'Zuweitina' or 'Zouweitina' and there are a few other possibilites too. The article was named Zweitina. Now, how do I make it possible for searchs on the other possibilites redirect the user to, in this case, 'Zweitina', the hypothetically correct page? Thanks in advance. Anas Salloum 01:05, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. I created the two redirections you mentionned (check the links I added on your text). Usually, you create an other article with the alternative spelling and you just click the #R icon on the toolbar and put the name of the main article. Here for example, I wrote #REDIRECT [[Zweitina]] as the article text. I hope this was useful, don't hesitate to put the helpme tag or ask me if you have any other question. Happy editing! -- lucasbfr talk 00:48, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Wow, thanks a lot Lucas, I appreciate the quick help :) . Anas Salloum 01:05, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Categorizing help..

I need to categorize this article, Communications and Information Technology Commission. It's a communications authority commission. I can't find the right category :-/. The closest I got was Category:Federal Communications Commission, but I'm pretty sure that it's not right. If one knows which is the right category for the article, then please help. --Anas Salloum 14:26, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

It's OK, got it, Category:Communications authorities --Anas Salloum 14:31, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

User page and talk page..

Could someone please help me by giving me links to guides on how to arrange my user page and talk page to make them look neat and inviting. You know make them look better, like how to make a to-do list, adding those user pictures (Native speaker, firefox user, etc.). I know it's kind of stupid, but hey I'd appreciate it if someone helped me :). Thanks in advance. --Anas Salloum 01:16, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Sure! You can learn how to archive your talk pages at WP:ARCHIVE. You can learn all about userboxes at WP:Userbox, and the collection of userboxes can be found here. The best way to learn how to make your pages spiffy is to look at other userpages and see how they're put together. You can make your own sandbox (User:Anas Salloum/Sandbox) and play around with different things there. Let me know if you have more specific questions--just drop a line on my talk page. -- Merope Talk 01:21, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Merope, thank you man, you're the best. I really appreciate it my friend.--Anas Salloum 01:23, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
No problem! If you look at my userpage, though, you'll notice that one of my userboxes says I'm a female.  ;) Let me know if you have other questions!
God, I just entered your userpage and found out, rushing to my talk page I recieve your message. Terribly sorry Merope! :S --Anas Salloum 01:41, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Dude, it's cool. You're not the first person to think I'm a guy, nor will you be the last. I was just being silly.  ;) -- Merope Talk 01:35, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Hehe, well, I sure hope I won't do that mistake again. Thanks again Merope, you're a good sport. ;) --Anas Salloum 01:42, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Abu Kamal

Thanks a lot for editing Abu Kamal. Actually, you have made readable. I spent a lot of time working on it. I tried to include some important points such as those of Dura Europes and Mari which are two important historical and tourists sites in Syria.

I know that talking about dress and marriage were too much but I meant to go in depth and give insight on how people like those live their life (especially and largely because the same applies to most Arabs).

I think you are doing a great job and you deserve the barnstar by the way.

Hi Anas, Thanks for your note. As I said in the edit summary, these articles did not meet Wikipedia's "assertion of notability" requirement. Under Wp:csd#Articles, the article must at least assert the companies are somehow notable, because this is an encyclopedia. Do they serve 4 million customers a day? Was one of these companies the first ISP in Saudi Arabia? Are they known for any controversies? Have they received any awards in the industry? Are they owned by someone famous? Do they have any claim to fame? If so, say so in the article, including a reference. Without some bare assertion of notability, there is no point in keeping such articles, as Wikipedia is not a directory of ISPs. I do not object to recreation of the articles, as long as their notability is included in the article. The articles as they were written included no claim to notability. Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 16:32, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Good luck and happy editing, Anas. :) Firsfron of Ronchester 16:46, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Arabic script pages

Hi -- I noticed you are active in the effort to provide Arabic script for pages needing it. I was wondering if you would mind taking a look at Backgammon#Name when you get a chance -- I'm not sure the word we have there (ifranjiah) is right, and we don't have the transcription. The original editor who added it appears to be unavailable. I would have added the {{arabic}} template to the talk page, but it looks like that is intended for articles whose names are Anglicised transcriptions of original Arabic names (which is not the case here)? ptkfgs 16:35, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you! :-D ptkfgs 18:58, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Just wanted to thank you for your recent campaign to clean up the Arabic tags, you got/fixed/removed 9 that I had added over the past year, all at once fixed. Much thanks! Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 20:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Again

Thanks again, I am from Abukamal and I tried to upload some pictures for Dura europes (?) and Euphrates of Abukmal. I still have them here. I wonder if you can help me doing it. I could not post them. I am going to send you a lot of pictures and you can pick and choose. Some of them, I am sure, do not work. But why not having a look at them? I am going to send it to my EMPTY email which is [email protected] (the password is icannot). !!!

You are a star!!! Thanks a lot. And also thank you a lot for the welcome!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hassan hsn (talkcontribs)

Sorry there was indeed a mistake in the email: it is [email protected] and the password is correct: icannot. The pictures were taken by me. But the problem is maybe the features of the photos. I tried to do them but did not work. Sorry for this mess again. Thanks a lot —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hassan hsn (talkcontribs)

Summons of the Lord of Hosts

Hey Anas, I reverted your edit on Summons of the Lord of Hosts for the Arabic script. I believe the request for Arabic script in that article is for a subset of the title of the individual tablets which were written in Arabic and have Arabic names like Súriy-i-Haykal. First, sorry for not responding earlier. I've been hell busy for 2 weeks. Hello, I was pleased to hear about you. I also noticed your good edits on Arab related articles. Wikipedia needs a lot more of Arab editors like you. And I saw that you've already got 2 barnstars (I've only got one in 3 years :( Anyway, If you need any comment or intervention in any dispute, just ask me. Welcoming Users

I think it's great that you go around and welcome so many users. However, a bit of a word about using {{welcome}}

When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. .

Thank you for the Support

I'd like to express my huge thanks to you, Anas, for your support in my recent RfA, which closed with 100% support at 71/0/1. Needless to say, I am very suprised at the huge levels of support I've seen on my RfA, and at the fact that I only had give three answers, unlike many other nominees who have had many, many more questions! I'll be careful with my use of the tools, and invite you to tell me off if I do something wrong! Thanks, Martinp23 14:33, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Egyptian films

Hi remember you can categorize the film by year. category:1948 films. I am currently going through films myself. I don't know if you ave or are doing this but on imdb internet movie database click by country and click Egypt and it will come up with all the Egyptian films every released. Films are all about 0.0001% covered on wikipedia and I would be very grateful if you would help out. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:53, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

I have corected the The Two Orphans a little and linked to imdb. It was actually 1949 and your director was wrong. Other than than great. I have checked and imdb has about 1700 films you can contribute from Egypt. In a A-Z! Good luck Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:04, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Free images can become orphan, as they are free there is no need to include them in articles. If it is an exact duplicate of another image, you can use I1 if it is not in Commons, or I8 if so. Try reading the Image section of the speedy criteria to see which of both fits better. Good luck! -- ReyBrujo 19:45, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
