Edits

Hi Mindys12345, I didn't think to mention the spelling corrections that I've made, including for the Sydney Coach Terminal - I love the work that you've done on that page, it's very comprehensive, and is a lot more informative than the last time I visited there (prettier, too!). Brilliant job. Lou 02:36, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I knew that you would have had the inside track! The information is way to complete for someone that just walks past it regularly. I think I could learn a bit about hyperlinking by looking at that page (I'm crap for that, but a whiz at spelling). Thanks again, Adam Lou 22:49, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

How many hits

is there a way to check how many hits my page has had apart from my own

What page do you mean? --Geniac 13:21, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't know of any way to see how many people have viewed a particular article. Try asking at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). Are you an employee of the Sydney Coach Terminal? Please see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. You asked me if there was a way to check how many hits "my" page has had; please see Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. --Geniac 12:29, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Blanking

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Sydney Coach Terminal. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Geniac 05:16, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

"Hi I thought that if I created an article then I could deleted it." - Yes, you could, but why would you want to? The Sydney Coach Terminal article has good information and is nicely formatted.
- "...nobrainer comment about the article..." - That comment was made at Talk:List of long-distance trails in Australia. Please re-read what was said. Bduke said "The merge looks like a no-brainer". That comment has nothing to do with the quality of the Sydney Coach Terminal article.
Also, please do not remove parts of other people's comments like you just did in this edit. Thank you. --Geniac 05:49, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Sydney Coach Terminal

Hi Adam, I originally found this as a " random article" but I have an interest because I work for one of the other companies in that group!! Lou 23:32, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

(cur) (last) 08:54, 18 March 2007 Mindys12345 (Talk | contribs) (Foot-and-mouth crisis - added some infor about foot and mouth, if you don't think this should be here please delete)

Ouch. Yes, since it looks like a copy of the first part of the Foot and mouth disease, it is not needed. And since I was reading an article about YHA, coming across a long section on a disease had me wondering if some mistake had copied part of one article into another. Anyway, I think the most important is simply "the disease is highly contagious and tourism and travel were very restricted during the quarantine time" which is I think why it hurt the organization, right? Cumberland Plain

Cumberland Plain exists today mainly as an ecological concept, a group of plant communities indigenous to the area. Cumberland County has, I think, different borders (though there's clearly plenty of overlap) and is relevant to town planning. Joestella 05:23, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I am not sure that cumberland county & plain should be merged as they cover different locations. The map of the plain does not include parts in the east which are part of the county. --Astrokey44 10:37, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Use of hangon

Greetings! I'm a bit confused as to your use of the "hangon" template on newly created pages. There has been no speedy deletion template used on those pages so the hangon template doesn't apply. Are you planning on creating these articles (such as Sydney Pass, Bondi Explorer, etc.)? If so, you might want to first flesh out the article in a subpage, perhaps User:Mindys12345/sandbox or User:Mindys12345/Bondi Explorer instead of creating these empty pages. Cheers, --Rkitko (talk) 06:42, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

All those See Alsos

It's not appropriate to add Sydney Explorer to every attraction that the bus stops at! "See also" is for related articles. If people want to know about the Explorer they'll go to the article and see the destinations there. --Steve (Stephen) talk 08:54, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

'See also' links on Troy Cassar-Daley

Hello, the 'See also' section is only for links to articles which which are (a) not already included in the article and (b) directly related to the topic of the article.

I removed these links, and I notice you re-add, so I thought I would explain my reasoning:

Guitar would be best linked in the intro paragraph where it should be mentioned that he is a guitarist. Mildura Country Music Festival would be best included in a paragraph/section describing when he performed there (assuming he did, of course!) If you have any questions let me know! -- Chuq 02:13, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Scanned maps

All those maps you have uploaded are copyright Gregorys. Copyright extends for 70 years in Australia so you cannot simply scan them and release them as GFDL! --Steve (Stephen) talk 03:57, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I've asked for administrative help, as I don't want you to waste your work. You won't be able to delete them yourself without admin privileges, but let's see what others say. --Steve (Stephen) talk 04:12, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Did you get clarification that scanned copyright maps were OK? I notice you've started adding them back --Steve (Stephen) talk 05:44, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Given that they are copyright, not GFDL, and scanning them to display in articles does not constitute fair use I think you should tag them all for deletion. --Steve (Stephen) talk 09:32, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I have tagged an article you authored with db-nocontext. While I understand that you have every intention of finishing it when you next can, I cannot see how this article can be developed. Wikipedia does not simply host bible verses; these verses must have a place in society or have sources describing its meaning and implications. Please consider adding attributed content to Book of Ezekiel instead. Thanks. - SpLoT // 11:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Archive

Regarding user talk pages, it is best to not delete notices, but instead, to archive them. You can find how to do this at Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page. Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages is often interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil. For this reason, if your deletion of notices and concerns on your user talk page is to keep the "clutter" down, I suggest that you instead create archives for these messages. --Geniac 18:53, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Please do not revert to previous edits of this article because it contains vandalism. I spent a lot of time deleting vandalism that had built up over time and put a lot of work creating the new info box. J Bar 05:57, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

why don't you simply remove the vandalism whilst keeping the same format
Mindys12345 06:02, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
What's wrong with the new format? All the suburbs in the Sydney area are slowly being updated to this new format with Info boxes. This is a Sydney wikiproject. The boxes contain a lot of useful information and there's field for more information to be added. J Bar 06:07, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Sydney Maps

Hi Mindys12345, thanks for your message on my talk page. Although I actually removed a copyrighted photograph, not a map, I've had a look at the maps you've uploaded and I'm afraid you'll definitely need to tag them all for speedy deletion as they are in violation of copyright law. Unless we can find confirmation that the author of the maps died before 1954 (which seems unlikely if they were published in 1945) then they won't become public domain until 70 years after the date of the author's death, which is therefore likely to be 2024 at the absolute earliest. At that point, the maps will become public domain, so the GFDL tag you've applied is inappropriate. You can read about the reasons for these dates in our article on Australian copyright law. Hope that helps, --YFB ¿ 03:23, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Scanned maps

I'm tagging all the uploaded maps for deletion, per our discussions --Steve (Stephen) talk 05:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Australia maps

The problem is that it's not enough for the copyright owner to grant permission for use of images on Wikipedia. There also has to be permission for the images to be reused free by anyone. See GFDL and WP:COPYRIGHT. NawlinWiki 12:17, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I mean reused by anyone, for anything. That includes someone publishing the maps and selling them. Again, read WP:COPYRIGHT for a fuller explanation. If your source doesn't want other people reprinting his maps and selling them, he shouldn't be giving permission for them to be used here. NawlinWiki 00:38, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, if it has the proper license. People do post copyrighted images here without permission, and we do our best to remove them. NawlinWiki 01:11, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Lion Island

Hi! I removed the see also list, as a list of related islands is better served by a category.

To make a category, you type Category:name of category to create in the search box at the left and hit "Go". If the category exists you will get its page, else you will get a blank page. If you get a blank page, edit it and add a link to the category to which your new category belongs (Every category should be a subcategory of some other). Your category now exists and you can add things like to articles to add them to your category.

The best way to learn is to look at the source for an existing example. You can hit the 'edit' button to look at the source, use the preview button to see the effects of changes and just not hit the save button when you have finished experimenting (use the back button on your browser instead).

I've since found the category Category:Islands of New South Wales and added Lion Island to it. Use it as an example to learn from! If you did want to create a category for the Hawkesbury you would it by editing the page and inserting the line . This would make the category Islands of the Hawkesbury River as a subcategory of Islands of New South Wales. Before doing this, think carefully though:

 • Are the enough islands or articles about such islands to justify a category?
 • What exactly is meant by the name fo the category? Does it include the Nepean, Pittwater, Broken Bay, ...? Possibly the name I plucked out of the air (Islands of the Hawkesbury River) is not the best name for such a category.

I hope the above is useful. Happy Editing. John Dalton 00:20, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Hint: A good way to find existing categories is to look at existing articles about similar things and see what their categories are. I found the Islands of New South Wales category by looking at the Shark Island (Port Jackson) article. John Dalton 00:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes the globes

I like the globes they remind me I'm on Earth sometimes I forget. Do you have a favorite flavor of Danish? If so I would include a picture on your page it would be awesome. I'm watching the Golden Girls right now bye.--Wayne Neptune 03:33, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about the random questions.

I'm bored. I'm a writer with writers block and I found some random person to talk to. If I'm annoying I'll stop. A danish pastry is a type of dessert but it doesn't matter. You don't have to answer. I'm going to talk to a friend about his favorite Sydney attractions and see if I can contribute to any articles. Wonderful town.--Wayne Neptune 03:53, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm new if you can't tell

I am just getting used to editing and writing articles. I don't know much about what people are talking about on the discussion pages. Not a fan of other social web sites I'd rather read random wiki articles and discuss interesting stuff.--Wayne Neptune 04:18, 26 April 2007 (UTC) Sydney seems so clean compared to cities I used to. Have you been to all these attractions you write about? Drugs aren't cool, yea!--Wayne Neptune 04:34, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

nav box

The problem with such a box is that it is cluttering the Lion Island article with information that isn't really about Lion Island. How about writing an article on the Hawkesbury region? It can contain all the data in the proposed box and better still summarise all the data on the Hawkesbury region. The Lion Island article can mention that it is in the region, along with a wikilink to the region article. John Dalton 05:54, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Please don't insert your personal biases into articles again, as doing so may ultimately result in your being blocked from editing for disruption. Thanks,--cj | talk 02:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

With Gay tourism, I cannot see how that addition would be disruptive, I mean what is the main pupose of gay tourism, what are they seeking, whats the ultimate goal and what kind of article would these people be interested in reading. If the article is not linked to other articles then how are people going to find it, unless they deside to type in the key words. I do think my addition to the mardi gra article may have been in-appropiate, but I thought that the kind of people that would read an article like this would be interested in that sor a thing.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindys12345 (talkcontribs) 03:22 13 May 2007

With Gay tourism, I cannot see how that addition would be disruptive

If you can't see how adding See also links to Anal sex in irrelevant gay-related articles is not appropriate, perhaps you should avoid editing such subjects. Edits of that nature may considered vandalism, and (trust me) they are not ipso facto needed in gay-related articles any more than Patriarchy or Pregnancy (for example) would be in every heterosexuality-relevant article.
In another matter, thank you for reverting your recent change to the Sex tourism article. / edgarde 03:15, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
