How we will see unregistered users[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Orphaned non-free image File:Windows 10 Taskbar.PNG[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Windows 10 Taskbar.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:01, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New administrator activity requirement[edit]

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Jayda Fransen[edit]

There seems to be a lot of disruption on this page, probably because of local elections in the four nations. I made a request at WP:RfPP, but hadn't noticed that you are a sysop. Checking the logs, I saw that Saxa alba temporarily semi-protected the page a year ago. Possibly that will happen again. Mathsci (talk) 12:35, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The page has been semi-protected for 1 week by Malcolmx15. I'm still waiting to see the election results where I am. Cheers, Mathsci (talk) 12:50, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Tradeston Flour Mills explosion you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Ealdgyth -- Ealdgyth (talk) 13:41, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article Tradeston Flour Mills explosion you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Tradeston Flour Mills explosion for issues which need to be addressed. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Ealdgyth -- Ealdgyth (talk) 15:41, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article Tradeston Flour Mills explosion you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Tradeston Flour Mills explosion for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. DYK for Tradeston Flour Mills explosion[edit]

On 10 June 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tradeston Flour Mills explosion, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 1872 Tradeston Flour Mills explosion that killed 18 people was caused by a fire after the feed of grain to a pair of millstones was halted? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tradeston Flour Mills explosion. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tradeston Flour Mills explosion), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi,

I saw that you said the sources for Lord Moylan didn’t say he was gay so removed him from the LGBT uk politicians article.

I found some that did and so was wondering if you might re-add him please.

Actually I couldn't tell if your edit summary here [[1]] was a factual statement or a very amusing tongue-firmly-in-cheek joke - either way the edit itself seems entirely appropriate. Thanks, and I wish you a very happy Christmas, if that is your thing. Springnuts (talk) 11:33, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
