Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Thank You![edit]

Disambiguation link notification for February 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cooch Behar Airport, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Asphalt. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Altoumulus, I didn't know that the term "civilian" is not allowed to be used on aviation related articles [1]. Where did you learn that? Horse Eye's Back (talk) 05:21, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It is always mentioned as 'Airport type should be one of the following: Public, Private, Military or Military/Public. Do not use Commercial, General or Civil.' Altoumulus (talk) 05:33, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Third column in airline destination charts[edit]

Please refrain from adding a third column to airline destination charts as guidelines do not mandate it and there is no concensus to add them to articles. There is a reason why there hasn't been one for years and you cannot change that at will. Best regards. 2001:A61:1016:8201:55C8:D1D9:45F:3309 (talk) 08:34, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Nagol0929. I noticed that you recently removed content from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hi, while this is a good start for an article I had some feedback. The article is overwhelmingly positive, but generally with large construction projects like this there are environmental concerns, urban development issues, etc. Has there been negative press about the project? I am also concerned that [2] is a WP:SPS. Rschen7754 05:57, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Rschen7754: Yes, there was a serious environmental concern from the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC). For that, I have added a section as 'Environmental concerns' in that article. Thank you for reminding me about this! Altoumulus (talk) 07:07, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Changing content to numerous airport articles[edit]

Hi, can you explain the changes you've been making, supported by sources that claim "Document not Found?" [3] Perhaps you can supply a valid source that is accessible, otherwise the edits will all merit review. Thanks, 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 01:32, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

United Airlines' flights to DEL.[edit]

Hi, I hope you know me as I frequently edit airports, airlines and other articles, anyways, I had edited DEL airport and had added that United Airline will resume their ORD-DEL flights in October, 28. It was also written that the SFO-DEL and EWR-BOM flights will resume on October, 28. Will it be accepted if I edit and add these connections in the respective articles? Advit Das 2010 (talk) 17:39, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Yes, it will be accepted. But, make sure you add a valid and reliable citation (or source) beside those dates. Altoumulus (talk) 05:20, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hajj Charter Flights[edit]

Hi - Please check the rules, in case you're not aware of them. Specifically, Hajj charters are not to be listed in the destination tables. They are also not seasonal flights and, by definition, they are simply planes that have been chartered by an government or committee for a very specific occasion. Additionally, one cannot just buy a ticket on these flights, because they are part of a larger (usually government-arranged) activity.

And also note that flight tracking websites are never an acceptable source because they do not confirm anything other than an aircraft flew from Place A to Place B on one particular day. 202.134.183.23 (talk) 16:31, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Unwanted"[edit]

It seems you don't believe in replying to messages on your talk page from others, but are very happy to post fake threats of blocking on others' talk pages.

In any event, could you please enlighten what you mean by "unwanted"? You use it a lot when reverting perfectly valid edits made by others. What exactly is "unwanted"? Who doesn't want it to make it "unwanted"? And who made you the decision maker on what is wanted and what is not? 202.134.183.23 (talk) 15:28, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding about flight tracking sources. You are correct as per WP:AIRPORTS. I went through it. Altoumulus (talk) 15:43, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Just as you're welcome for all the Hajj charters. And all the non-existent and unconfirmed flights. And all the "unwanted" comments (by whom exactly? Who doesn't want it to make it "unwanted"?). And all the "unauthorised" (as if you're the sole authorised editor who can do as you please per your whims)!!!
Again, all you did is copy-paste yet another "threat" without responding to the messages on your talk page and without attempting to understand the reasons for the revert of some of your additions.
I do hope you realise that you do not own those articles. Nor are you the deciding authority on what is wanted and what is unwanted. And you're no less "authorised" than anyone else. 202.134.183.23 (talk) 16:35, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Altoumulus: The templates you left at the above IP's talk are not very informative. Please explain at Talk:Vijayawada Airport why the text in question should not be removed. The edit summaries used the IP sound plausible and deserve a reasoned response. Johnuniq (talk) 07:42, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Johnuniq Sir, could you please tell me which text in question are you talking about? Altoumulus (talk) 07:49, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You left four messages at User talk:202.134.183.23#June 2023. None of them seem to have identified an article or a problem. Another editor mentioned Vijayawada Airport where the history shows you having a disagreement with the IP. The point of the disagreement is some text in the article. That is what matters and is of course the text I was referring to. I do not know if the IP is correct but they used meaningful edit summaries explaining their reasoning whereas I have not seen any explanation from you. Please use the article talk for that. Johnuniq (talk) 08:29, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

June 2023[edit]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, you may be blocked from editing.  LeoFrank  Talk 17:25, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Alright LeoFrank, now I know I made a mistake by adding numerous citations of flight tracking websites on airport articles, which is not acceptable as per WP:AIRPORTS. I went through the article. I assure you that I will not repeat it again. Thanks. Altoumulus (talk) 09:38, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Approval vs reality[edit]

Hello - despite your complete refusal to accept what has been attempted to explain to you God knows how many times, I do hope you now are able to differentiate between getting approval to do something and actually doing it.

Just because the DGCA permitted an airline to start flights from Point A to Point B from a particular date, does NOT mean said airline will automatically start flights from that very date.

Indigo obtained permission - that's all, only permission - to start BOM-NBO from a date in July. But you kept insisting over and over and again and again that that was indisputably the date from which flights will start (with no actual evidence confirming your claim). And guess what? The actual date turned out to be different.

Just like your Hajj charters and your flightaware references and God knows what else.

Suggest you take a look at the rules and guidelines, understand them and follow them before pointing fingers at others and posting hollow copy-paste threats on our talk pages (without even understanding what you're saying and what it means).

Oh, and still waiting (without any expectation of course) to be educated on "unwanted" and "unauthorised" and "vandalism".

Who are you to decide what is wanted and what is not. Who are you to decide what is authorised and who is not? And when it is now evident that you're the vandal (since you've been on a tear adding things in clear violation of all accepted standards and norms) who are you to call people who try to make articles abide by agreed-upon norms vandals? 202.134.183.23 (talk) 17:12, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IndiGo article[edit]

Hey, just to let you know that both the A320neo and the A321neo/LR/XLR belong to the A320neo family: Airbus A320neo family 80.187.75.136 (talk) 19:12, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, even though the Airbus A321XLR is a variant of the A321neo and is a part of the Airbus A320neo family, it differs in various specifications, such as MTOW, fuel capacity, ceiling, fuselage length, seating capacity, typical range and other interior features. Also, in airline articles on Wikipedia, those who have ordered the A321XLR have separate sections in the fleet sections to distinguish it from A321 and/or A321neo, such as American Airlines and United Airlines. Altoumulus (talk) 05:40, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am in favor of giving the A321XLR an extra column in the Fleet table. Thanks for bringing it back.

My initial message was regarding that you removed the merged cells for "Largest A320neo family operator" in the IndiGo fleet table. Now that statement is not in the A321neo column anymore, even though the A321neo belongs to the A320neo family. 80.187.74.88 (talk) 01:26, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fly91 moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Fly91. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because This was already draftified per deletion discussion. Still not operational and do not see this meeting NCORP as of yet. Please get consensus if you feel it should be moved to mainspace. . I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. CNMall41 (talk) 18:20, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello CNMall41. Could you please explain what is the NCORP? Thank you. Altoumulus (talk) 05:29, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The link is WP:NCORP which is the specific notability guideline that would apply to this draft. Also, can you please review WP:COI and WP:PAID and make the appropriate disclosure if appropriate. --CNMall41 (talk) 07:01, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thank you for explaining that. I have reviewed the WP:COI and WP:PAID, but I have created the article based on none of these criteria. I have mentioned everything in my own words after obtaining necessary data and information from various reliable sources, as per Wikipedia's guidelines to create an article. To meet the WP:NCORP, I have restructured the existing citations and added more citations. Could you please review the draft after I submit it for review again? Thanks again. Altoumulus (talk) 07:54, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let me ask this directly. Are you being paid by anyone or know anyone from or associated with Fly91? The history of the pages, the deletion discussions, the drafts, and your editing pattern does raise red flags in my opinion. Editing with a COI is fine as long as there is disclosure and rules are followed. As far as the review, I have done so already through the AfD discussions and the comments made when the draft was moved (yet again) back to draft space. --CNMall41 (talk) 17:34, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to honestly and frankly tell you that whatever I have edited and created articles on Wikipedia, all I have done completely on my own without the involvement of anybody else. I don't really know why I am being connected with people whom I don't know at all. I am not at all editing or creating any article on a "paid" or "connected to someone" basis. Whatever I have been doing, as I have previously mentioned, everything on my own as per the guidelines of Wikipedia to create or edit an article, by using own words, giving reliable sources as much as possible, maintaining a neutral point of view as much as possible, and not indulging in any plagiarism or vandalism. Whatever I have mentioned in the draft, as you have noticed in the history section, I have given only whatever is required to be mentioned, so that relevant information and knowledge is displayed to readers who are interested, especially in Aviation, as the article is about an airline. Also, I have created the article earlier before it begins operations, because if you search about "Fly91" on the internet, then you will see that currently, news about it is being widely circulated as it has been granted by the Government of India to begin commercial operations, per most official news sources ([1][2][3]). Therefore, I decided to create the article so that again, people who are interested and desire to know about the airline and its purpose, can receive knowledge. Now, if you don't mind, please decide what is to be done with that draft. I tried my best to create the article on Wikipedia while adhering to its rules, based on my article writing skills which I do in real life. Thank you. Links to draft articles[edit]

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Sindhudurg Airport, Manohar International Airport, Kempegowda International Airport and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 19:36, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thank you very much for resurrecting my changes. I promise I will not repeat my mistake. Altoumulus (talk) 05:43, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
