who edits on things relating to Perth, Western Australia - are you interested in the range of meetings we have in Perth?

There is no problem if you are not in Perth, not interested, not able, or whatever - just asking... JarrahTree 23:58, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, maybe. Let me know the details. Adondai (talk) 00:00, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

no obligations, and absolutely no special requirements - there are two lots - thursday nights, and weekend meetups that are usually about once a month... will let you know the details when they come to hand... but hey, to know about them might be of interest... When replying, please link your answer, thanks.. like William_Bold

Sorry to bother, but a reply to an experienced copyright checker says one thing,

and you reply with a comment you copied text - please understand that 'cut and paste', or 'using text from another wikipedia page is strongly discouraged - see also : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_guide/Fixing_cut-and-paste_moves - it can be quite difficult for admins to understand what exactly has happened or how to remedy the situation.

we never copy text from other articles, and we never self reference against other articles, where relevant we link, like William Bold. Thanks. JarrahTree 23:51, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was responding from the mobile version which didn't allow inserting links, I responded simply to point you in the direction of another wiki article that potentially contains copyright material given that this text was, and I disagree that copying sections from one article to a new one is wrong in all cases. When creating a new page to deal with a subject mentioned briefly in one article it can provide a starting point for the new one--although I acknowledge you wouldn't want to do this too much or too often.Adondai (talk) 04:42, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

wrong[edit]

asserting 'truth' and 'correct' on wikipedia will always get you in trouble, try Stephenson, Gordon; Hepburn, J. A. (John Alastair), 1915-; Western Australia. Metropolitan Region Planning Authority (1955), Plan for the Metropolitan Region Perth and Fremantle, Western Australia, 1955 : a report, Government Printing Office, retrieved 3 March 2020{{citation}}: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link) CS1 maint: numeric names: authors list (link) - your eliminating the date from the title is not correct. JarrahTree 06:17, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

When I’m correcting myself, I’m not so worried about getting offended. Adondai (talk) 11:56, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

no big deal, the nit picking over something like that, can be as bad as some of the copy-edit edits that happen around the place - keep upthe good work anyways !! JarrahTree 11:58, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Avoid creating highly redundant POVFORKs like ‎Indian WhatsApp lynchings. Azuredivay (talk) 01:09, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What does this even mean? I’m under sanction? For something which is still a matter of ongoing discussion? Adondai (talk) 01:27, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

very poorly explained - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2020_June_5 - you are not under amything - you have been mentioned at the discussion. Thats all JarrahTree 01:44, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, but the comment above clearly presupposes something (that the article is a POVFORK) when I don’t agree that the matter is settled. It is still the subject of discussion. Adondai (talk) 02:01, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sinking of the railway[edit]

Have you a ref for that? Parliamentary committee considerations of the problem of the railway through the city go back to at least the first world war... trove and state records have details of the inquiries about the issue... JarrahTree 05:05, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It was a claim taken from the linked page. I’ve been looking into it, and if it can’t be verified both will need to be modified. Adondai (talk) 09:41, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Found it.Adondai (talk) 12:16, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The recent one - thanks for the effort. JarrahTree 12:32, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

History of City of Perth[edit]

Once again - refs are required - just adding is WP:OR - please make an effort !! JarrahTree 05:01, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is that references are required for quotes and material that is challenged and likely to be challenged. Outside of that there’s a level of judgement involved about when it’s appropriate and necessary. If you’re going to challenge every edit I make then sure, yes, according to that policy I will need to cite the source, but that’s different from suggesting an unsourced edit is automatically original research. You will see across my edits As a whole that I often add sources, including to existing articles. To some extent, I think there’s a structural bias in that a large scale edit to an article that includes some new sources will be perceived as more legitimate than a single sentence edit without one — even though the large edit may contain more individual, unsourced claims. Adondai (talk) 09:39, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Perception bias I mean Adondai (talk) 13:12, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DevelopmentWA moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, DevelopmentWA, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Dealing with dead links[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to Coral Bay, Western Australia. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Graham87 (talk) 02:01, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
